  1. Not sure really... TNT delivered 'em to LWR, now they are at PNMS getting a service. WIll collect 'em when I get home 24th or so. Hey, thinking of throwing the dirt bikes in my ute for the WRC. What is the word on spectator access. Is it going to be Anal Aussie, or Mad European style of control. TT
  2. Good Choice.... trick looking handling sounding car. Yes, if I was to build an early modern - that would be on my list to check competitiveness... Previous race targa history too.... How about palmers thing with the Judd F1 engine!!!! TT
  3. If you are series contact one or several of the people doing them... they will give you a price based on your requirements. There are quite a few mates rates jobs done on Race cars in Tassie, and a forum is not the place you will get an accurate costing. TT
  4. Not too many evo's in Targa Showroom Last year. And most of them slow. I have it on good authourity that the owner of one has a stroker engine (58's at Symmons we could never do) but its not a showroom spec car... the boys where we dyno the car were talking of stokers, but I wouldnt believe everything you hear. I know the blue and yellow car that was in front of you in 08 (had to check prologue times - but you knew I would lol) and it was an E8, not in showroom class... but very good chance the engine was not within service limits. Anyhow, Bloody hell they must be cheap... cost us $AUD1,780.22 in parts and 1500 in labour to freshen our engine (that was after 2500ks competitive in 16000 on the clock.). I got a shock, cos had put it off thinking it would be expensive. US4k for a 2.3HKS stroker kit, US6k or the 2.2(race) kit without machining... that is AUD10k without labour, they wont run on std injectors / fuel pump combo - why would you bother. Run em on the breadline and life the engine with Ralliart bits - much more ecconomical. I know how to stop any cheating... a claiming rule. ABS on the '74 RSReplicas?? Brakes are free still arent they? I bet those with "strokers" are spewing... maybe their money would be better spent with Tim Shaw or John Bowe. Maybe you have more to be concerned about Ben because of the diversification of brands and spec available in Classic (sorry early Modern). An importer of Nissans in the UK is not a manufacturer for instance. Anyhow, busy trying to put a deal together to run Showroom with Octagon in a new car and RT in our old girl. Hope you get your budget regardless of rules... BTW those couple of bottles of red you shipped with the shox must have got knocked off TT
  5. Cant edit so read with above... If you dont like Octagon run events, you can vote with your money - we have another fantastic race run under CAMS in Tassy that could do with numbers. We have already lost Rally Burnie through lack of support. So I will no doubt see some familiar names on the RT entry list when it is released to ensure it doesnt go the same way. Plus - with bugger all people the chances of winning are higher, and there is also TV coverage on Fox etc. TT984 RT58
  6. Cheats.... Quinny? dont reckon, Whitey, no, Jamie, No, Young Quinny, No BW, would have to say no.. Pye/Broadbent - No idea... but probabley not, Us (was hoping the rumoured funded protest was forthcoming - nothing like free maintenance), No, Tony W No, Brendo No, Batsey No... So who are all the cheaters??? I would suggest like always they are talentless people who run mid field. Then assume the quick guys are cheating. Not that long ago two LWR cars were dismantled post event RT - only to be found stock. The people who hope to run at the front dont cheat, beacuse they fear all their hard work turning to dust in the post race wash up. We even went to the expense of putting a new std engine loom in our car, because it had previously been cut and shut for logger sensors etc more than 100mm from ECU - thats how paranoid of being checked we were.... Anyhow, I have stated on here before - I belive everyone I race against is legit. Makes me wonder why people see it so differently. TT984
  7. Think the amount of coverage you received was excellent... but I would not bank on it. Even cat leaders/winners received a lot less. A cynical person may suggest the synergy between the coverage producers and one of your sponsors may have contributed… that and the fact you were flamboyant in your approach. We have just done a review and spoken to Rocket… while our car looks tough in the flesh, it looks pox on telly – its not just results that get you on the box. I actually got more coverage for Bunnings when we went off in South Riana ’05 than most. Sponsors can leverage the event – like Bunnings did – without you winning. Just buy a 996 for your girl… Remember they don’t depreciate like some stuff… and in the words of Dougie Briese, “You to can be a Porsche tosser” TT984
