  1. yeah.. i'm out.. cya ross.. cya jason
  2. yeah.. dey cool. .only prob i was thinking when i thought about it.. 1jz-gte parts are available and things.. but the other crap like bodykits and just accessories like suspension, etc = very rare in australia.. basically every little thing would have to come from jap.. which would be cool - but add up into expensive car over time. But hell it would be original and cool
  3. maybe a chaser (or GTR really!) later on though.. i need some capital. yeah.. the drag GTR are nutz.. i'd be happy with 12's to start. .. it'll just be the cost of the turbo to get any lower that will be prohibitive
  4. .. a cunning plan i already have the block sitting under the house.. the other plan was a JZX90 chaser.. but i think i'd run into same probs as the r33.. the 1jz-gte is relatively expensive to modify also.
  5. sr20.. yeah.. could be done not a huge fan of the 4's though.. don't like an engine screaming its head off for the power.. hence the rb30det .. and no wanting an rb20det at any cost (revs too high to get power, snap/snap on and off) anyhow, this work i'm doing in the background is shitting me right up the wall.. better iron out the bugs coz i wanna sleep now
  6. .. next time i've been thinking a bit more of going more as to what i can afford as i get the cash.. so piece by piece on a fairly cheap car to start. Rather than having the expensive car to start with and then having to pay for mods ontop of that (what i've found with the 33)
  7. ..probably a cheap R32.. in auto.. then throw all the drivetrain .. and get an RB30DET built.. nice bottom end first with forged pistons.. then maybe some minor head work to the RB25 head.. then bolt together hopefully myself and into the car, again, hopefully myself. stick at the back of that an RB25DET gearbox and twin plate i guess. Yes - big asks ! If not, somebody else can do the assembly/fitting but i'd prefer to save as much as possible. hopefully have one of the fastest RWD out there (in QLD anyhow)
  8. or even worse a $10k S13 kicks their ass
  9. hahaha.. yeah, gold.. like when u see at the strip all these guys with their newish XR8's, HSV and all of this and exhausts and powerchips and everything else - $$$ ..and still they get low 14's to high 13's at best.
  10. aggg.. yeah.. bad i still got my old ones.. look ok, but hard to tell how warn or otherwise from just looking at them i guess
  11. ived been lucky with my cars.. no major problems .. all have been jap or aussie-jap though
  12. i noticed mine doesnt idle as smooth with the camgear (retarded cam timing) but overall better after that.. so its probably better to have it that way i reckon
  13. shit.. so your idler bearings gave way? mine gavin said "they look a bit worn.. best to change them" and i ummed a bit, but in the end just told him to do it.. probably not going to effect me, but next owner it could backfire on if they were left.
  14. yeah, it can be a bit like that.. then you think "put enough into this one already.. time to move on" how long u had yours?
  15. i tend to have about a 2 year cycle with my cars.. this is getting near the end of that ..
  16. bit sick of it.. costing me too much in non-performance related items.. bit worried about depreciation really kicking in soon. i really want something with around 300rwkw+. I could do it to the R33, but think i'd prefer to start over with something else and everything i learned from the r33 i think.
  17. meh to rb20det all round.. JaFF: sounds perfectly normal.. One way you can reduce the spool up is to add an exhaust camgear (i noticed a fair change with this in), get cooler air in (shield pod, or air feed it), reduce rotational mass (flywheels, etc), also try reducing the backpressure of your exhaust system will probably help.. maybe a dump pipe or get it heat wrapped. Electronic Boost control also helped mine spool up a tiny bit quicker (or at least smoother). I think the smoother and faster the engine revs to a certain point, the quicker the turbo will spool. There is probably proper physics there somewhere which somebody can explain.
  18. rb25.. haha.. well i found the pic i was looking for finally.. exactly the same funnily enough
  19. even on a 20k loan @ about 11-12% the interest on a personal loan over about 3 years will be about $6k. Thats not too much when you average it out over that time into a weekly amount. And the difference between say 8% and 12% will only be a few $hundred in the end. Again, if the interest is too much then... basically you'll struggle to get a "car" loan for an import
  20. have you tried a personal loan?
  21. now you got me weirded out Michizane .. i think the stock BOV is meant to go *above* that to near the top of the plenum.. the carbon canister one i'm not sure where the hell you have that going?? but i think that is too low.
  22. don't really matter i don't think.. plenum is the plenum.. its go the same pressure in it..
  23. knore: you got it right.. lower. the exhaust in my little pic there is HKS Super Dragger II .. i'd say its probably the only exhaust i'd want on my r33 after seeing/hearing quite a few but you probably don't want to know that.
  24. ummm.... cracked the crap out of it
  25. yeah, it looks bad without any at all.. especially seeing as it has some mounting holes or something behind them they were getting to the stage where they needed painting anyhow, but maybe they'll do for a bit.. can always sell them .. again!
