  1. haha ohh yeh that too sorry...cant believe i forgot that lol ...shameful. Dont mean to give misleading information...sorry. Im in QRDA.
  2. Just make sure you put 100mph tape over the weights as they have a tendancy to fly off at high speeds, or if you run off the track gravel/stones either damage or help tear them off
  3. fill out the form from the cams website and send it in with your money was $79 i believe. Just watch the turn onto the main straight, if you mess it up, go through too quick, understeer or oversteer out wide....you grab your balls and close your eyes and pray as best as you can! Last month, two days before the short circuit meeting there it claimed a rather nice 32gtr...i cried when i heard about it...
  4. place in melbourne....friggening cant rememeber their name...Donnellens Tyres...or maybe not...i believe they had the cheapest semi slicks in australia. Well thats where we used to get our re55s from anyway.
  5. haha r33 ones...but that doesnt help unfortunately....sorry.
  6. fark i just wish i had a r34gtr let alone spending 80g on modifying it. man i envy you.
  7. no offense but it was a silly question. You only had to go back a page or two and read about the pistons people were using and the question would have been answered. This aint calais turbo....were not bogans here
  8. Thats correct, we run a pro in the race car and it cuts ignition, part of the launch control, like antilag setup. But yeh, if you brush redline while racing it does tend to spit like a dragon really easy. Thats why i like flat changes, not only does it scare people with massive shotgun noises it looks tough and probably does more damage to everything haha.
  9. n1....why not go for a nismo gt block? Are they not supposed to be the ducks nuts of the rb26 blocks? 80g...damnit, why spend that on a road car....build a track car 80g ontop of what you have would be awesome so long as you do the work yourself cause thats alot of parts you can get. Also 600hp at all 4 wheels is alot of power, probably too much for a street. I dont know what the loss is for 4wheel drive but i would say at least 100hp minimum so thats like 700ponies(523 4wkw) at the fly, maybe more!
  10. pffft forged pistons are over rated mate....i got a set of pistons out of my mates old 250 crossflow, just threw them in....no worries mate, she does the trick nicely and didnt even cost me a cent! Macgyver : yeh thats the plan, and it shouldnt be a problem as you you check all levels of fluids and fuel and everything before every race anyway, so it would just be on the list make sure the water/meth bottle is topped up. But im looking forward to the idea seeing the results with other peoples cars has been very good.
  11. Im not 100% either 6's or 7's....and memory is telling me to lean towards the 7's. I think ive got the old man convinced on getting and trying the stage 2 boost cooler kit that The Mafia used up north, but with the maf controller. That should definetly help the knock issue and i believe would work perfectly for the circuit, especially since were not far off summer now, being only 1 season away.
  12. Thats interesting, using one range cooler and your knock dropped that much. Good how something so simple can yield such a good result, not massive but significant enough to make it worthwhile.
  13. airlock........if there is an airlock in there it will make noises. Have you changed the fluid lately or is there a leak somewhere?
  14. Yeh it is abit high and yeh thats exactly right, no knock or next to no knock would be preferable. We will look at some further measures for later on to reduce the knock and hopefully increase the power. Maybe some bigger cams, bigger rear housing, thinking about water/meth injection like The Mafia has to help keep the intake charge cooler and keep the knock down. Yeh seat of your pants dyno will be a good experience...will know how that is not next weekend, but the following one at QR for saturday sprints and sunday racing. HAHA if im lucky ill get a run in the practice sat morning. Old man is the lucky one who gets to race....
  15. Im psychic, he will say yes it is so long as its readily available so you dont have to drive 25km to get to a bowser that pumps it. In brisbane were still like that...only like 4 or 5 stations on the northside that have extreme. Pain in the ass sometimes. Slight comparison....bp 100 octane or (avgas) which comes in 20l drums works out at something like $2.50 per litre, so about 50bux a drum....thats still like 1 dollar more exxy then the extreme
  16. I believe it is a common misunderstanding, actually i thought the samething too before i got my cams license and spoke to some people.
  17. There should be virtually nothing to very very small amount of play in that camber adjustment. You might want to check its not the rose joint(spherical bearing), if the previous owner put them on and bought them second hand or has used the car extensively for drifting/circuit racing even with new ones they are probably worn and need replacing and that could be the noise and cause of the excessive tyre wear.
  18. Nice work Harry. Car looks schmick, nice simple and clean. Do you require a navi for those rally/offorad/tarmac events? Hope your recovery is relatively pain free and quick mate....and here i was thinking you were actually a mexican! Banana benders FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. yeh thats what we figured....a tunes a tune. But we just heard the boost is spiking too high and its knocking its head off apparently...gotta change waste gate springs and use ebc to raise the boost slowly to the target 1.7bar... Hope we get good power without too much knock Ok update, they've managed 300kw now on 1.1-1.2bar with knock around the 50's. Apparently the vct isnt working, so if they fix that they reckon they could get abit more out of it and abit more with some fine tuning. 8k redline and it still wants to keep going. Im guessing the 6boost manifold is doing good, as its not getting restricted anywhere, apparently the power curve is virtually perfectly straight and 45 all the way across the board. This sounds good so far since we were only hoping for 300rwkws but on higher boost, yet its been achieved with much lower boost. I wonder what it would get if done in shootout mode?
  20. You do if you are racing in cams events at morgan park, same at QR (hardly any there anyway cause they run under aasa or whatever it is). Its not so much tracks that are run or owned by cams, but events that are run by cams at that track. The short circuit event i was in the other month at Morgan Park was a cams event and fell under their rules and regs....if you dont believe me, my cams license/ race car log book and scrutineering sticker can confirm this
  21. ME TOO! I want some 110-115 ron pump bp fuel...where do i get that? For pump fuel you cant beat the shell optimax extreme...100 ron with some eth in it, get it tuned on that and its your best bet without going to race fuels Believe me, race fuel is frikken expensive....we were using martini 110 for a little while...at the time we worked out per litre $6.80 FARK! Knock is due to too lean a mixture, too much ignition advance, too much boost-related to 1, heating issues, excessive oil in the intake...what happens is somewhere during the compression stroke one or various causes such as the ones listed interrupts the combustion process from occuring at its set time, normally going by the term PRE-ignition is the mixture ignites before its timed moment and rattles the piston side to side causing all sorts of wear n tear and costly damage. That rattle is what is referred to as a KNOCK or PINGING. Other form of knock can probably be more so referred to as PISTON SLAP, which is basically the same event of the piston rattling from side to side, but normally occurs on the power stroke and is more so due to the tolerances being too sloppy or loose and allowing the piston to move around too freely in the bore during normal operation. Both are bad for engine life...specifically piston life
  22. I spose it makes it more difficult when mounting stuff like that to a road car used occassionally for race use. Alot easier in a race car where everything is gone...you can just put it anywhere Morgan Park is a CAMS track Also heard some really disheartening news about QR possibly not lasting a great deal longer, various financial troubles might see it closing down sometime in the future.....i farking hope that that rumour is bullshit cause thats really limiting the amount of tracks around for racing on
  23. that sounds about right.
  24. Ok the race car is going in for another tune and this is what it has.. 1997 R33 S2 GTST RB25/30 Race Car. Cranking the boost right up (25psi) and were hoping for about 300rwkw. The figures seem low in comparison to everyone elses for the mods done. What would you guys think it should see power wise? They dont tune or power run the car in shootout mode, they think its a wank for some reason.
  25. starter motor maybe on its way out or shitting itself? Or you have teeth chipped off the flywheel perhaps and the first three seconds is where its grinding on them and then starting the car when it actually connects with some good teeth.
