  1. I really like the colour. Not sooo keen on the matching interior but.

Hey you do what you want though. Would love to see what you do to this thing.

Also for 8k well played, the temptation to part it out must be playing on your mind.

clarify in your original post. The catch can return hose is being re-routed to the rear turbo INTAKE pipe.

Ahhh... yep. ^This. In my excitement I have gotten this description wrong. I plan to get some more details of the car written in here, just so you all know what hides in the car. And of course, i'll be updating this to reflect any work that is completed on the car to keep it in good condition.

I saw this beauty when I was picking my car up from RacePace. Very nice indeed.

Thanks! I use every excuse under the sun to visit Racepace instead of calling them on the phone.

So many wonderful cars in such a small place. Gareth always talks me through the work they're doing on each one. I'm like a kid in a giant toy factory...

  4. I had taken the car to a trackday at Sandown in January.

It turned out to be a 38 degree day, my car managed to turn a full 3 consecutive laps before it began to complain. The car was not revving cleanly in morning and by afternoon was in full misfire mode (even being babied down the straights). I pulled the pin around 2pm and went home.

I had not gotten anywhere near the limit of the tires nor the engine the whole day, which was slightly disappointing.

Racepace have diagnosed that the igniter was not coping with the heat and replaced it for me. Now I have the car back i'll be hoping to go to another day at Sandown to have a real go. So when i was driving it on the road (when is was cool) the car would be fine, but on the track in that heat it just wasn't coping.

I took a friend for a drive the other night, the thing pulls like a monster. I will add that I am convinced the diff gearing is too short. You barely have a chance to think before you need to pull the next gear (yes even 3rd to 4th) Once your in fourth and fifth you have some time, but still not as much as you might think. It also meant gear changes where longer gears would have held down short straights.

Still diff gearing can wait for a while i think.

  5. Steve's R33 LM Limited Upkeep

    Hi all,

I've been stalking these pages for a quite a long time now. Thought i should throw my car up for everyone to look at.

Some of you will be familiar with this car already as I purchased it from Gav in Perth. Gav had this car built by Glavsport and it has been a no expense spared build.

With that in mind I too have decided to buy things once and any changes that go onto the car will be the highest quality I can reasonably manage. You may be aware that my start with this car was somewhat turbulent as someone tried to steal it from me on the first day I drove it. (See link: Steve's Intro ).

Since then I have hidden the car away under lock and key (and other security measures). The car has just returned to me now from Racepace in Bayswater.

We (well, not really we, more the guys at Racepace) made some changes to my car, repaired the damage from the break in and installed a new immobiliser and tracker. It's nice to have the car back in one piece and using a key to start it, rather than any flat item jammed into what was left of the ignition.

One of the biggest issues I was having was fumes coming into the cabin from under the bonnet/car. It turned out to be a twofold issue.

    1. The exhaust was pinched and suffering from E85 damage (it was a 3" mild steel exhaust)

    2. The oil catch can breather may have been letting fumes into the air vents for inside the car.

The guys at Racepace have fabricated and installed a brand new 3.5" exhaust with V-Bands and tuned length headers to solve the exhaust problems and they also rerouted the catch can fumes into the rear turbo so they are expelled through the exhaust.

With the new exhaust it was necessary to re-tune the car on the dyno so this was also completed. As someone who doesn't get to drive fast cars much, millions of kWs were deemed unnecessary. I asked the guys specifically if they could turn the engine down to a level it will be happy to perform at for a long, long time.

In tuning the car the guys turned the engine up to what they deemed a reasonable level, then turned it back down as I requested.

The net result of the tuning was:

Full power: 505.4kW (atw) at 27psi

Final Tune: 410kW (atw) at 22psi

I've also got some pictures of the exhaust going in and a dyno run video coming soon.

  6. Spotted Gunmetal Grey R32 GTR  (GZLR32) on Wellington Road this morning.

Looked mint. Was hoping you would plant it, then those cops appeared at the top of the hill.

    Next time...

    Was it genuine k's?

Mine is, it just needed some TLC, however, rather than do things twice (and paying twice) i've stumped up for better components than previous. The big costs for me was/is, the brand new stainless exhaust system. The E85 had eaten through the old one. The other costs have been the upgrade to security following the day one break in, possibly I've gone overboard on security.

Once these are done, costs should be back down to normal and i expect costs to drop back into the hundreds.

lower chance of spending up big on wear and tear items

I'm not too sure this is accurate. Maybe it's just my experience, but mine has been somewhat expensive considering how little i've driven it (I've an R33).

Otherwise, you should go with whichever you prefer i think, they are both going up in value, and you can expect to get your money back on either car at this point. Just get the car that will make you happy to see it on your driveway. I love R32s but I could never pass up an R33 for a 32 (think i'm the odd one out here).

  9. Hey man,

Good to hear you are looking into GTRs. So I have a question for you. What is the Mustang actually like?

I have an un-based theory (i haven't driven one) that these would be good in traffic and good in a straight line, but not much else. Am I just jealous?

  10. Hello, I too got my car from WA and had it shipped to Victoria. My costs were $1800 door to door. My car went on the flat, enclosed race transporter rather than the open ramped style transporters.

I used Ceva, as Glavsport in WA had experience with them and had no problems with them. It did go very well, however, just be cautious if you go with Ceva as a high number of other people had not had such great experiences. If I were going to ship another car, I would take careful notice of the condition of the panels and most importantly take a photo of the dash cluster before it leaves and compare it once you receive the car. If you do this, you'll be ok.

    Best of luck. Steve.

(Edit: I should add that it ends up on a train at some point and I don't know too much about that, it might be enclosed, or possibly not, best to ask).

  11. Hi all,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. So my thoughts on this were to ship the car up a week early, but, as always things change, I'll be roadtripping with some friends to bring the car up on a trailer. So that will be pretty fun. Thanks for your kind offers regarding storage. Can't wait to get up there and meet everyone in person.

  12. First things first, jack the car up and take a look at your brakes and suspension.. Inspecting this carefully will show you is any damage has occurred. If you aren't sure what you're looking at, grab some images from google (or here somewhere). If all else fails take both front wheels off and compare the front sides of the car.

If you have done something it could be something very silly (like the guard liner dislodging) just take a look and you'll be able to spot any problems.

  13. Hi guys,

Sorry to clutter up this post. I'm gong to be bringing my car along. However, now I need to get my car there.

I'm most likely going to tow it myself (due to costs) and am therefore looking for a trailer or company who can assist:

The only other thing I can think of is having it delivered to someone's house in Sydney who has secure parking prior to the festival. If anyone is up for that please let me know.

  14. Wanted to rent/borrow - Car Trailer

    Hi all,

I am attempting to organise myself to head from Melbourne to Sydney for GTR Festival in June.

I am looking to move my car by trailer (before you ask, my GTR is awful on the road and it's 875km each way), I'm looking for a trailer that I can use that is in Melbourne. Does anyone have a suitable trailer for a car approx 110mm off the ground?

The trailer itself needs to be registered (if applicable) and in good working order. Due to the wieght of the car I think it will also need to be braked. I'd be happy to hear about someone you know who might be interested, but ideally, i'm looking for a business that offers these services.

I've checked with my insurer (Shannons) and the car would be covered in the event of an accident if it was being towed on a trailer.

  15. Hi all,

Is anyone here transporting a car from Melbourne (or Vic) who I might be able to share transport costs with?

I would like to see my car there, i'm just trying to save on transport fees. It only makes sense (at least in my head).

    Thanks, Steve.
