  1. I dont know how much taxes and import fees will be if I bring the car to Japan. If someone has one for sale for about 4000-5000 dollars than it might be not too expensive with bringing the car in.
  2. I am learning the basics with my RB20 engine. Not going to buy the 26 and then learn. I am listening to what to what people are telling me, trying to make sure I understand clearly. Yes there are mechanic(s) who will be helping me that I dont have to pay. There is a garage shop for people to rent time with all of the tools nesscessary to do car work. Its cheap. From what I can see, it seems easier to put the rb26 in and still use many things from the HCR32. Also can use the r32 gtr dash cluster and so on. Also I can use the gtr main loom and have to do less changes to the wiring compared to the RB25. If I can find a premade rb25 loom that would make a difference. But mainly it will come down to what is available for what price when it comes time for me to make the final decision of tuning to 350+ on the rb20 or buy a RB26 or 25. For now going to learn on my engine. Upgrade the fuel pump and replace my failing clutch, put a rb25 turbo on it(I have it already was on my first skyline auto) and get a basic boost up tune to drive on while I save up money for the other things. Or if I feel I can learn enough to do it, buy the Nistune and try basic boost up tuning after I have studied and learned enough to try it. I am just wondering if I do go engine swap and decide to pay the higher taxes and the registration fee for it, how much of a difference a rb25 with VVT compared to a rb26 with aftermarket cams and cam gears will be.
  3. Thank you Had stuff that I couldnt find with the other links I found. I found links from other sites.
  4. Yes I understand that he was kinda of helping me(?) I dont care what people say but if you want to help someone with something, you dont go around referring to them as retards. That is stupid. No need to answer at all. I am learning about the things I have read, and working on my car learning more about engines. As far as oil pans, I and my friends and other car people I know dont call them slumps, not anyone that I know of. Also as I mentioned before I read where people would say slump and than say the oil pan and cutting off parts of the GTR. So that made it sound like it was all different parts. Also I didnt know that the front will drive parts where connected to the oil pan until recently. Thats why I asked questions. NO I didnt treat anyone like shit. Once someone started with the verbal attacks, well I fired back even though it was all stupid. So no question is a stupid question. I didnt know so I asked, if someone has a problem well than I dont care. I respect people, and I expect to be respected back.. Yes I know how to change my oil pan, trans oil, diff oil. Done it, easy. So I if anyone can help me thats is good, if not, dont answer my post. Thanks for all who have helped.
  5. I didnt buy it. It was given to me. I have been given rb parts and car parts over the past couple of years. Didnt know what to do with them. I would like to buy a GTR, but with all of the Americans in Japan buying up the 32 GTRs, the prices have become rediculous. So at this point I am going to tune my car as I was asking about before to get as much horse power as I can out of it. As I am saving for that I am going to think about the idea of changing out engines. I havent seen too many RB25 Neos here for decent prices. Seen some 25's here and there. Usually looking broke down. There are lots of people wreacking skylines where I do my car stuff so I am watching for a 26 engine now that I see that it can get good power. There is one car here that is a 32 GTS-T that has a 26 put into it. So I see how that one drives. If I am wrong about stuff, I dont mind being told I am wrong, but I have found many things and I am trying to understand all of it. Thats why I ask questions. I do read first and ask questions.
  6. The reason why I am even entertaining the idea of putting in a 26 is because many people around me are saying it's worth it more if I am going to pull the engine. The taxes and extra registration and other things are the same for either engine so if I decide to change engines, than maybe it is worth it to put a 26 in.I have read on many forum and posts that the 25 is not as strong as the 26 and that I can get more power easier in the 26 vs the 25. I am also unsure of the variable cam timing and tuning the engine. I am still researching. First I am going to learn on my 20, tune it some and go from there. At that point I will decide to sell the car or change out engines. But if I do get a hold of a 26 before then, I will probably put it in. So if I am wrong with understanding that the 25 is not as strong and good as the 26, please let me know. I think that the 26 is easier to get the power level that I want.
