  1. I installed one of these on my 03 350GT coupe. The factory head units have a spare jack for an external cd changer which is what these plug into. USB drives, android and apple devices all plug in and play through a usb cable, or over bluetooth if you buy the extension. (I did) Tracks can be switched and volume controlled using the factory controls (Including steering wheel controls if you have them) The cable included can be routed into the glovebox easily enough, with no need for drilling extra holes. The unit itself can be hidden away inside the center console beneath the head unit. http://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adapters/nissan_usb_ipod_adapter_direct_digital_interface.html I'm currently looking into a custom android tablet to replace the factory nav screen, which will connect to the grom unit by USB.
  2. Hello, Looking to buy a Motordyne Shockwave TXD2 catback exhaust, need it shipped to Adelaide too. Reply here or PM me with an offer if you have one, or know of any being sold! Thanks
  3. Just incase anyone is interested, I had an alarm/immobiliser installed by GT Autosound (http://www.gtautosound.com) a coupe of days ago. Eventually we decided to go with the Autowatch 446rli instead of the 555 CLAM, as the CLAM does not have automatic immobilisation and only 1 immobiliser cut whereas ADR rules require two immobiliser cuts and automatic immobilisation within 40 seconds of ignition being turned off. In hindsight, I would have gone with the CLAM as Regency didn't even test the immobiliser (I had my remote on me the whole time) and now I have to carry two key fobs around, and the buttons on my factory remote are now useless as the alarm will trigger if I open any of the doors without using the Autowatch remote. But at least I now have a very good alarm system, and the install was done very well. it also includes a glass-break sensor. George (From GT Autosound) wired it into the factory immobiliser LED to ensure it all looks stock. Highly recommended if anyone wants an alarm install done in SA!
  4. I'm in SA and am looking to get one of these kits from Sinergy Motorsport in the near future. If anyone else gets/has got one already, let me know what you think of it. If anyone knows of a cheaper place to get these, that would also be appreciated!
  5. Just incase anyone is curious, I called a few places and found GT Auto Sound in Adelaide are able to install this alarm in my V35, and said it will be fine for registration. I'm getting it installed next Wednesday, so will let everyone know how it goes.
  6. Another one happening this weekend for any who don't know! (It will be my first, having only received my 350GT a week ago.) Details: https://www.facebook.com/groups/vrxsa/ Just incase anyone wants to say hello, here's my ride/face:
  7. Can anyone tell me if the Autowatch 555 CLAM, along with the factory immobiliser would be enough for ADR approval for compliance/registration purposes? Or would I be better off just going for a cheap transponder immobiliser for registration and then installing something better at a later date? I'd rather not have to pay for two immobilisers (Plus labor) if I can help it. I'm based in SA, so am also looking for a place to source and install it, so if you have any suggestions let me know! (I've heard GU Auto Concepts may be able to help, so have sent them an email)
  8. I had a quick look for the part numbers but couldn't find them. The link I proivded does say "Including air conditioner, climate controller, dash pocket, blank bracket and bracket radio mounting", so I assume that's everything I need. The metra kits are close to $600 anyway, so I may aswell get the genuine part. I didn't buy this car because I'm concerned about money, haha.
  9. I recently received my 350GT and want to upgrade the head unit to a double DIN unit. I saw that Metra facias aren't as nice as genuine Nissan ones. Can anyone confirm this is the correct part before I pay for it from japan? https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/4353 I have the BOSE sound system without navigation. Thanks!
  10. Has anyone used these guys before? http://www.autoperfection.com.au/security/ I just got my 350GT and want an alarm system installed. It says they install Dynamco systems which have an option which upgrades existing factory systems. I've sent them an email, but if anyone else has any input or suggestions, that would be great!
  11. Nope. Though I do have a text message (backed up) from the dealer saying "You've paid $760".
  12. I do have invoices for the total amount of the car, plus a copy of the rego certificate. My bank transaction log also shows the payment to the business.
  13. I have a dealer story too, this one took place shortly before the lovely Christmas of 2015. I nearly bought an imported car from a car dealer in SA. (I won't name it but some of you can probably easily guess who I'm referring to) We had some sort of weird agreement, it was around Christmas time and they said they could register the car for me and have it to me by Christmas, even though a purchase contract had not been signed. They asked for my financial details over the phone to register the car, which I gave. However the finance company who they had been in contact with decided to close early that day, so I did not receive the car within the timeframe they promised. At this stage, I was just going to pick up the car when they reopened after christmas. Over christmas, I did some research, and found that this dealer had been caught three times selling cars with wound back odometers. After posting a Facebook status asking friends for advice, I had several people I knew personally telling me to absolutely avoid the dealer, and that one of them had bought a wound back car in the past, went through a huge hassle to get the money back, and then immediately saw the car re-listed with the incorrect mileage, which was then soon re-sold. My friend tracked down the buyer, informed him the odometer had been wound back, and when the person contacted the dealer, the dealer threatened legal action against my friend. After learning all this information, I decided I did not want to do business with this dealer. No purchase agreement had been signed, but the dealer immediately became hostile, told me I would not be getting my money back, and hung up on me. I have tried getting legal advice, but have been very busy with work, and all the advice so far has been unhelpful as "No contract was signed", so for some reason that means they can just have my money for giving me absolutely nothing in return. The most useful advice I received is to write a letter of demand for the money, and if that fails, take them to the Minor Civil Claims Court. Still haven't written the letter yet... luckily you have 3 years to do it. (Though I won't be waiting that long of course) The dealership in question currently owes me $760. Anyway, I now have a fantastic car on it's way from Japan thanks to Iron Chef Imports! So at least I learned my lesson.
