  1. My mate just had one put on his RB25 S15, Had the car for a week before the car was pouring out blue smoke, a BRAND NEW turbo had already gone and it's been 2 weeks since that and they still haven't given him a replacement, don't touch them
  2. Got to work on the Headgasket the yesterday, this is what was achieved when finished, it was a mission do dissemble having to take off the plenum and intake runners before, it's a b*itch of a job like everyone described but it it wasn't THAT bad. Another one a bit closer Then I took the head down to the shop to be pressure tested, resurfaced and readied to put back on. While I was out I got a new thermostat housing and Nismo thermostat to put on. Next is to take the old gasket off and resurface it ready to pick up tomorrow morning I will finish off the intercooler stuff when the head is back on because the piping has got to stay off till it's all put back together. To show everyone how dodgy the last guy was here is his version of a bracket to hold the bottom of the intercooler that piece of metal can be flexed easily and i doubt it actually provided any support for the intercooler, it would have just stopped the intercooler moving too much. Anyways I have all the brackets made up for the new mounts, it's just a matter of finding where to drill the holes so i know how close and to what height the intercooler should sit. I will probably redo a new post with all the info so others can easily follow. The nismo thermostat and the new shiny housing. it's only a thermostat I know but it's the first Nismo part i've ever purchased so a little milestone for me.
  3. I'll add injectors to the list , plan is to hoard parts and do them all at once one weekend and get it towed to a tuning shop, which should make life a bit easier
  4. Thanks will remember that link for when I go to buy stuff for the 85 upgrade
  5. Heads currently in the shop getting checked and if it's all good they'll clean it up ready to put back on. Pinging is an obvious sound isn't it? I really need to get it retuned and wanted to do it soon after i buy a couple more things but it might become priority now! Got both of them should be fun when finished!
  6. The other day the Head gasket blew... Hopefully fixing it tomorrow While the car is off the road I thought i'd take advantage of it and clean it up a little more. These aluminum "things" used to hold the intercooler, this setup disgusts me haha, Such an ugly way to "improve" a car And I painted all the obvious bits black to make it a bit more stealthy while I'm on my P's And started making a new bracket to hold the intercooler onto the car, this time out of steel to be a bit stronger but the design im using also should let it flex that little bit for tolerance. Hoping to get most of it back together tomorrow so I can show the rest of the install for it
  7. So recently in May I bought myself a 1992 Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-T. I bought it with a few mods already on it: RB25 Turbo with 360 degree thrust bearing, Split Fire Coil Packs, 550 cc Deatschwerks Injectors, Stainless Braided Oil Water and Break Lines with Speed Flow fittings , Front mount Intercooler, HKS Turbo Timer with auto meter boost gauge, Cusco strut braces front and rear , AVS Model 6 wheels, KYB shocks with King Springs. Still yet to find out what it all means though. I still have no clue what I want to do to the car but for the moment I will be just cleaning it up and doing all the supporting mods to run E85 and hopefully by then ill know for sure what I want to do with it. So far I'm thinking on going trackspec/hillclimb spec as i prefer a car which handles over a powerful one. (last car was an mx5, and yes, I do regret getting rid of it) Anyways here is a couple of pictures of it Thanks guys
  8. I've bought the gaskets from Kudos, Thanks guys What about that man?
  9. I was only finding US sellers when searching for part numbers or people who wanted lots of time to ship it or even people who wanted to charge me $647 for a gasket kit... I broadened my search and finally found Kudos motorsport thank rajab i found them, best, most comprehensive site I could find.
