  1. Hi All

We're planning on heading down for a cruise to King Lake in April. This is a GT-R only event.

If you're interested in coming down for the day please feel free to join the group in the facebook link below. All details are in the event.

    Cheers

Someone explain to me how that scam is supposed to work? You conveniently get a phone photo of a car that hit you with no damage to it?

I'm only making an assumption here. Husband (Skyline) and Wife (4WD) are talking on the phone. Wife tells Husband someone just rear ended me. She pulls over. Dash cam continues to drive off because person in 4WD is a f**king idiot.

Husband thinks dash cam is trying to do a runner so he blocks them and tried to take a photo.

I dunno, to me it did look dodgy. But it's possible he was just trying to record their rego.

Latest word is that the Portfolio Manager's directive is this...
    * Nissans and Datsuns prior to 1989 can be covered
    * ADM GT-Rs (with proof supplied) can be covered
    * JDM GT-Rs from 1989 onwards will not be covered - with no mention of renewals being continued or culled.

Sorry guys, but a few bad apples have spoilt the good ones.

Is this happening at a certain date or just when our current policies run out?

What's the latest in the best insurer for 34Rs?

My policy is up for renewal with Shannons, they want to drop the value on the policy to 72k, I think I would really struggle to replace it for that.

Premium is $1363 currently, but will go up if I get my way and we revalue the car a bit higher.

Last I heard from @GTR-N1 on facebook is that NRMA aren't taking any new policies currently as they're reviewing their policies. Is your car a V-Spec or Non V-Spec?

Comprehensive insurance is compreshensive - even if you caused the accident / were at fault they will pay you out. This includes losing control of the vehicle, which unless they can prove an illegal or unroadworthy modification was responsible for, you should be fine with.

The secret with insurance is to check your product disclosure statement - every legal condition is written in there and that's the wording they will base a case on should a claim ever be challenged or should you ever have to take your insurance company to court over not paying you out. Make sure your vehicle/behaviour complies with the PDS and you're good.

I'm pretty sure most policies state that your covered provided your car has "legal" modifications. Even things like an aftermarket ECU is not legal. if they want to get out of paying you, they can. You can't trust any of them really.

    Has that ever happened?

A friend of mine recently had an accident with his GTR. He is with RACV and it's currently under investigation. They're going through everything with a fine tooth comb. I'm of the opinion they're looking for a chance to get out of paying. Insurance value is 100k.

They're questioning the mods. I'm interested to see what happens. Investigator mentioned that anyone with this policy is subject to their investigation which included a 5 hour questioning of the incident.

Guys so last time i tried to insure through Shannons I go thte shock of my life at their offer.  My details and cars details:

    34years old clean record

93 R32 GTR with everything, car cost me 33k and I have now spent over 100k on mods.   (hard to say that but it's true.)

Long story short its a 3.2l Nitto with Hollinger, M1 motec set to make upwards of 1250whp. Setup for Drag and eVents, If i went to sell the car at the moment it would probably have 100k tag on it.

Car is registered and clean, only goes to events, and driven once a month only down my residential street to keep everything running.

Whats the best plan of attack getting this thing insured and with who?

    Thanks for any help

Is everything engineered? Hard to see insurance covering you should something ever happen if it's not engineered.
