As further support to what has been said, my R33 GTR is running similar numbers to others mentioned at +20psi on custom spec N1's. I also run 550cc injectors and they're running at 70% duty cycle. Plenty left. Bigger isn't necesarily better. Think hip pocket!! You can get better granularity in your map the smaller the injector helping to improve fuel economy and efficiency if setup properly. It depends on your project too. If you're planning another power up later on then sure get the bigger ones. Makes sense. If not, then maybe not? although many would argue with this, I believe there's not much use for more than 300Kw on the street. Its just a waste cause you can't really use it and it changes the whole dynamics of a street GTR. Anyone that has one will agree that day to day it's already far from a show room model with this much power. You chew everything tyres, fuel economy, clutches, gearboxes you get the idea. Shit thats the point though right? We love it :-p You will loose some of your down low mapping capabilities the bigger you go with injectors. Obviously it depends on the quality of your ECU (and the injector for that matter) and your tuners ability to get it right, but regardless, the bigger you go the less control you'll have. Especially on your cold start setup. Less of a problem these days with injector quality. Like anything you need to look at the whole fuel system, keep it all on the same level. Its all symantics if your running a stock pump. Good luck with it, Sebaz

Looking at a new boost controller after my second hand Greddy crapped itself. In particular I want an EVC that allows me to spike the boost down low to get on boost quicker then return to normal controlling functions of an EVC from then on. With a phnumatic system this can be achieved and many do it. I've actually never seen or heard of this feature being available in an EVC till I read about the "Offset function' in the new HKS EVC IV. check it out: www.hksusa.com Has anyone used this or someone having experience with the EVC IV please tell me exactly what this "offset function" does? Apparently its different from the older HKS evc 2 and 3 that purely looked after boost level stability. It can apparently control boost response as well. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Sebaz

RB26DETT plus other GTR parts for sale

DjCano, They're true six bolt N1 ball bearing centres ordered fro the nismo catalogue with resized standard housings. This is common thing done with N1's. It illiminates lag. You loose a little bit of top end as a result but its the usual trade off. Nothing till 5K (as it is with the largest nismo housings) or less than factory lag and a whopping mid range!! I've got two sets of these (I have a set on my GTR) which is why I'm selling these ones. They're almost brand new (they've done a couple of hundred km's thats it) and a bargain at 4K. Plenty of interest so don't worry if you can't afford it... -
SydneyKid this might be one for you mate... Does anyone know the specifics of what is different in the 98 model r33 GTR gearbox in comparison to the series 1 and series 2 r33 pre mid 98? I know they're different. They had a re-think on the syncro's and changed them for the end of this model so I'm told, but what else have they changed? Sebaz

If you lossen the springs on your BOV/BOV's then you can get them to bounce on TC. The ch ch ch sound CAN come from the valve opening then bouncing off the releasing air pressure because the valve spring is wound right off. People with SSQ don't need to do this to get this effect to some degree because they have two seperate valves that are different sizes and spring rates therefore open at different boost levels. So that is why under a full boost/load release you can hear a puuuuush...ch ch ch. Its the large valve opening followed by the smaller valve flapping after the bigger valve has closed again. Its also depends whether its a push type or pull type valve. One is better than the other if you're chasing the noise... whatever... You guys can work out which one is better.. I always thought that cha cha cha was some kind of latino dance move????? Sebaz

Does an R34 GTR steering wheel fit an R33 GTR?
sebaz replied to jlnewton's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Seeings a series 2 wheel will fit a series 1 I don't see how if a 34 wheel fits a series 2 it wouldn't fit a series 1. seriesly ;-) Sebaz -
I second the motion for a problem caused by after market steering wheel fitment. If you have one and the incorrect boss kit is fitted it will cause problems. Your HICAS light will come on due to sensor confusion in the steering column. It causes the hicas to shutdown and the fault light comes on. Pretty hard to see if it is or isn't working on the street... (being sensible of course.. eh eh) Further, if your lights seem to come on intermittently try doing this: turn on everything you can and load up the electrical system and see what happens. Air con/ demissters stereo lights the works. I've seen instances (on an r33 vspec) where due to a grounding problem the 4wd system will drop out when the electrical system is heavily loaded. When put on the r32 consult computer at Nissan it pointed toward the TPS having a fault but it ended up being a grounding issue. If you've ever had an engine out or you suspect that its been out it might be worth checking to make sure there's no problems with grounding. Remember the wiring harness is almost twice as thick as an r32 for a number of reasons so using the Nissan R32 consult computer system test will only check about half or so of the circuits. Its not the gospel test but it is very useful to help troubleshoot problems. It sounds to me like you have a few seperate problems that are causing confusion. Good luck with it. Sebaz

Update to this thread... Engine has been fully serviced, head off the works and re assembled. Brand new standard turbos added as well. The Nismo N1's are 4K now not 5K. PowerFC and hand controller is now sold. The rest is all still for sale. Sebaz -
Tribex: Don't write off the N1's. I've achieved a very good figure using them only part way through development (still developing). Over 400HP at the wheels can easily be achieved with very strong torque figures with minimal internal mods on an RB26. There are 4 different models to choose from. The smallest housing size gives as good response if not better than standard turbo's and the largest housing model coming on boost at around 5K... not so good for street use in my opinion ;-) Remember Kw win dyno comps but Torque rules the street!! So think about where you'll be using it.. or showing it.. in some peoples case.. yawn... I think its only fair to post some N1 results just to show what they can be made to do. I encourage others to do the same!! But as I'm sure most will be quick to point out, Turbo's suit the purpose in mind and if not spec'd to suit a result, can and often does end in tears. So choose carefully to suit your requirement. I do have a spare set of N1's with about 500Km's on them (read brand new basically I have two sets the same due to sort of a mix up) for sale for 4K. Same as I'm running on my car. If you decide to go that route PM me. Good luck, Sebaz