  10. when I emptied the coolant into a bucket there was a layer of like rust dust on the bottom of the bucket. other than that Oil is clean, but oil has been eaten and it's not giving blue smoke. no bigger chunks of matter though like rat poo size. There seems to be water/coolant always in the exhaust on start up - it happens always, can't always be condensation. (if you put your hand at the exhaust tip water will come out for about 1-3 mins till i guess it reaches a temperature where it comes out as a very fine smoke (smoke is not that visible and blends in with normal exhaust fumes). Coolant did come out brown/Choclate milk... Flushed it a couple of times, put water through, put flush and water through and then filled with coolant. Never put my finger in the bottom hose but never saw any "rat poo" Can't think of anything to explain it further. I got an opinion off a mate who came and had a look at it and he has been working on engines espcially rb20's and rb30's for a while now, and he is pretty certain its the head gasket. just don't want to put all my trust and MONEY on one opinion. I guess it could be many things but i won't know till the head comes off. Plan so far is to replace the head and take it to a professional to have it flushed properly to get out all the shit coolant side and oil side. just to be safe. head should come off this weekend so I will know then the extent of the damage
  11. I believe I have a blown head gasket and am currently collecting all the parts needed to replace the gasket. I have been looking for "Gasket kits" but all seem to be online and need shipping. Is there anyone locally who does these kits?( complete gasket kit for RB20det) In Brisbane. Here is my shopping list - ARP head studs - gasket kit - oil* - oil filter - coolant - new radiator Anything else I should need? * I have oil in the radiator which is why I want to flush coolant and oil to make sure they aren't contaminated. Car will be flushed professionally after gaskets are replaced
  12. Yeah I know thanks for the help though man, it's good to get advice on testing out possibilities. I will stay 20, just because I prefer this engine over 25. Gasket seems like it should hold up for a few more weeks yet So i might go buy a reco 20det and just clean it up and dump it in when i can, I have to do the box aswell so might buy a 20det in a combo with box. All i can say is that choclate milk/rust and white foam doesn't show up in the rad unless the head is gone so all i can do is replace it and hope...
  13. So i have foam coming out of the radiator which means headgasket is gone. I have been told that getting a new RB20 is cheaper than doing the head purely because of the whole machining process. So I thought I might buy another RB20 with box (I need a new box as well) and clean it up and put it in when I have the time. So I will need a few things... RB20DET: Where do i source this from? Sure i can buy one of someone who has a "vgc" rb20 for sale but i'm working on a bit of a budget and would like to buy an engine which I feel confident in knowing that it will work. Gearbox: I have contacted Nissan A1 Wrecking on this before and they seem to give you a reconditioned, not serviced, box for $850 which I don't think is too bad. Is this the right place to source the box? With both of the main parts sorted now Will i need?: Clutch: Could i reuse my current one? or because it's going onto a new block will i need a new one, if yes, Where do i source a cheap Exedy sports tuff clutch? What else will I need for this? / What else should I do while i am replacing an engine? ('92 R32 GTS-T) and I am located Brisbane.
  14. Oil looked fine. I have been explained that on these engines oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure so finding oil in the rad while not having contaminated oil is more than likely to happen. Might as well chuck in a 25det...
  15. I've also just noticed it's actually eaten quite a bit of oil lately as well... but again never had an issue with heating which keeps me hoping its not a head gasket. Or, hopefully its just the head gasket and not f**ked piston rings too....
  16. Recently bought a '92 R32 GTS-T Last night it started leaking Coolant from the bottom radiator hose where it connects to the block, So i got a new pipe. went to fill the radiator with new coolant and I noticed the old coolant was filled with rust and also a white foam was also coming from the top of the radiator. I've had a quick look around the internet and the internet tells me I my Headgasket is gone. BUT I have never had an overheating issue, the car actually takes a while to warm up and sits at 70-80 degrees C all the time. What should I suspect needs fixing??
  17. So you reckon the mounting points are the same though? i'm doing the whole gtr bonnet and front bar in the near future so I guess ill wait till then thanks Nizmo_
  18. Will these work on a '92 R32 gts-t coupe? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nissan-Skyline-GT-R-GTR-R32-RB26DETT-Gas-Bonnet-Hood-Damper-Support-Strut-Shock-/261299923733?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd6b06b15&_uhb=1
  19. Thanks guys will look up the DIY's for all that tomorrow and buy some cleaner for the air flow. Also i have a Power FC would that change anything?
  20. When i start my car it doesn't seem to be able to "find" idle like it will jump between 800-1000 rpm and just go up and down, From memory it only happens when the car is cold or warming up. Also sometimes when i push in the clutch to slow down (i.e. slowing down to stop at lights) the car seems like it wants to die (it will fall to like 200rpm) but then goes back up to normal idle. I know this has probably been answered before but i haven't really found anything directly related to this. R32 gts-t 1992 Thanks guys.
  21. Ahh that's probably a good idea, It's a little hard getting used to this forum haha
  22. Comon guys there must be a go-to mechanic for nissans who and where?
