  1. Bigger gap after the coils go in? Why is this? Don't need to compensate for the shorter gap with the Splifires?
  2. Yeah bud, bought it privately awhile back "unmolested", only mods it had were a BOV and rear strut. Probably needs a tune at some point
  3. Digging up an old thread here, getting desperate. Mine are pretty bad, followed a lot of advice via SAU and my mechanic who reccomended to buy a headlight restoration kit, but much of the discolouration is on the interior, not exterior. I've just tee'd up a cut and polish for mine (black, looking very dull at the moment) and was wondering who might be able to do this work for me as I'm not that comfortable whacking parts of my car in the oven
  4. I'm in the same boat, I'm about to purchase a set of Splifires (SF-DIS-008 if I'm right) for my 2000 R34 GT-T which has been giving me a bit of grief the same as you. My diagnostics tool just displayed a "IGNITION SOURCE PRIMARY" no codes etc so figured it was either the spark plugs or coils. Replaced my old plugs with the BCPxxxES and gapped to .8 which didn't eleviate the problem and I've been saving for Splitfires so I'm pretty excited to say the least. Will let you know how I go (:
  5. Know if the R33 is compatible? Few up on eBay for a solid price
  6. What's one of those worth roughly? Just a rough idea, this will be my next upgrade after the Splitfires
  7. Just food for thought for now mate, once I tick off the vital things I wanna do, I'll start making little modifications such as this and work my way up but the way it runs is definetely priority now.
  8. Pretty much, I'm new to Skylines and this forum in general but I've fancied Skylines since I was a kid and want to learn as much as I can, I look to this forum for that and am often chastised or given little to no help/advice or just smart remarks. If you have the knowledge, just share it, don't be a tool. Christ. Thank you for that, all I could ask for. Not too keen on rolling into an exhaust shop not knowing what I'm talking about, so figured I'd get a rough idea here first.
  9. Hey guys, Not sure if I'm posting in the right topic but I need a little advice and guidance with wanting to replace my stock dual exhaust with a "cannon". All I want to achieve is the cosmetic change with a different sounding note, sound a little bit meaner or not so stock. Every time I ask mechanically minded friends they either just say get a wog cannon or get a super overpriced new exhaust system, extractors, catback but all I'm after for now is what I mentioned above as I'm focussing more on the engine side of things as opposed to expensive cosmetic stuff. I was looking at this http://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/151744917951 How do I go about finding out if one of these is compatible with my 2000 R34 GT-T and then fitting it? Any help or advice would be great
  10. Now that you think about it.... haha Yeah, I bought the NGK 1.1's that everyone had recommended and gapped them down to 8's.. think gapping them down to 6 is really going to help?
  11. Couldn't agree more, I'm pretty novice when it comes to these cars, haven't had mine long (took me about 3 hours to change my plugs, fun but time consuming and trial and error), so I wasn't sure if I should find a cheap set to tie me over or if running with coils on the way out is bad for the engine or not. I don't really hoon around so I think I should be okay.
  12. As I suspected too, real shame. I know every man and his dog suggest Splitfires for these but I don't have that much on me outright otherwise I'd love too. Was looking at these el cheapo ones that come with a one year warranty until I can save some dough for the Splitfires and not have my R34 running on 5 cylinders http://www.ebay.com.au/ulk/itm/221665070389 Anyone know much about these? "Japtek". I know you get what you pay for but its just something to tie my over
  13. Yeah that's what I mean mate, 0.80mm, I bought a metric gauge. Bleh, was positive it was the plugs
  14. So finally got around to doing my plugs, finished around an hour ago and first start up was fine, on the second, BAM, engine light came straight on and felt like I was running roughly, like running on 5 cylinders. Did this for the first time BEFORE I replaced the plugs. Put everything together in order and gapped all my plugs to .08mm as per all the advice I'd been given. What do you guys reckon, gotta be the coils?
  15. I think I'm on the right path anyway guys, thanks. Hadouken helps me out pretty much every time haha And my experience with people who are good or know a lot, be it guitars/music, cars or anything are often wankers. I'm here to sponge up knowledge from the veterans on these forums, not experienced wankers. Also, I feel like an idiot asking about leads now.... no spark plug leads >_>
  16. What would you recommend I clean them with/how? I bought some expensive contact cleaner for the AFM, would that be okay to use? It doesn't leave residue
  17. Any chance you can link me to these? Can't find the ES-8'snon Super Cheap or Autobahn, hoping you have a specific supplier. Have read into gapping plugs, should be right if I get a gap tool.
  18. Thanks bud, that link is exactly what I needed. As for boost, I can't really say but I'd like to find out if you could help. It's a stock standard 2000 R34 25GT-T with no modifications other than strut bars.
  19. Hi guys, Pretty new to this forum, mechanics and skylines having just bought one and I've started to replace most of the easy stuff myself. I'm getting minor misfires and was looking to replace the spark plugs and leads before I look into coil packs. Have searched the Internet tireless and have an understanding to buy pre"gapped" .8mm spark plugs, iridium if it can be helped. Would someone be able to recommend or link me some decent spark plugs and leads? So far I've looked at the NGK BCPR6ES but they are not iridium and are super cheap? No idea about what leads. Cheers guys
  20. Sorry can you be a little more specific on what those are exactly. The car is basically stock, only aftermarket parts are some strut bars
  21. Hi guys, I've recently become the owner of my first Skyline (model in title) and have been perusing this forum before and after my purchase, which has been an absolute help to me and was wondering if anyone could help shed some light on a problem I've been having. Problem 1: When I put my foot hard down, going into the high RPMs, it feels like the engine struggles a bit, gives a little then goes back up then gives a little then continues on, almost like lagging a bit - anyone familiar with this problem? Problem 2: I have had an engine light issue "half diagnosed" where the engine light, TCS OFF and SLIP light comes on. Was plugged into a scan tool and all I got back was "Ignition Source Primary" which the mechanic and I both thought that the coils were on the way out. Any help with this one would be good. Seems to disappear when I turn the car back on after some time. First problem I thought may have been a faulty CAS or slightly out of position or dodgy fuel injectors. The second problem I think the coils, but I'm very beginner when it comes to the mechanics. Thanks a bunch guys
