  1. has anyone actually got a auto trimmer to repair their front seat? or a quote on it? i'm in the same boat at the moment... most seat covers i've seen look sh!t lol and when I do find a set that are a good fit etc, they are expensive! I think i'll look around for an auto trimmer in Perth and when im back next week, go get a quote as well
  2. awesome, that will keep him happy cheers for the reply mate
  3. Hey all, I'm posting this question on behalf of my mate who was recently had a 'special moment' whilst doing the internal LED conversion for his r33. Long story short, he had almost finished the cluster section of the conversion and in his excitement he knocked the release latch on his work lamp.. The end result was the latch releasing and the work lamp crashing down onto the circuit board on the back of the cluster - putting a nice crack most of the way across it and breaking both bottom mounting tabs. Subsequent attempts to get it working in the car have failed (its gone to car part heaven haha) I was trying to convince him that the glass is half full and that this is the perfect opportunity for him to justify getting an GTR cluster instead but his bank balance threw that idea out the window LOL So the plan now is to get another 33 cluster from a wrecker/ebay/forums etc. His main concern is that he doesn't want to end up with a cluster that has an incorrect amount of KMS on it. Neither of us are a fan of trying to modify the kms on the replacement cluster to reflect the correct kms from the original cluster either. The idea we've got is to take the odometer from the original broken cluster and put it into the replacement cluster, but before we do (and possibly ruin another cluster) I'm hoping you guys might be able to confirm a couple of things: * Is it possible (and simple enough) to take the odometer from the broken cluster and put it into the replacement one? - Thus giving him a replacement cluster but keeping his original kms? * Does it matter if he puts a series 2 odometer into a series 1 cluster or visa-versa? (I cant remember if his cluster is S1 or S2) Thanks in advance Cheers Adam
  4. Cheers Terry, i'll have a look around for an auto trimmer in Perth
  5. Hey all, I'm wondering if anyone out there has managed to repair the common rip in the drivers seat and if so, how? I've seen the odd photo where someone has re-stitched it back up themselves, however the rip in my seat has gotten a bit too big to re-stitch.. Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated Cheers Adam
  6. Hey All, Been ages since I last posted on here, Always reading As the topic title says, I'm chasing peoples suggestions and their rough pricing on insurance for R33's. I know theres a lot of insurance posts on here, i'm still reading through them. A lot seem to be quite old hence this post. Now, I've had my 33 for about 5 years now. Its always been insured and over the years its got cheaper.. Finally after paying their exorbitant amounts when i was younger!, but this week the insurance company has decided to do the opposite with their 'yearly contract renewal' Car Details: 1997 R33 GTS-T 5sp Mag wheels / Lowered Tint / Alarm & Immob BOV 3" Exhaust Always garaged in a full enclosed, locked up garage. Car is lucky to be driven 2000kms a year Me: 28 years old Had my license since 17 No accidents and no claims. Rating 1 60% NCB (Think its rating one? its the top one, whichever that is) Clean driving history, not been refused or lost my license or anything like that Only person who drives the car. Original Details: Insured for: $15,200 Full Comp Insurance Monthly payment: $79.31 Year payment: $868.65 New Details: Insured for: $12,160 Full Comp Insurance Monthly payment: $85.28 Year Payment $1023.40 So basically they have reduced the value of my car by $3040 whilst increasing the premium by $154.75. Fun Fun.. So... I'm asking you, fellow skyline owners what you are paying (roughly) for your insurance, how much its insured for (with what mods) and who you are insuring it through? Hopefully I dont get flamed for 'another insurance post' and hopefully if people post up their details, this might help other people too Cheers Adam
  7. I tried to get what i thought was a c clip off last night. It's not a c clip per-say its more of a c barrel. it looks like a c clip from the top, then you start pulling on it and notice that it extends down under the hand brake. its like a tube but in the shape of a c-clip any more ideas?? surely some one has pulled one of these apart or off before?/ Ta Adam
  8. mine came with the car from japan too, it used to free spin but not unscrew. i could never find a way that it would lock out like a proper drift button and then one day it just came off completely and wouldnt go back on, hence wanting to put the replacement back on.. any one out there have any ideas on how to put a button from one handbrake onto another one?? adam
  9. Lol glad to see im not alone! I've hated that drift handbrake ever since i got it and its been the bane of many "Rice" comments lol Now i've got a replacement black button (original) i just need to know how to put it on
  10. Hey Guys, Most likely this is a silly question, but when I got my 33 from JAP it came with a "Funky Blue" "drift" hand brake button. I've managed to get that off and source a replacement hand brake (Couldnt buy just the button) now on my hand brake, it was quite simple, unscrew the button and it came off, on the replacement one however, i cant unscrew it and theres a c clip around the button but for the life of me i cant get it out and i dont want to pull any harder incase i break it? So my question is, how the heck do i remove this button from the replacement hand brake and then fit it to my existing hand brake?? Sorry for the stupid question, but thanks in advance Adam