  7. First F..k you. Two you are the retard to even keep replying to my posts. Lol b.tchAlso I said i was told by a mechanic that you do have to take out the engine to replace the mounts. From what I have seen at one of the shops I frequent, that is what they do. I didn't say I was going to put in a rb 26 for sure. I said I want to learn how to do it. If I did I would make s My whole point is to learn how to do it. I geating a spare engine to work on to familiarize my self with working on a engine/RB. The 26 is different yes but there are some basic similarities. So I I will learn to take care of what I got. Afterwards I will get a 26 if I choose to install one vs buying a gtr. Now you may do things differently. But if I have a experienced mechanic telling me something, i will listen. If you think maybe I have received the wrong information, let me know without being an ass. I am learning how to work on engines. I don't care what any of you think about me or say. Let me say clearly, I don't give a f..k about what you think. Three options, help, don't help or sod off. I frankly ignore you're stupid comments. Back to engines. So let's move past this stupidness and talk about engines and other car parts
  8. Hmm sounds like some people doesn't know that certain words in the real world when not online ends in a very mind opening lesson old school style. But hey that's in the real world. Back to online talk Actually I Yahoo'ed rb 26 and slump. I got the results I got. So if anyone has any info about any particulars I should be aware of please let me know. I already have a RB 25 oil pan to replace the one on a RB26. I will look into these provided links that are different from my search results. I am buying a cheap 20 engine to take apart and go into depth with to get a better understanding oh how to work on the internals and other parts of the engine without messing up my engine. I am also taking out my engine and transmission to replace the mounts (this was recommended by mechanic who is my friend who has nothing to gain monetaraly from helping me) with newer ones since the car is old. One of the mounts for the transmission is bending and the rubber part is split down the middle. This will give me experience with taking out and putting in a engine. Their are people here who can help me with knowledge and some other things some with my car.
  9. Thank you, Do you know where I would usually get base maps for? Or does it come with the aftermarket computer for a particular car?
  10. Hello Thanks for the positive replies from those who did help. If I have a chance to get a cheap RB26 I want to know what I would have to do to put it into my car if I every decided to put one in. I am learning about things, so I ask questions If I dont find what I am looking for when I research different forums and sites, I ask questions. If someone found different links from what I have found, well WTF they have found diffferen links than what I found, doesnt mean I didnt check. Also from the different forums certains terms such as slump was used to decribe a part of the 26 engine without saying what it is and than some posts would mention having to change the oil pan in the same posts. So I needed clarity. What is wrong with that? I have worked on my car and know most of the parts of my car and what it does or have a general idea of what it does. I have done many things on my car such as changing turbos, installing electronics, changing rotors, adding bushings, changed fuel pumps, cradles, BOV, installed intercoolers, and more, etc. If I dont know about something, I ask questions, that is how I learn. So if someone would please help me with learning about this I will greatly appreciate it.
  11. I am trying to learn things. So even when I research you guys act like a..'s. You have no idea what I can and can't do. So for all of you who want to criticize the f is what I have to say to you! For those of you who help, thank you
  12. Hello I am researching how to put a rb26 into a r32 gts-t. One thing that I keep reading is to cut the slump off . What is the slump and where is it located? Is it the part where the front steering racks would connect to the engine for 4w drive, that is a part of the oil pan? What would be the proper way to cut this off? Or do I just unbolt the parts? I have read that some people weld it and some don't. I've also read that some people leave it. I also read that the oil pan has be to changed to a rb20 or rb25 one. What I researched also is to keep the RB26 engine harness, GTR harness and dash, bolt on the rb20 ac pump, power steering pump, and use the gtr computer. Do I have this correct? What bout sensors? I didn't see anything about what sensors to keep or change. I went through several sources online including some from this forum.
