  4. Yeah, Now I know for next time ..... Cheers Scott
  5. Update: Rang the seller back today, after I'd backed off from the sale based on info from the RTA, RTA Engineering Divison and RTA Vehicle ID Board. Well, guess what? He tells me as he couldn't sell it, he gave it to his brother in law. Tells me his brother got it blue slipped, green slipped and registered ! Now, maybe he's BS'ing, but I don't know why he would, other than to annoy me. So there you go - apparently it is possible to register a repairable writeoff from interstate, here in NSW, without having to register it first interstate. Cheers Scott
  6. Yep, I'd say that's the one. Cheers Scott
  7. Would make sense for it to go to Melb. Inspection and rego gets you a pretty cheap Stag on the road ? PM me for sellers details, as I don't want to publicise it here.
  8. I'd put a deposit down. Then, after research, decided to pass. Hence why it thought I'd mention it here.
  9. Ok, a bit more info today. RTA Tech Support and Vehicle ID Unit in NSW both said the same thing. Vehicle has to be inspected, then registered in another state, before being transferred to NSW Rego & Blue Slipped here. This is apparently the same for any vehicle that's a. Repairable Writeoff. It can be registered in any other state first, doesn't have to be the one it was written off in. Just dosnt seem to be worth it to me. To make it a driver in NSW would be a major hassle. As for a parts car, I just don't have the space or time to break it down myself. If anyone here is keen, I can put them in touch with the seller ? Cheers Scott
  10. Checked out the auction listing, but all it says is "repairable writeoff" According to the info I got here, it has to be inspected, and registered for 6 months in Victoria. Then it "might" be able to be transferred to NSW rego. But it will always have the writeoff recorded against its history. Checked it out and it's pretty clean. Although it does have the bright brown/organge leather interior Has an aftermarket exhaust and cone filter and seems to drive well. As a parts car, I've been told it's only worth $1k for the wreckers to buy ? Cheers
  11. G'day all - wondering if anyone can throw some light on this ? I just bought an unregistered black Stagea ARX, here in Sydney. After a bit of detective work, I think I've found out it belonged to Wagon Girl, here on the SA Forums Anyway, it was sold to a guy in Sydney by Pickles Auctions in Melbourne, as a "Repairable Writeoff" without plates. The guy who sold it to me said all it needed was a left side front lower control arm ? Does anyone here remember the car ? Vic Rego was H3RWGN and the owner seems to have been named Kate. Yes, I've pm'd her, but she was last active here over 12 months back. I've been told once by the RTA that it can't be registered in NSW, without first being repaired and registered in Vic, then transferred to NSW. Then a few hours later was told by another RTA person that it could be repaired here, as long as title could be proven, then as long as it was taken off the WOVR Register, it could then be inspected and registered in NSW ? Thanks for any help from anyone who's gone through this before .... Cheers
  12. Scotch locks have been replaced - first thing I did as soon as I saw them. Hate those bloody things. The IPM behind the battery had corrosion a few months back. Removed and cleaned it completely. Been working fine since. I can understand the head unit/climate control failure, but not the folding mirros at the same time ?? Cheers Scott
  13. No power coming through the loom to the head unit. No constant, ignition or standby. Also, powered the battery in the car with another via jumper leads, just to check that the current drop on start wasn't too great. Nothing changed. Had the head unit out and checked earths, connectors, loom etc. All looks normal. Checked BCM wiring and loom - nothing obviously wrong. Alarm is connected next to BCM via 4 x scotch locks. All connections test ok. Cleaned and re-fitted all visible earthing points under bonnet. Cheers Scott
  14. Yep, I agree. But an aftermarket unit won't work either without power going to it ! Cheers Scott
  15. Ok, no power to the head unit at all, not even standby. All fuses test good ? Cheers Scott
  16. I replaced the head unit. No problems that I remember. Cheers Scott
  17. Battery tests ok, and it should have full voltage when running anyway. Tested most of the visible earths, but will hunt for the hidden ones today and check. Cheers Scott
  18. Yep, and I had the same thing happen just a few months back. Major corrosion in the module behind the battery, that'd obviously been going on for years. Removed and replaced all corroded parts and has been working fine for almost 5000kms now. But it was the first thing I checked and all appears ok there. I guess it's possible that its developed another fault related to the first, but the issues with the radio, climate control and mirrors all point towards something else, IMHO anyway. Cheers Scott
  19. Yeah, thats what I thought at first too, except there's no mention of the wing mirrors failing. And they're nowhere near any stereo wiring etc. Plus, the stereo head unit was replaced 5 months ago, with one from a 50,000 km car. Cheers Scott
  20. Thanks for the Info PN-Mad I searched previously, but couldn't find anything other than mention of the ignition key position and wear factors in the ignition barrel. No mention of the wing mirrors being involved either. Another possibility is apparently the BCM failing? Although its strange, as the car starts and drives with everything else working normally ? Cheers Scott
  21. Thanks for that. Pulled and checked all fuses one by one, with multimeter. All good. Cheers Scott
  22. Hi all, Long time lurker but have had some great help from some of the guys here over the years. I currently have an 01 M35 Stagea. Great car and I've kept it standard, so far, other than removing the front prop shaft as the forward universal was shot and nobody seems to be able to supply or repair. But, went to drive off today after being parked overnight and ... No climate control, which was stuck on the last setting with the fan on full bore. No radio, no climate control display. No pop-up screen display. Also, the wing mirrors don't swing out as they usually do. Nobody I've spoken too today has heard of this, so thought I'd ask here. I've checked all three fuse boxes and all fuses test good. Any ideas ??? Cheers Scott