  11. May be interested in the lip for $100 would you be willing to post to perth?
  12. Its called the blend door actuator http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pr...Aircon+clicking http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/An...Aircon+clicking http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Cl...Aircon+clicking
  13. Its a known fault with 33's - do a search on the forum as i cant remember exactly what it is called. From memory its a little plastic thing that breaks. If i find it i'll post the link here. A short term fix is to put the AC on both face and feet mode and it will stop clicking. Apart from that i believe the entire dash has to come out to get to this little thing Adam
  14. Thanks for the replies guys, can anyone tell me though with regards to POD filters - i've been told that the pod filter has to be "separated" from the rest of the engine bay when you take the car over the pits? Can anyone confirm this? Thanks Adam
  15. cool thanks for that. its a standard k&n filter and its secured quite well One other question, a while ago my abs failed - the brakes still work perfectly but the abs itself doesnt work and the abs light is on the dash. if i remove the globe so the light doesnt come on it shouldnt be a problem right?? Cheers adam
  16. Sorry to bring this old topic back up, but i have done a few search's and one question that i have not been able to find with regards to yellow stickers is with POD filters.. will the pits pass a car with a pod filter fitted? IE one without any shielding or anything around the pod? Cheers Adam
  17. Does anyone know were I can get one of these kits? Or anyone have one they want to sell? I've tried Amec but he doesnt have anymore at the present time cheers adam
  18. Hey guys, I'm looking at buying some new tires and rims, after finding out just how *shot* my current tyres are.. The ones im looking at buying are a set of Speedy Inferno (machined) rims and tyres. So far i've been quoted by Tyrepower on a set of 18" Inferno's 18x8.0 with a set of Kumo's 235/40/18's for $1980 and i'd just like other users opinions on if this is a good price? I'm about to start ringing around to find other prices, but thought i'd ask here as well
  19. Thanks for your replies, I did think about doing the fire and theft only but just incase dad decided to drive it whilst i was away (even around the block) i woulnt want it to go anywere without insurance! I got a call back from HBF, to insure it under my dads name only $729 a year / $66.91 a month - I'm going to go with this option because that way it will cost me like $130ish to cover it for the 2 months I'm away and then I can re-insure it with just cars or whoever is cheaper Thanks for the replies Cheers Adam
  20. Hi All, Hoping someone might be able to help me, I'm going overseas (Europe) for 2 months from this sunday. My insurance with Just cars is about to run out and to renew with them is going to cost me 700/1100 (6month/1yr) lump sums. What im hoping to do is to insure the car in my dads name for 2 months whilst im away and then change it back to my name (hopefully cheaper or at least have the ability to pay monthly instead of yearly/6monthly). I have asked Just Cars to quote on it with dads name as the only driver and it came out about $70'ish cheaper. Does anyone else know anyway around this? like can you put the insurance on hold or something like that? My intention is to have the car garaged (not at home) and started once a week by my old man Also does anyone know of any other places that would insure a skyline apart from just cars? I have just rang HBF asking for a quote and i know the RAC doesnt do skylines (ps yes i am about to search for previous insurance posts to see, but thought i'd ask in the same post anyway) Thanks in advance Adam
  21. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies so far. Just wanted to add RE Kushil Abeysinghe The car has a stereo in it at the moment, with an MP3 deck and sub, the stereo will be removed and replaced with the stereo it came with which isnt bad but doesn't do MP3's and i'll be leaving the wiring in for the amp's etc. Its also had its timing belt changed at the 100k service Cheers Adam
  22. Hi Guys, Long time reader and almost first time poster, I've been reading the site for quite a while now and been on a couple of the cruises but alas the time has come for me to sell my baby - As I plan to go to europe in 3 months. What i'm after is just some help from you guys to determine what my car is worth. Since I bought it, i've never really looked around at pricing on other cars or even into selling it. Its: 1997 Series 2 R33 M-Spec (Has the usual, full electrics, airbags, climat control, hicas etc) Bog stock 128,000kms - Still drives like new. (127,300 at the moment and will have its next service before I sell it.) 5spd manual Heavy duty clutch - replaced at 97,000 Car was imported by Autoworx at 89,000kms - I am the first owner since car registered in Aus Standard R33 Rims - These are a bit scratched, Came like that when bought (Tires all still good) Serviced every 10,000kms and Oil + filter changed every 5000 After market POD filter fitted After market BOV bought but not fitted Was dyno'd at 210RWHP 20% tint done by TKO tinting Front bar needs a respray - stone chip below driving lights has flaked a bit + someone clipped the front bar with a shopping trolly (white mark) - Although I will be getting quotes to get this done before selling if possible Interior is virtually immaculate - Drivers seat has small cut in it (Came like that - im guessing from getting in and out of the car) and there is 2 or 3 small holes under the passenger side dash from what i guess used to be a mobile phone cradle Car always garaged Prob more stuff I can write, but this isnt a for sale thread or anything, just more a way for me to get an idea what to advertise it for $$ wise. I've been "thinking" about selling it for a while but due to how much I love my car i've been putting it off, but now europe is only 3 months off i've gotto make sure I am ready to go.. Cheers Adam
