umm i thought they had a star drive around the outside and the inside had the half moon to marry up to the opp half moon on the end of the cam.

Must be a big facility....those draglines are absolutely massive. They are like a 5 story building on tracks about as big as a B double combo, with a massive boom with wires and pulleys and a big arse bucket on the end. Saw half a dozen of em at Moura up north at the coal mines, everything there is dirty and big! Some pictures would be real sweet when you get the time and even some of the factory would be cool too mate. Cheers.

change to old cams and use pre cas? would that work perhaps if it is even a problem?
-
both series 1 and 2 have vct...but like macgyver said physcially the heads are the same...so it doesnt matter...
-
with the tyre thing...the blokes at mercury told us to put some skinny ass tyres on there to get a higher hp reading, we had 255 semi slicks at the time.

did you extend hose right over the lip on the pipe so it seals properly when you changed the clamp? and did you clean up all the oil thats there at the moment so when it does leak again you can be positive of where it is leaking from exactly just incase it is coming from somewhere else.

there is a difference between facing the head for a flat surface to machining it down to increase your CR, but normally people do that with headgasket choice these days...alot easier.
-
yeh its worth it...if your engine is already pulled out and apart and your doing other mods to it. But just for the sake of pulling your std motor apart and getting the head port n polished and then faced with a maybe on the valves if thats what hes referring to for the 'head redone' then its prob not worth the hassle for the money even if it is cheap.

yeh Richard is a good bloke...i work down the road from him...just got a new cooler from him for the race car. What does he buy of you Col?
-
get one of those ARE custom grill fit oil coolers. get rid of the grill and put it in its place...good airflow thats not getting used fully. Right inbetween the headlights.

Article In The Courier Mail About The Closure Of Mt Cotton To Drifters
r33_racer replied to AzzurrA's topic in Queensland
written exceptionally well jason, hopefully it will count for something. I reckon give it a few years and once all racetracks are gone, and young kids are dying left, right and centre cause they drag, drift and circuit race on the streets then maybe the government will realise how to rectify the problem. Fark i wish we had a circuit like nurburgring nordschleife somewhere in qld. We just need a government full of rev heads elected in, and bingo...smiles for everyone :O well everyone that counts anyway (car enthusiasts/racers) -

What suburb you in mate? i was implying that maybe i could have come round and see your car setup and held the camera for you haha. Our rb30 is in the race car so cant take it out on the street makes me cry seeing it locked in the shed for 2-3 weeks of every month. Just a silly side note, I have macgyver theme song as my message tone on my phone lol. Great show

It would seem these days in motorsport if you can exploit something to your advantage, and it helps well good on you. Its the only way to go to be competitive, especially in heavily controlled classes. Nobody follows the rules so literally, i think you find all the people who do are the ones running down the back of the field! -
2nd or 3rd for kyles manifolds. Very nice work.

Can also have piston knock, caused by too loose clearances when an engine is rebuilt, and just under load the piston can rattle on power stroke, even when fuel is good quality and timing isnt too far advanced. So having a good tight engine helps keep that form of knock to a minimal level. Our old rb25, destroyed the ringlands off std pistons, and we had a race meeting the next weekend...out she came quick rebuild with some acl forgies and new bearings and usual crap, went for tuning and it wouldnt stop knocking, take all the timing out, loads of fuel no boost and it would still knock. go figure.

what would you want the instructions for? You dont need em, just go off the pictures from the booklet and common sense. Its really quite simple.

Update: 1st Track Day With New Suspension Set-up
r33_racer replied to justinfox's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
everybody is different...all i can say when it comes to these things...some people favour firm/hard others soft/wavy and so on. It really comes down to whose actually driving the car and how they want it setup. -
thats why you need a passenger to hold the camera for you....hehe Your in brisbane right? on the northside perhaps?

your whiteline setup wasnt Sydnykids kit was it? I think i read somewhere else that you got it from fulcrum or somewhere and you havent really liked it. Obviously our cars are going to be different, as we race an r33 gtst...where youve got an almighty GTR. I wish i had a gtr haha...*cries* -

yes so when tapping a hole, and you dont want to get filings/swarf in the pipe or wherever, you put heaps of grease on the tap and go slow and it catches it all and no problemo. Well thats my trick...dont go telling anyone. -

Update: 1st Track Day With New Suspension Set-up

not to be negative mate...but we just ditched out teins for SK's whiteline/bilstein setup and its about a million times better and evertything is just guess setup at the moment. I didnt get a chance to try it out in the races. only in practice and qualifying. But i believe the new suspension lead to the tailshaft shitting(shearing uni's in half) itself as we were actually getting some rear squat off the line now, the teins didnt let anything do anything, and we would just get wheelspin. Anyway i hope you can get it setup just as good as before if not better. Might take sometime to adjust to the stiffness of them, if they were anything like ours everything will be firm and stiff, youll get heaps of wheelspin and understeer and no body roll at all and absolutely no weight transfer front or back. Apologies if i sound rude or biased, but i really dont like teins anymore after past experiences with them in road cars and race cars. -
