  1. Hi All, put some new wheels on the wagon and since I've changed size, width and offset , it feels like it needs an alignment. Plus I've done 15xxx km in the last 5 months so getting the shoes pointing the right way is a good idea anyway. Being relatively new to the west and since I do most of my own work I'm not sure of a good shop. Who can you guys recommend here in Perth that knows Stageas and is preferably open on a Saturday SOR/NOR no problems as long as they do a decent job. Many thanks to all.
  2. Damn just yesterday I bought a Z411 for the girlfriends lancer and z445 for the stag.Z411 is 7 bucks cheaper.
  3. thanks! damn hard work on the hands sanding.. but so satisfying when done. Took a while as I only have cordless drills so very low speed/ torque. For about 30 bucks in materials though a new lease of life
  4. Servicing the other half car yesterday , I got a good look at my wheels, different vantage point. The clear coat has seen better days on the spokes. So with a few hrs of daylight left I got into them with sand paper and metal polish. Getting there Not a perfect job but a damn sight better Got two done before it was too dark , this morning the other two. Not a fan of blingy blingy but its better than peeling clear, and will tide me over till I find something that will fill out the guards better.
  5. So on the way back from SA 100km out of Perth got a Engine Light, I think at that point we drove about 5hrs without having it in park. First set of lights encountered, in park and about 3 seconds of brake pedal sorted it out. What I noticed though was when the engine light came on and even when "cleared" the trans shifted weird at low speeds. Wasn't until the car was shut off and back that the shifting sorted it self out , could be coincidence though as Ive just hit 152k km and should flush the trans.
  6. Sounded at times like there was a chewie yelling and shaking things under the bonnet. But yes very happy it was a quick fix :-)
  7. Got the farting bov 2 days ago (Still in SA , bout to head back to WA on Saturday) , the noise and vibration this thing made I thought I had broken something bigger. After stripping out everything intake related bar turbo and not finding anything bad I read up on the threads here , and yep 3000-4000 rpm feathering throttle there is a urrhghhhh noise and vibration. Luckily my brother had several R32/33/34 parts in them had two r33 bovs. Cleaned up one and fitted, vac line is a little skew wiff but otherwise bolted up (same part number printed on the body) no more shudder and farting/vibration, did everything I could to replicate. Pheew !
  8. It was. Yep stocko everything bar the wheels. It took just over an hour only cause it was devoid of traffic so I could hug the centre more. I'll admit that stretch does play with your head though.
  9. Thank you Kiwi. The stag was the star of the show. Didn't miss a beat the whole way gave me a lot of confidence overtaking etc. I just piloted ;-). Really really wanted to see how fast I could do the 90mile straight but the other half talked me out of it .... For the better too I'd say. We had it laden with our luggage presents and the fuel plus 2 days water and food , plus snacks and soft drinks. Handled like a dream , even though it's a slightly boaty dream.
  10. For anyone interested. The stagea traversed the nullarbor with only one issue. The rh front CV boot I replaced with a repco universal popped by Norseman, saw it was only a small tear and decided to continue on. Before taking off I serviced it of course. Installed a 126w led lightbar which was a godsend between ciaguna and border village. I also installed a CB radio just in case. God the truckies hilarious. Went with a 20l Jerry strapped in in the corner. That was totally a good decision as there is only 91 between Norseman and border village. Border village and nullarbor only had 95 which got chewed at a fast rate $1.85/l not bad considering its location . Ceduna had 98 at on the run which comfortably got us to the in-laws an port pirrie. Fitted new boot today from sinergy $25 dirty cheap still. All in all extremely happy with the economy at mostly above the speed limit (there is bloody noone on the roads ) 680-690km a tank. Cost us $460 in fuel to Adelaide. Other than the CV boot spraying grease on a very clean undercarriage no issues. Thank you all for suggestions and ideas it made the trip so much easier.
  11. So synergy makes some shitty commercial decisions and the home user gets punished. Asshats #wapol

