*typo* If I was a pro definitely set something up for anyone I mostly use Office systems at work. Something my shop has to utilize it server based. I suck at most of the complex stuff, but I'm lucky to work with some nerds when I do need help. After a while most of it sticks and I'm able to fly thru spreadsheets. Once the system is built the learning to use it is easy. all it takes is someone to handle that portion. These shops can seriously hire someone off of Upwork or Fiverr to do some remote admin stuff. For a while my ole lady hired someone from the Philippines to handle some orders for her small business. At the end pf the day IDT its something they just dont care to improve in. The amount of orders that get f*cked isnt worth it to them to streamline the admin processes.

Yeah, I know there's a learning curve. They have to accept the change if they deem it a problem to fix upon. I'm 17/20 yrs in the military and there comes a point to where computer work become a norm. As much as I'd rather be working with my hand to fix jets there came a time when I sat at a PC to do admin stuff. Efficient admin stuff is necessary I'm not the best at excel at all but I can get by. If I have issue YouTube has the answer. I can still barely type lol. If you was a pro I'd definitely set something up for anyone

I found out about MCA last night. I didnt realized how long theyve been around. After looking I think Im leaning towards Shockworks. Just recently found more info about the company. I like the owners model of building to specific setups as a norm. plus theyre a smaller business which I tend to support when I can. I find myself buying more/more parts from Australian companies. Japan just aint doing it these days. You Aussies have been diligent with motorsports advancements. Thanks for the comments

I'm looking to replace some old Tein and Apexi coilovers that were on my GTR. I was planning on getting either Nitron R3 or Ohlins R/T. Mostly Street use w/ some club sprints. With all the new brand out these days what are some of the highly regarded ones? Would you choose a newer brand over the JDM/legacy brands?

Right. I dont understand. Seems they don't inventory parts coming in the door. IDK man. Smart boards and excel can solve so many issues with their organization. As much as they charge, they should be able to get that stuff up and running. H____E needs to do something as I've ran across many stories of ppl having their orders mishandled. It may be an "if it aint broke dont fix it" thing with how they get shit done. A messed up order here/there means nothing.

Messaging one of the fab guys worked! About 1pm NSW time I got an email from the owner. They were waiting on a SPAL brushless fan that I wanted on the radiator. It had come in at some point but no one realized it. 6 months work of waiting, IDK??? either way, he was apologetic and assured my order would be fast tracked. Im happy my pestering had something come of it. Hopefully I get tracking withing the next week weeks.

I contacted one of the fabricators on IG. We'll see if something comes of that. As of now, still no replies from the company themselves. It's wild that H___E has no storefront and 3 of the ways listed to contact them doesn't seem to matter. I guess so far I have yet to hear/see of anyone straight up getting stiff and not receiving part(s) they ordered 🥲 If I ordered thru PRP I might have received it by now

Ahh gotcha. Are you able to remove the pins?? nickle plating is cheap and will last longer with more lubricity. something to look into SO I at least got answers about my block. I'm Happy about that. IDK whats gonna happen w/ H___E. I talked to a guy who posted on one of their IG post about how he been waiting 6 months with no comms. He never got comms from the company directly. He contacted one of the fabricators there about his order and eventually he got a tracking number. FB, IG and 3x emails and nothing. My last hope with them will be contact one of the workers. I'll never buy anything else from them at this point.

Sounds like the mechanical minds are few and far between. young ppl are too busy trying to be Tik Tok famous i guess. this problem of finding good ppl is universal. I'm in the US Air Force and maintain B-2 bombers. We get young guys who basically got tricked into being maintenance by their recruiter. No ounce of mechanic in alot of them. Oh yeah we went to the air base outside of Brisbane not too long ago!

I have a correction on this. a bit twisted up from playing musical chairs with these ppl. I didnt get a reply from H___E on IG, only D___E. H___E has not read the message that was send Weds @ 934pm (count those hrs up). I sent H____E another email with a New subject with my invoice number, Thursday night my time, which was afternoon their time.

Admin is the last thing knuckle-draggers will truly want to handle. I have to do some sort of documentation, computer work on top of corralling a bunch of workers all night. its a PITA. the "just leave me along so i can work" thing is very real For the hobby/custom mod world, its fun and these guys love doing what they do. kids in a sandbox having a ball really. however, admin portion is something that shouldnt be lost even in the automotive industry that we hobby around. It almost seems like big shops may feel as if they're the only game in town, so why would they really care to be administratively competent (refer to the famous Field of Dreams quote) I think small shops are more susceptible to what you described mainly cause of the manpower to workload ratio. Customers running thru a shop and sending inquiries of builds they dont have money for. it will get old to a shop for sure. the balance of business/friends has to be maintained. I'm hella patient and even now im not pissed at the shops. I just more hate the information limbo. I make a point to not be a pest so when i do reach out (though i shouldnt have to) I expect timely comms. shouldnt take a multiple emails/msgs on various platforms to get answers. idk hiring someone even part time would make a difference

So D_____E replied to me on IG. Said they replied to me via email but I think they thought I was someone else. I did not receive an email ( they are a safe sender so I should have received it). The Nitto stroker rods were backordered and were receive late Feb. Found a good block for 1000hp and everything is currently in queue at the the machine shop. So now i'm expecting 2-3 months from now.... hopefully. H______E replied to IG msg. Stated they did not receive any emails from me ( sent an email to their main sales email and directly to the manager who I initially put my order through). They asked for the invoice number and Im currently awaiting a reply for status.

Agreed. These guys really run on "island time" I suppose. I work on military aircrafts and having the proper info to up-channeled in a timely manner is part of my everyday. I cant imagine leaving customers in the dark about something they paid thousands for. Someone organized who can work Excel and emails is much needed at these shops it seems.

Damn! those steps are fancy. I believe there's a dealer close to me actually. I'll give them a call. Did you order from AMP Research directly?? So I'm fairly patient, but considering I've wired out thousands just to have no comms after that really ticks me off. I'm not on hold for the parts as I'm spraying my car, but I do expect a reply. I've only emailed both parties the end of last month and this week, so I dont think I'm being a pest. Shit, one of the places I even asked to add a Tee and hoodie to my order lol.

* PLEASE MOVE IF THIS ISN'T THE CORRECT SUB-FORUM* Is it common to get ghosted by build/fab shops?? Anyone have the same experience?? I ordered a RB30 short block from one place and a radiator/shroud/fan setup from another shop (Well-known shops is Australia). I ordered both last September. I initially didn't get a lead time estimate when I ordered. However, I knew that the completion would take a while, given the traffic of these shops. I decided to follow up with both shop and get an ETA on completion. Neither shop has responded to emails (I rather have emails for a documentation). I'm fairly patient, but lack of comms is worries me a bit. Something I don't quite understand but may be a normal occurrence with shops.
