  1. Not boost control, either steering rack or oil temp sender.
  2. Hey everyone, I'm thinking to start offering a cheap tuning alternative in the form of Nistune. It would be in Brisbane and could cater for the guys who are after an inexpensive tuning service. Anyone interested please email me at [email protected]
  3. I just had a look and I'm 99% sure that the 2 pin plug goes to the steering rack and the single wire goes to the single connector switch on the oil filter mount.
  4. Hey everyone, I'm seriously considering taking on another restoration but this time for a customer. It would be similar to what other companies offer for mustangs and other classics etc. I thought I'd make this post as an expression of interest to see if there is anyone keen out there. For details on what the final product could look like please check out my restoration thread in this section of the forum up the top it's a sticky. The options are of course endless to what can be done. I am very passionate about this kind of work and take great care in the level of detail applied. I have formed a number of good solid contacts during my build which will help me to undertake further projects. For those that don't know I am a qualified mechanic currently working at Godzilla Motorsport. Please don't hesitate to contact me with your interest either by PM, email, or call me on 0402829091. Regards, Deren
  5. Thanks Rick It's been awhile between my posts, sorry for that. Diff is back in the car with new custom breather can. Unfortunately no pics were taken it's working great though. Probably slightly overkill, but none the less it's doing the job intended. Diff feels great with the changed LSD plate order. Ended up spacing the pinion mount bushes to stop the thumping. Worked a treat. Apparently the tube inserts in the bushes compress. Personally I can't see it but it's done the job! Deren
  6. Hey, Im glad you can get your parts mostly locally. I painted all the underbody parts myself. Im pretty fussy with how it looks and what paint was used Over the last couple of weeks i've removed the rear diff, tail shaft, exhaust, etc. Im repacking the lsd to give a more aggressive lock. Breakaway torque will be very similar but the lock will be much harder. After much researching i found a cheap easy way to accomplish this. After checking over and 'micing' up the plates in the LSD ive found they are in excellent condition so they will remain. I was going to replace them with Nismo plates but its not necesary on this occassion. While the rear diff is out im setting up a custom diff breather/catch can with braided line and speed-flow fittings. I've noticed there is regularly drips of oil from the little breather cap on the rear diff cover. It makes quite a mess and since the oil level was right i decided it needed a bit of additional breathing ability. I'll take some pics once i have it completed before it goes back in the car. You will be hard pressed to spot it once it all fitted up. Another area im looking at is my tail shaft as the centre cv joint in the shaft is spraying grease out and making a mess under the tunnel. I've decided to dis assemble it and repack it with new grease then seal it up so it doesnt leak. More soon on progress with pics, Deren
  7. Shuddering heavy duty clutches is very normal but perhaps they got some oil on the flywheel or pressure plate and didn't clean it. Always a good idea to clean surfaces with shellite or similar. So nothing to do with clunking diff. I've decided it's excessive backlash in mine but can't work out why it's getting worse with no other symptoms like gear noise etc. Also can be a good idea to rough up flywheel and pressure plate to help it bite with emery tape..
  8. Hmm so its a coincidence that the lsd is worn out too? It makes sense what your saying as it sounds like too much backlash. As i mentioned it just seemed to be related to the lsd as i noticed it was worn out now too. Im just completing an lsd rebuild at work on a 32 gtr with the same symptoms. However the backlash wasnt excessive on this car.. When i pulled down the lsd centre the cover didnt have a great deal of preload on it. Since ive rebuilt it, the lsd case has alot more preload on it. Another thing to note was that there are only 6 individual plates per side. 2 spring plates, friction plate, 2 friction discs, another friction plate then the pressure ring. In the manual and FAST it shows there should be an extra shim per side. When i tried to fit these extra shims on the lsd at work it was over loaded and id guess it would have locked it too tight like a locker. I'll post up how it behaves once the one at work it all back together and in the car. Deren
  9. Hey guys, Anyone had their factory LSD in an R32 GTR start clunking on and off throttle? Mine started to after a few hard launches and has progressivly gotten worse. At first i wasnt sure what the noise was but after checking out everything the only thing i found was that when its raised up i can spin one rear wheel while holding the other. They arent locked together anymore as they should be. There seems to be alot of backlash and i think thats the noise im hearing but it seems to be linked to this open centering of the LSD. Might not be but it used to be locked tight together.. Ive heard of 'tabs' breaking from the LSD? I have tried changing oil and made sure it was an LSD oil im using. Anyone got any info for me? Cheers, Deren
  10. The drive sounds good! It hasn't been retuned anymore yet. I've done just over 2000kms, so time to drop out the mineral and switch to a synthetic. I'm not overly fussed for more power. It had no rust but there was some panels replaced during the bodywork at Darwens in Brisbane. It wasn't a bare metal paint job but it is an awesome finish and being silver it would be obvious if there were any imperfections. I used Cleveland Nissan for all my genuine parts and would deffinetly recommend them. The rails under the car were perfect however recently I managed to dent one myself which i was extremely mad at myself for. When I can afford it, the car will go back to Darwens for a few jobs and I'll have them repair it then.
