  1. Yes its definitely a real Garret 3071R, I bought it new from GCG about 2 years ago and I still have the box and receipt. I am seriously considering the GT3076 now, thanks I have sent the turbo off to GCG to get a quote for the rebuild and they have told me that the compressor wheel needs replacing (obviously), the housing needs machining, the wastegate needs replacing (jammed shut) and the usual re-balance seals etc... All up almost $1500.00 I have had multiple workshops have a go at extracting more power from it but each time I get the same (or very similar) result. There may be a restriction somewhere but I have been told many times that the 3071 is just to small to make more power. Thanks for the info
  2. Thats exactly why Im considering a new turbo, I have had 3 different dyno tunes done on three different dynos and each time the most power it has put down is 240rwkw... It seems that it wont make any more. To be completely honest I have no idea what my best option is - rebuild or replace?
  3. I might have to have a chat with him, thanks.
  4. Not bad at all, Im assuming that the GT35 is external gate? Sounds like it could be an option, I think I would prefer to have something a bit more responsive though. The GT3071 had almost no lag at all
  5. No problem I didnt think that you could low mount a GT3040 (I thought that they were too big), but anyway... Would a turbo that size be very laggy? I dont have aftermarket cams in mine either.
  6. I would have done a search if I knew which turbo to search for, at the moment I am just looking for peoples opinions on what are my best options but thanks for the link nonetheless.
  7. In my original post I said that I am not looking for high mount and/or external gate... But thanks
  8. Yep, it shat itself about half way through the day... The water pump and clutch decided to let go on the same lap too Can you give me some tips on why to choose HKS 2835 Pro S?
  9. So I recently destroyed my Garret GT30/71R (I think it sucked in a small dog or something). So instead of spending large amounts of cash rebuilding it, I am considering an upgrade... I have the following mods done to my RB25DET: - A'Pexi Power FC - Splitfire coilpacks - 550cc Sard injectors + 044 fuel pump - Turbosmart Supersonic BOV - JJR Front Mounted intercooler 300x600x76 - Trust Power Extreme ll 3" full exhaust (I will also be installing a GReddy Profec B Spec ll boost controller) Using the previous turbo the car made 240kw at the wheels, I would like to see it make 260 - 270kw on a safe tune. I am looking for experienced peoples opinions on what turbo I should get. I am also going to use the standard exhaust manifold so high mount and/or external gated turbos are out. Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks
  10. Mmmmm, I will admit that Midnight Purple R33 GTR's are quite sexy...
  11. If that deal falls through, let me know
  12. This going to sound strange but you have to take my word for it because it works... Get some really fine steel wool (just home grade stuff not industrial or anything) make sure that it is the most fine stuff you can buy, go to a decent auto shop and see if they have "Glass Polish" - it looks just like normal paint polish but its made specifically for glass, Meguires, Auto Smart, Mothers and Turtle Wax all make it. Put the car in the sun and apply the polish with the steel wool, making sure to scrub every single square milimetre of ths glass (dont apply to much pressure or you will scratch the glass) keep the steel wool moist with polish at all times or you will scratch the glass... Leave the polish to dry, then wipe off with a damp clean cotton rag (old bed sheets are perfect) DONT USE NEWSPAPER! Repeat this until all of the marks are gone... WEAR GLOVES because it gets in to your hands, dries them out and your skin will crack and be sore for weeks. Finish off with some spray on glass cleaner and a clean cotton rag. I have used this techique literally hundreds of times (when I was a detailer), it works. Good luck
  13. Hmmm, I have fond memories from that boat ramp... Lets just say - Secluded boat ramp + late night + my car + my girlfriend and me..... Mmmmm fond memories
  14. My choice would either be Work Meister S1 or SSR Professor SP1's Not easy to find or cheap but awesome lightweight strong race rims... *drool*
  15. No problem mate, just PM me if you need a hand and I'll give you my number.
  16. Hey Steve, If you remember where I live you can bring it to my place this weekend and I'll have a good look at it for you, I have heaps of vaccum hose that we can use if you need it. Cheers mate Mick
  17. Some might say that a few of us are full of sh_t too
  18. R33 Gtst's can accomodate up to 9.5 - 10 inch wide rims pretty easily under the rear (assuming that you get the right offset), if you are having trouble with traction try choosing a tyre with a better compound / traction rating over just going wider. If you have a really wide sh_t tyre for example it wont help you get more traction over a really good tyre in a slightly narrower size, most of your traction comes from having a really good tread design and compound and a really well built tyre casing. My suggestion, if you want it to look really good and get great traction is: 18 x 9.5 +40 - +42 offset with 265/35R18 Federal 595RS-R rear and 18 x 8 +35 - +38 offset with 235/40R18 Federal 595RS-R front Speak with the boys at Trojan Motorsport in Mitchell and they can organise some really sweet lightweight Jap wheels or Jax Fyshwick if you want something a bit cheaper (but not lightweight Jap wheels) to get them locally. I hope this helps
  19. Hi Craig, welcome... What model Skyline? R30, R31, R32 or R34... (whales dont count)
  20. Youre just jealous that you cant play
  21. Geezus, someone has forgotten to take their happy pills lately...
  22. You just completely contradicted yourself Gus... If everyone had the same opinion as you do "Im not voting for someone who wont get in" then no one would get voted in. The motorsports complex is something to aim for, have you ever heard the saying "Aim high", if they aim for something like an $80m complex, they may eventually get a $20m complex... At least it is a start. Even the longest journey begins with just one step... You have much to learn young grasshopper
  23. I dont think you could buy it back now, even if you wanted to...