  8. Cant please all the people.. We were faced with re-speccing our car showroom when it went to 98, Our choice I know, but it cost 6k! Anyone who has a vehicle that isnt competitive from a rules perspective isnt going to win... if you are hell bent on winning, you build a winning car. However, if you are in a 944, you just look at Matt Closes times from a few years ago when he beat JR on Cygnet and say "These could be a top 15 car" Any car in the top 15 isnt going to be far away from the front of their class. And dont say - oh that is Matt, he is quick anyhow..... Anyone who thinks they are going to turn up and run in the top 15 in HCR32 is in for a shock!! - WAIT FOR IT........................because they dont all drive like Ben Wooster! TT984
  9. Ease up lads.... we still have an event to enter. In this day and age - be greatful. Its not a Nissan conspiracy... just a few blokes putting on an international event in little old Tassie. Anyone who doesnt do an event because the rules doesnt suit them is mad. You reckon Casey Stoner was stoked when Val en all got the tyres he had been developing for two years?? If it makes you angry and want to stay away... just think, it wasnt that long ago when the R32 had to run in outright on 16" wheels... with pissy little brakes. There was only cat winners acknowledged, and we were up against R33 GTR N1's Now about the only class not on the podium - Service Crews leaving Queenstown Winners" Just remember when the powers that be close Targa down.... we did it and had fun. Nobody will care what class you was in and who won. TT984
  10. JW does nice work, and has improved out of site since maybe his E7. Custom Cages MIG in the factory, even though their joints are precision cut on a cnc machine. Make sure you use correct wire if you have got the T45 option. We did our own... but for customer car would use one or three guys to weld - JW being one of them. TT984
  11. Anyone that has spoken to Quinny for more than 5 seconds would question his success. Nice guys after all are meant to finish last!!! I actually made a point of not spraying him with champagne in Hobart.... after watching his "ran off the black stuff and got on the green stuff comment all those years ago, puts him in my - bloody good blokes I have met - box. Good luck to him... he deserves the success. And the best thing is - it wont change him one bit. TT984
  12. Footage...They would have signed stat dec like us all to say the event owns the footage. Signs.. notes brain fade, I dunno motorsport incident. The guy had an off the previous year, so maybe there is a pattern, or maybe he is trying hard and making the odd error. "Trying hard enough to win - Trying hard enough to crash!" I biffed my partner into the bank at sheffield in 04. I think it was "Its all over honey - get the triangles... I can imagine someone who has done lots of circuit and had some prangs forgetting there was another in the car. One thing I cant quite hear - (noisey here) but I think Sam did say "get off it get off it" Now if she was talking about the brakes - marks to her. If she is washing clothes in public - points deducted. TT984
  13. One piece of footage you should watch over and over again, is the bit where BW gets to Wrest Point. I am not sure how many times he has been down... 3-4 as nav and couple as a driver. Some people consider just finishing the acheivement. After not finishing a couple (crashes and mechanicals) when on the pace - I know how difficult it is... The rookie winners have a perfect record in modern so far - neither have finished a main event. There were plenty talking it up this year and didnt get thru day 1. Finishing any event is a challenge, winning is special.... Well done and, Snowy, next year I hope you dont keep the rookies record in tact, and make it through the other 2/3s of the event... I bet you started thinking about that when you passed us all on your way to the boat Friday night... TT984
  14. Sorry for lack of picture Link to Pics We ordered and bought one of these in Dec 08. As far as the design goes and price it was what I expected. However on collection I noted the rear axle had pos camber on one side... the management offered to send me a new axle and because up to that point the experience had been ok - i had no reason to disbelieve. How ever after 4 months no axle was forth coming and I was instructed to repair myself (We had offered this in the beginning)... Now the invoice for the repair goes un-paid which makes the trailer rather expensive for what it is... Lesson - if theris anything wrong with custom built trailer - do not accept until corrected. Do not pay until work is complete to your satisfaction... If you decide on a Motorsport Hauler - be sure to do your own QC. I would buy another one, but wouldnt believe a word they said. TT984

