  1. For my R33 which was set up more with drift in mind i had caster - 6-9 deg toe -f - toe out r - 0 or out camber - f - 3 r - 0
  2. Elrodeo666 knows his stuff. I lived in Japan for 7 years and his comments are on the money. and sometimes even just successfully finding these places is half the fun, as you might not see as much as you expected once you get there.
  3. Mine is stock boost and i was planning to just fit my boost controller but i hear it will hiit fuel cut almost instantly unless i get a tune? true? and can the stock ecu be cracked open and remapped or do i need to buy other ecu hardware (aside from completely new aftermarket unit)
  4. cool. I actually have a spare set of LCA but they are modified to be longer (to be used with the modified knuckles i have in a box) so either way I might just get a shop to replace the standard arms themselves if thats infact the issue. Thanks
  5. Ahh crud. If I had a house and garage I would no doubt invest in the press and use it for many a year, but being in a rental appartment, I think this is one for Padders. Anyone know what the labour on this might be?
  6. Actually, I was having a look and wondering if its more a case of removing the rubber outer joint cover, cleaning the joint, replacing the greese and squeezing on a new rubber cover? Thoughts?
  7. Yeah, ok. Im familiar with the part as I have previously replaced the steering knuckles on the car, but does anyone know, it the lower ball joint a part I could theoretically change myself, or is that one for a workshop that would press it in on a bench with the proper press/tools?
  8. Ahh, right, you mean the tie-rod ends? Those are aftermarket items too and would be too new to be worn out.
  9. hmm right. I guess this will probably wait until the weather heats up again in 6 months time. Im still realing from the bill just to get it gassed.
  10. where exactly would the ball joints be? what are they attached to?
  11. Good to know, about washers, will have to investigate proper ones next time. And with the dye weaping from the AC compressor, what exactly might be the reason for the leak and/or what would need to be replaced/fixed? Anyone had this and know what it might cost? Dang, I just paid for an AC regas before summer too... Thanks for the info too White GTS-T
  12. Strut tower has aftermarket upper camber adj arms fitted 5000kms ago, so doubt that would be a problem...
  13. Thats weird if its AC fluid, just because the colour is really that of coolant, but it is nowhere near any coolant lines I know of, so certainly a possibility. I thoughts AC was a gassed system though? The washer used is simply one from bunnings that was the same size as the one that came with the A/M magnet plug I bought. maybe Ill just get it from the car parts shop next time
  14. Its like a creaking, clunk sound and it happens at walking pace turning, such as when i park. All suspension bushes are aftermarket/in good condition.
  15. So I was under the car fitting front swaybar bushes over the weekend and I took the undertray off to get to them and got 2 small shocks - oil and coolant! I knew about the oil actually, as Id seen the telltale drops under my car space. Whats the deal with that leak anyway? I used a new washer and did it up tight enough when I last changed the oil, why does it still leak? How can I avoid this next oil change? More importantly though, is the coolant leak. It seemed fresh enough and while I couldnt see where exactly it was leaking from it had covered what I believe is the power steering pump in a bit of coolant. I checked and my coolant res level and its near the min, so keeping an eye on it. FYI that pic i took is under the turbo side of the engine with the the sump to one corner. Also I replaced 6 water hoses 2 years ago, plus the radiator ones, so this has me a little confused. Thoughts of what part of the engine this leak might originate or why? Thanks
  16. So ive noticed that when Im steering at really low speed I tend to get a clunk sound as if there is play in the steering and its starting to get my interest. Steering feels fine, no real issue there but the clunk has got my attention as its annoying. Anyone have this problem? Fixes?
  17. Hmm, this does make very good sense. I did doubt what he said about tailshaft, as it didnt seem right to me at the time. Im kinda surprised how uninformed regular mechanics are about modified car issues. this certainly isnt the first time ive gone in somewhere knowing more about my car than Im getting told. Everyone seems to think I have a diff problem (as my near new, pro installed Nismo diff chatters), people question my tyre choice and sus set up and its like noone takes sports cars to regular mechanics, as they are a bit illinformed and treat you with an air of superiority, often failing to listen to much to what you have to say. Im sure this is due to a high majority of moron/idiot customers (I work in customer service, they are everywhere) but im getting a bit sick of it.
  18. Jokes aside, I expect a CV joint like that used in the tail shaft would be fine for running at a different angle than dead straight, as thats what they are designed for. has anyone heard different or has any experience in this area, or driftshaft failure, etc?
  19. So I go to get a wheel allignement today and the staffer points out that my swaybar is dangling around and front tyres are too low, but he also commented on the tailshaft. He mentioned something about vibrations because its a 2 piece shaft and as Ive lowered the car the shaft runs at a slight kink as its not at the same angles as Nissan designed it for. As it runs now, i get a stack of noise from the NISMO LSD, but never noticed any other noise/vibration (but thats not to say it doesnt possibly exist) Anyone know anything about this? He told me to go to pedders and get them to set up the suspension/shaft to sort it out, but didnt go into what that might involve. Anyone know what they would do, and can you have a guess at cost? thanks
  20. Excellent. This is good news. I havent put a cage in so far as i like my car being as streetable as possible (it is where its used 99% of the time) and i certainly dont have the cash to make this a track only car. As for getting a cage and bolting it in just for events? thats another solution, something to consider.
  21. I did see something about Group D on their web page, but, atleast for the matsuri, it appared to be a noob class where as I am fairly experienced. Is this the case? I have no interest in tandems, just wanna go out and have my fun (without having to slowly pass spun cars on every corner).
  22. Ahh I see. Nothing against Vicdrift, im sure theyre a great club to be hosting events. My concern is the point I just saw on their page about the requirement for rollcages in 2013. I have a street car and I cant just throw a cage in, i need the seats and space. Which leaves me in a bit of a situation as it seems like the choice is drift and make my car unusable on the road. or no drift. And I wanna drift again.
  23. Bit of a simple quiry this; who organizes drift days in Victoria? Obviously Vicdrift seem to be the main group, but does anyone else organize any circuit days for drift?