  14. I'm aware it doesn't work in AU without various conversions etc (I did read the "Read before posting" thread after all), but having fuel consumption info etc. would be handy, plus it looks cool! I'll still be getting a double DIN unit with Sat/Nav, Bluetooth, touchscreen etc regardless. The pop up screen is just a nice touch, plus gives a few options for future modding, such as having Ipod album/artists displayed on it, or a reverse camera. The other main reason I was asking is because the Nismo instrument cluster apparently only works if you have the Sat/Nav installed.
  15. I read through that several times, I didn't see anything regarding moving the Sat/Nav from one V35 to another which didn't have it in the past. If it's there, feel free to link me to the post.
  16. Does anyone know if it would be possible to take the Sat/Nav screen + components out of a V35 (Say, one that is being wrecked for parts) and put them into one without the Sat/Nav and get it working?
  17. All good, thanks for the replies so far. How do I tell what series my V35 is? It's a 2003 350GT coupe. As far as I can tell, the nismo cluster is only for models before November 2004, after that the instrument panel was refined.
  18. Are you referring to me saying that the Nismo cluster only working with the Sat/Nav version? It says so here: https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/1197 "**ONLY for MY2004/11 and before with genuine TV/DVD Navi equipped model." As for the "limited to 180 km/h" part, I can't recall off the top of my head, but read that Japanese street cars are electronically limited to 180 km/h. If either of the above are incorrect, let me know. Or were you referring to something else when you said "where did you come from with that nonsense"?
  19. I just received a few more images of my V35 to be, just before it leaves Japan. (2003 Premium 6sp Manual, 80k km) Thought I'd share as it looks pretty amazing! No Sat/Nav, but all the other premium features are there including the BOSE system. I'm not sure about a sunroof, none of the pictures show the roof well enough for me to tell, can anyone notice it for me? I'm not too fussed either way, but it will be a cool surprise when I see it in person if it's there.
  20. I noticed there are Nismo instrument clusters for the earlier V35's, which show the speedo going up to 280km/h, as opposed to only 180km/h. (They also have the Nismo logo which looks awesome) However they apparently require the Sat/Nav package, which unfortunately the V35 I'm importing doesn't have. Does anyone know if it's absolutely essential to have the Sat/Nav package, or if there is another option for an aftermarket instrument cluster showing the speedo going above 180km/h? If not, I don't suppose it's possible to take out the Sat/Nav components from another V35, say one that is being scrapped for parts (Already seen two on gumtree which both have the Sat/Nav package) and get it working, has anyone ever tried this? I'm not planning on taking it anywhere near 180 km/h on the street, but in the future it would be cool to have the option of tracking it once or twice for fun, so it would be useful to have the option of seeing speeds above 180km/h. Plus, having the Sat/Nav package just makes the car feel more "complete", even though it's not useful in Australia. (I understand the speed is also electronically limited to 180km/h but can be removed, would this be defectable?) Sorry if these question has been answered elsewhere, couldn't find anything with the search function however. Thanks for any information! P.S. My V35 has a manual transmission
  21. Thanks! Sorry about Google Drive, I forgot to set the permissions so anyone can view, all done now. How do the rest of you upload pics? The import agent generally takes care of most of the importing and compliance work, all I need to do is pay the invoices they send me, and find a way to kill time. I'm planning to get a nissmo rear spolier for it, and add in a bluetooth/touchscreen navigation/music unit soon after it arrives. (Assuming I still have any money left haha) Cruise control would also be a nice feature to have.
  22. Totally forgot about this thread, I finally bought one! 2003 Black Premium with manual transmission. I bought it from an auction through Iron Chef Imports, and should have it within 10 or so weeks. Keep an eye out for some pics when it arrives! In the meantime here's some pictures from the import agent: Front: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1Srit-ld3wTOEpKeF92NFNGUjA Interior: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1Srit-ld3wTOExEUVN5bnlNd2YxQVEzZzdwdDV1YUFOcUE4 Rear: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1Srit-ld3wTUkNVTC1Nc2ZNWm8 (Also I'm no longer on my P's just incase you were wondering!)
  23. Hey people, Just recently purchased a 2003 V35 350GT from a Japanese auction through Iron Chef Imports. It's a manual transmission, premium model, 80,000 km. It's in excellent condition inside and out, except for a few minor things such as scratches on the wheels which will be seen to once it arrives. Very happy with my purchase, but won't see it for about 10 weeks. Oh the pain! A few photos are below, I was also sent many more detailed photos from the import agent. Once it arrives I'll post a few "Fresh from Japan" pics in the appropriate thread. Only downside is no TV/Nav, which by itself isn't a big deal, but I was hoping to get a Nismo instrument cluster which apparently only works with the TV/Navigation package. Oh well, can't have everything! If you see me around in Adelaide, feel free to say hey! 24. I'm on my P-plates and want to buy a 350GT sometime in the near future, and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about whether it's legal for me to drive? I know it's not turbo or supercharged and has less than 8 cylinders, so doesn't meet the criteria for being prohibited and it's also not included on the high-powered vehicles list. However the 350z is prohibited, and earlier models have the same engine as the 350GT. The 350GT is also banned for P-platers in other states. Car sales however, lists the 350GT as P-plate legal in SA, but I'm not so sure that would hold up with a police officer who says otherwise, haha. So, if anyone can clear things up for me, that would be great! I know a car like that with P-plates will probably make me a target for police but if I know it's definitely legal, there's not much they can do. Besides I'll have my P2's within a few months. Thanks!