  16. Silverdome... keep your eye on the paper. Next Sunday will see all sorts turning up. - One night next week you should be able to see the cars TT
  17. You need something to harness all that RB20 power Roy. I'll save you wearing out gear... My old Skyline is running Tein on the track down here and is quite competitive. You can get away with a lot on the track... buy the best you can afford. The differnce between 15k suspension and 5k suspension is 10k. You get what you pay for. For Targa, where you are looking for a set-up that is good at least 75% of the time (a lot harder than it sounds) the of the shelf Tein(even with additional EDFC 32clicks) will be found wanting. DMS Ohlins Proflex Intrax MC Stack Koni Exe-TC and there are others actually work. I am sure Tein make a 15k shock for their race teams too... Thanks for plug Ben, only too happy to help. TT984
  18. Just remove the bit of foam where the speaker sits... If you are going for ear plugs, you need to get a new mic from Altronics (Phil at Active) or TEC, then make a new jbox with fly lead and 3.5 mm socket. Fly lead goes to the terra socket and you plug the 3.5 that comes on the plug type into the J box. Lots to go wrong - ie forgetting and busting a joint. For mine a bit of 80 grit and care = comfort. tt984
  19. Woosher... I want to join those in blue type.... although I am having trouble reading it when I run the dark page. Check my sig for pics... Let me know.... Rocket Rosco. - email coming your way when I get back from the land of scams. I am about to go into race mode... my missus says I'm unbearable and I dont bother with time consuming computor stuff. Have a fast safe run ya'all. and we will see you in the round house. Benno - Thanks mate, it was you who made the difference!!! TT984 Again.
  20. See your sig has changed and appears fluid. You are definitely giving Deano Value for money... DOnt forget that art mob that is throwing bucket loads into your racing. And just so Rocket can see the history in the Camera Car Some Nostalgia - Click Here TT984 Once custodian of 832
  21. 732???? Someone needs to resurrect 832!! Looks good woosher... TT984
  22. Fuel is only a problem on Day 5 normally. Not sure on the GTr, but if you need xtra get your service crew to take it. You do have a service crew? We normally split the crew on day 5... one car on weekend only duty heads for the top of the mountain. do the 34's use worse than the 7/2km/ltr or do they have a small tank? TT
  23. Ahh the kink... Still have a bit of NS400R F2 seat material stuck in mt sphincter where I chased Scott Doohan for 5 laps on his 1000 yam round Lakeside years ago - Flat thru the kink in the wet. Now why have pill shrank sooo much LOL. Run off for cars!!! need the walls to bounce em back on the track. Will have a look BW when I get into an Emirates longe and have some bandwidth. See ya there TT
  24. Rent an Xtrail or any car really, Thursday, get up early drive to the top of Sideling - weather can be anything, pissing down, fog or sunshine. Or all of the above over a two hour period. Take a couple of chairs and a thermos. See the cars for about 700mtrs thru a range of corners and accelerating to top gear. Good spot and you will be able to pick the good from the bad easy. It is worth the trip to hear the two lambos at full flight. (Not heard R35, but tipping that will be special too). Tell your old man to sit down shut up and hang on, then bast cross country to get in on Rossarden in the afternoon, or slowly head back toward lonnny for the soft Longford stage with 5000 locals. Friday - Dunorlan - you are a fair way from the action, then there are a couple of places you can get onto Paloona. From there cross country to the start of Liena (most scenic easy access point with up close and distance views.) The other option is to pic a stage, drive in before the road closes, park on a forestry trail off the road so the road close team can tape off in front of your car (and away from line of site for the drivers) But by doing this you are there for the full road closure... there are quite a few points to be accessed this way. In 93 I dove onto Elephant pass walked about 2ks and managed to watch the cars on a flat out open stretch with multi corners. Get elevated, and have a safe enjoyable trip. You'll love it TT
  25. Set of DMS for sale. Used for 2 x Targa events. Every one here knows the quality of DMS. If they aren't snapped up, I'll run them on ebay soon. Visit My Website for pic link Start talking @2.5k TT
