What kind of paperwork. And do they organize sending the car to the compliance workshops address. Also, what would be an expected charge for a customs broker? Although I probably dont wanna do it all myself, I certainly will have time on both ends...

OK, So ive been in Japan for years with my R33 and its time to relocate back to Aus. Im going to bring the car back as a Personal Import but I can find little info on the net about doing this. Therefore I was hoping there were people out there with recent experience (as rules/info changes fast) who can help explain to me how and what to do. Go as simple and thorough as you like, its the only way I'll learn. So I was hoping people could elaborate on things like. -Process of taking my car from sitting happily in my parking space in Tokyo to ending up in a compliance garage in Adelaide. Step by step if you can. - Costs of doing so, a breakdown of actual or expected costs would be good - Your experience or advice : what you did and or would do differently - What needs to be changed for compliance, remembering this is a personal import. - What a compliance workshop will do, and what they will charge and what I need to do - Info on shipping both points regarding in japan and in Aus (if you rented the whole container I wanna know abou that too) BIG THANKS in advance, you will make my life, and that of anyone using this info in th future much easier : )

fair enough, not all wheels can have spacers fit, but i still cant work out what the odd shaped 3 holes are meant for?! Hanging on the wall?

The easier option for me might be to drill out the wheels. I dont have a grinder ad living in Japan, I don'T have a garage for that either. Alluminium is relitivly soft so my probably plan is to do this. A PITA but atleast I also know that I can throw them on any car thereafter. But yeah, grinding bolts would be easier. I still cant work out the reason for the strange patten in the first place. Ideas?

After spending about a monnth carefully considering wheel size, width, ofset, maker etc I bought myself a used set of Work Emotion Kais only to find one key problem. The damn things wont fit on. Here is the problem. While my other sets of wheels all have indents on the rear side where my specers threads can hide inside, the new wheels only have a weird shaped open space on three sides. So the threads can avoid hitting the wheel on three sides but the other two it hits by about 2mm. So what the hells with that? Can I get the rims drilled out to compensate for them hitting? In the meantime, I assume running 3mm spacers should fix this, but its not the long term solution Im after. thanks

ok, as simple as that, Im trying to find out what the weight of a tyre is, without wheel, so eg 225/45/17, how heavy would it be?

I wouldnt think the offset would make a difference, as thats different from the pure width of the rim. Might be an issue regarding clearance i guess. For arguments sake, lets say both 17 and 18 inch wheels, so, whats the minimum and max width tires? Any more info from what jap star suggested?

Yeah, ive done the high boost trick (though not 100% sure it worked as the stock guage is stuffed and I never bothered to get an aftermarket one) and Im thinking maybe ill just stick with that for now. Instead I might just buy an electronic boost controller and bring it back with me to fit later, and get it tuned, etc etc

Just a simple wheel/tire question. What range of tire width can you fit to a 9inch wheel and how much for a 9.5 inch? so, eg 215 - 255 or whatever it would be thanks

Im not sure what is hubcentric, so heres the link spacers and heres the hub rings rings the rims have indents for the wheels, and they seemed to fit on fine without touching I also always tighten wheel nuts in a balanced fashion, so I would assume thats ok...

So i just got 20mm specers all around and I noticed on the freeway at between 100-130+ kph the steering wheel would shake fairly strongly and I could feel the vibrations clearly from the front. I heard you could fit hub rings and that would help this problem, but when I rang the shop and ordered the spacers, they seemed to say (it was in japanese, so im not 100% sure) that as I have aftermarket rims I dont need it or they wouldnt fit, or something like that. Can anyone clear this up?

my 33 is braced to the hilt! front strut brace, rear seat over tunnel brace, rear beefy stabilisor, front casterarms? bracing thing, kasnasi service underbody brace, rear suspension member bracing from KTS and I just ordered a rear tower brace. The car is pretty stiff now, although if i really wanted to make it drift flatter i would change the spring rates to something harder. still, im sure it all cant hurt, although i gotta mention I didnt notice so much different from the last 2 parts, kts parts and kansai serice parts, but maybe that was just because there was so much other shit already on it.

The goal is to have as much fun with it drifting as I can. I can probably do it three more times before i gotta put it on a boat and leave. Ive been concerntrating on suspension work all along rather than power, but recently Im getting a little tired of the stockish power. I want to be able to spin it up easier in 3rd gear. Seeing as Im never going to own a car and live in japan again, it seems like I should just go for it and get the extra power. When I get to aus I will slowly think about engine/tuning stuff.

OK, so Im getting the picture that with my stock ecu, stock turbo I can set my boost from the current 7 to 10 and that should run alright, ie no fuel cut, no bullshit. No one mentioned it, but I hear the stock turbo should shoot out the exhaust at around 12psi, so I guess 10 will be safe for that. This is correct? also What power do we think my car has now (stock turbo, ecu, R34 intercooler, turbo back exhaust)? And what might it have on 10psi? how will power delivery/feeling change with this boost up? I wanna know as I have about 8 weeks left living in Japan and I wanna know if I can safely up the power without killing anything before I ship the car back. paying for mechanical drama would be very bad, as moneys to tight to mention. OK, yeah, I just dont wanna have to budget mechanical failure. I also wanna know if it would be worth it, value for money wise. I would fit a boost controller shortly on returning from japan if I dont do it now, so im working out whats best to do when. thanks