  13. Hmm if I had found the answer I wouldn't be asking now would I? If new bearings are needed, I will buy. Doesn't make sense to buy new side flanges if I have too and not buy the bearings right?! The housing is apart.
  14. Hello I was given a Nismo 2way diff but one of the side flanges has to be replaced. It came in a R32 GTST diff housing. Went to Nissan to order a new one from Nismo and they side it is same as stock diff flange on my car. But the person didn't seem sure. Does anyone know if this is true or not? Do I use my stock diff side flange with the Nismo 2 Way? If so should I get new bearings to go with the 2 way? I am planning to keep the diff in the housing it came with.
  15. Hello A few months ago I asked for help to learn to tune. I was given some links to help me learn. I understand the basics of what tuning is now. But I want understand how to tune. What values do you look for and how do you know your car is with in safe limits. Also how do you know what your stock settings are? I am going to buy a cheap RB 20 and learn how to build it up and tune. I have access to a shop and tools where I can work on things. Can someone help me or point me in the right direction so I'll know what I am doing? Yes I have researched , but can't find any info about how to tune maps, what values to look for, etc. I am having my car tuned professionally so this is not for tuning my main car. It's for learning.
  16. Hello For those of you who work on, mod, build, rebuild your engine, what would you say are the biggest mistakes people make when doing it that causes them to mess up and or blow their engine? I am learning about engines, have the RB 20,26,25 shop manual. I plan on buying a used 20 or 25 for cheap to learn on.
  17. Yes I have researched. I have found a couple different ones I want to use, I am asking for opinions because maybe someone has used a particular brand and model that I listed and can give me feed back from their experience. Thanks for your reply. Everyone here is so quick to say search search, well I did search, I came here with specific models. This is a forum where people are supposed to be able to ask opioions, find feed back and so on. I will install the clutch with some help from people who know how to properly install the clutch. I can go to a auto work shop for people who work on their own cars, that I am able to do many different jobs on the car. I dont have to go to a paid shop for everything. I have done quite a bit on my car and was taught how to do quite a bit, but the things I ask are either because I dont know and cant find the info I am looking for or I want to get knowledge and opinions. That is how a person learns. The problem with asking mechanics here is that each shop has their own perferance, if its a retail shop like Autobacs or a dealer shop or some other shops, they will not install anything that is not considered "Vehicle registration certified" or if you dont have the special registration done showing that the car was registered officially(paying extra fees) with the aftermarket approved for road parts. Also some shops dont have the answers. I asked Nissan about the Nismo clutch parts. They didnt have any answer. All that they would say is that it is not legal to use it on the road. It is legal but since its not a OEM Nissan part, they wont put it on the car, but you can order Nismo parts from them. Where I live is close to the Nissan OEM parts factory and Nismo Parts factory, so easy to get parts new.
  18. Tried the website, but when I click on the links on their site, it goes to a medical website. Maybe they havent been keeping up their website.
  19. You know you guys can ....I've researched about them. I am trying to get people's opinions. If you don't want to help, the stay the... off of my post. Just so you know, I do my research and I have a aftermarket clutch(new )set that was given to me, but it's for the track.
  20. Hello I am choosing between clutches for my car. I am looking at the Nismo Sports Clutch Copper Mix. I have access to a new clutch plate, just need to buy the clutch pressure plate and flywheel. A ORC 409D I have access to the pressure plate and I think the fly wheel, but I have to buy the clutch plate A Exedy clutch (not sure which one) new. Have to buy completely My car is a R32 GTST, the mods I have now are intake, full 3 in turbo back exhaust with sports cat, EVC 5 with boost set at 13.9psi, return flow front mount intercooler. I plan on buying the parts I need and having the car tuned to about 350-400 hp. Which one of these clutches would be good? What a about Spec and some of the other brands? I will use it for the street, highway and once a month at the track.
  21. I am going to get the Nismo pressure plate. Was qurious if I needed it or not. Nissan couldnt give me an answer.