  12. They look awesome --- then the price $208 for the 11L ouch!. Gives me a an awesome starting point hough so thank you. Had a look at that , but the number plate attaches to the plastic only , seems very weak. Ill strip the bar off and see if I can make up a bracket from alu that will bolt onto the reo and protrude from behind / around the number plate. Removable ugly is better than permanent ugly. With the fuel economy, I got 720km out of a tank during a country run and didn't wanna tempt fate any more. This was on with shitty plugs and a knock sensor that wasnt connected. Both of these have been sorted now. Since then im easily getting 600km out of a tank metro commuting. I know there is 98 in Coolgardie Norseman and Eucla. So with a 20L jerry and couple bottles of octane booster incase there is only 95 I should be ok. Eucla - Ceduna - Port Augusta not worried as its 500km or less between each. Thanks for all your replies guys !
  13. Nope bastards cut the lot out , ballasts and all . I guess I could go and get a kit and fit it , but I dont want to attract the attention of the plod. Is all. Yeah my 5L lawnmower upright container (same type) fits very nicely in the side pocket. I just thought if there was something that would sit nice and flat thats all.
  14. Hi All , hope someone can give me some ideas. The headlights (even after aligning) are woeful for anything but metro driving. The other half and I will be trekking across the Nullarbor this month for a visit to Adelaide and Melbourne. Even though we do not plan on driving during the night Id rather be prepared. I cannot picture which spotties shape size would fit best without ruining the look of the car. Has anyone installed any on theirs? I'm toying with the idea of a lightbar behind the grille, but (ill be honest) Ive no idea how effective that would be. Would really like something that is permanent but not horrendously obvious. With the jerrycan , Id like to be able to have 10-20L of fuel on-board as reserve. Has anyone seen or has a container that would lie flat nicely in the pocket above the spare wheel under the floor hatch. Doing the trans/transfer case diffs and engine oil changes this weekend and since it will be up on stands/ramps gives me more space to pull the front bar off for wiring cutting etc etc. Any ideas or recommendations greatly appreciated.
  15. RT @newscomauHQ: Tesla recalls every single one of their cars https://t.co/AW3xDhw0lh

  16. wow, surely that was not all part of the install for the hu ? looks great ! think you accidentally a 0 there
  17. they are kinda crappy , but they do the job well.
  18. So spent most of the day (38C here today) over the engine bay listening to tunes and drinking beer. Stripped the intake off, rigged up a hose to my wet and dry vac and vacuumed up sand/ grit, dirt 2 snail shells ??????? (where the hell do they come from) from around the intake before taking it apart. Cleaned the intake sections with carb cleaner . Got the harness out and assesed. Looked like shit!. stripped it back de-pinned the connector. Soldered in new leads. Coax wire was perfect fit. Soldered the pins and reassembled the connector. Knock sensor tested at 562K Ohm (well within the range). With the harness it tested at 559K Ohm still in range. Did the spark plugs at the same time, who ever did the car last should be slapped !!! had Champion Platinums in there with a 14 (NGK4) heat range .... way too hot , guess they whacked in 350 plugs, electrodes were worn to heck too probably 1.4-1.5mm gap. Got some LFR6AIX. Put it all together and the moment of truth, fired up first go. Went for a test run , Significant improvement on take off, tried stalling it up and lit up the rears ! never happened before. I think I just thought these cars were good at WOT and sluggish otherwise......... proven wrong now. Very very happy with the improvement. Thank you all for your help , Esp Scotty for telling me the whole intake needs to come out. Total cost $123.70 including the plugs (had to buy the coax and I ran out of heatshrink)
  19. So I got blasted by a horn and got abused ..... For stopping at a stop sign. Seriously Perth drivers are just awful.

  20. Val, the climate control is a separate harness 6 or 8 pin if memory serves. However its one PCB for both HU and climate control. You are best off getting the kit Metra kit (I got mine from Amazon took 5 days to get here) http://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-7604-Installation-2003-2004-Infiniti/dp/B000VYK90Q$288AUD delivered or the separate board/buttons that datmoo posted above
  21. Is the wiring shielded? If not I can repair the plug thats not an issue. If it is shielded then yes I would need the part. Is there a part # ? Same as the VQ35s? by any chance. Is this the guy I'm looking for https://www.z1motorsports.com/oxygen-and-knock-sensors/z1-motorsports/350z-g35-vq35de-knock-sensor-sub-harness-p-5833.html?osCsid=keol7gu21kictn9cop24pqrhb4 If I cant find anything by end of tomorrow, I'm happy to pay what it cost + express bag postage Scotty. OK just did a quick google (currently at work so cant dedicate too much time) looks like 50ohm RG58U coax on the positive side. 99% confident I can repair it. So will give it a crack to repair the wire. If the car ends up off the road for a few days so be it - ive got a spare. I was actually joking when I said looks like mice got to it o.O , now I find that this is actually true and common. WTH! May as well dot the plugs since I'm gonna spend next Saturday over an engine bay. Anything else I should to preventative wise. Not fussed on $ , I'm driving the car to Adelaide next month and need to make sure its healthy. Thanks a bunch on the help All .
  22. So I just did the belts on the stagea and low and behold whilst flashing the light about I see some bare wires. I'm assuming it's the knock sensor , it's a two wire plug between the v under the intake. Can be seen from the front in the opening between the heads. One wire is bare other looks to be cut. (Looks like mice got to it :-/) Car does not ping. So my question is. Does the intake have to go in order to get to it and fix the wiring ? If so should I just do the rocker cover gaskets(passenger side weeps only just) and plugs 143xxxkm. Or am I going beyond what's needed to get to the knock sensor. Car goes beautifully just last weekend did 1000km round trip and got 720km out of a tank (ultimate ) with no hesitation what so ever even snapped the speedo on a overtake. Thanks for any and all advice.
