  1. Its a matter of what the tyre manufacturer recommends and is therefore legal / safe. Most manufacturers advise that 255/35R18's are only fitted to rim widths between 8.5" - 10" (there are exeptions to the rule though).
  2. Looks like a 300x600x76 which is GTR size
  3. I wont be able to bring the Skyline along... Its still in pieces
  4. The BBQ would have only taken 15 minutes if the men were allowed to cook Shell... You wouldnt let us anywhere near it!
  5. I would usually recommend Lonsdale Auto Electrics in Braddon (not northside though).
  6. You may need your aircon system converted from R12 gas (now illegal) to R134A (new gas) which can cost quite a bit. It depends on where you are in Canberra as to which shop to recommend, there are lots of good shops around that can do air con.
  7. I personally have Splitfires and they have been perfect for over 2 years worth of abuse in an RB25 that would be making around 260 - 270 kw at the flywheel. I hear that the JJR ones are pretty decent value for money though.
  8. There is an almost identical thread started on this... Here If its debatable to fit a 255 to an 8 - 8.5" rim then a 7.5 would be almost out of the question dont you think?
  9. Youre entitled to your opinion, what you reckon and what is actual reality are obviously very different. P.s. How long have you been working in the tyre industry?
  10. Yes you read that correctly, well done. Tyre sizes are only relevant within each brand, if you were to line up every single tyre available in 255/40R17 (for example) side by side you would notice that many of them were totally different physical widths. There is no governing rule that says that if you make a tyre with 255/40R17 written on the sidewall it has to be exactly the same width as everything else on the market.
  11. Thats a pretty silly thing to say. Im running 255/40R17's on 8.5" rims at the moment and it looks fine, it depends on what type / brand of tyre you have as to how physically wide it is and what wheel size is recommended. I have personally compared two different tyre brands (which I wont name) in exactly the same size to each other side by side and there was nearly an inch difference in width.
  12. 235/35R18 is an uncommon size, you would be better off getting 235/40R18 and 255/35R18. Without specifying what brand or type of tyre you are looking for you cant possibly hope for a price, there is far to much price variance in the market.
  13. The EVO has a treadwear rating of 240 and isnt really comparable to the Toyo R1R, whereas the RS-R has treadwear 140 which is the same as the Toyo R1R. Through our own testing in the Drift Australia series we have found that the 595RS-R offers almost identical grip (if not more due to lower void ratio) than the Toyo R1R, they're also both about the same price - for example: 235/45R17 RRP R1R=$323.00, 595RS-R=$325.00
  14. The 595EVO is a step up from the regular 595 in terms of dry traction, lateral grip and progressive feel. The 595 is more of a street tyre designed for just about any street car driver looking for a grippy tyre for the right price and it has proven to be a great performer. The 595EVO was designed to be used on "tuner" cars and more high performance street cars such as Skylines, Supras etc and has bigger tread blocks to give a stiffer tread face (for less tread squirm) and a slightly stronger casing designed to give a more stable "footprint" under extreme loads. The treadwear on both the 595 and 595EVO are very similar so you can expect good life from them (if you look after them). You might find that you are unable to get 595EVO's in your vehicles sizes - this is because the official release of the 595EVO isnt planned until early 2009, however there are some sizes currently available. Try - www.federaltyres.com.au and click on the Dealer Locator function to find your nearest store.
  15. Ive noticed that alot of people are playing Fallout3 - Is it really good? (Im thinking of purchasing it)
  16. I seem to remember that the last time we competed against each other at an event I was faster than you? Youre such a bitch...
  17. The RB25DET is actually not as strong internally as the RB20DET or RB26DETT (they're still a strong motor though). My advice - get a GTR, dont bother trying to swap the running gear out of a GTR into a GTST its not worth the effort or large sums of cash when a GTR is a perfectly good base to start with. Beware of GTR's though they're sensational cars to own, drive and modify but if you are going to modify it and have a budget - double it and if you have a time frame - triple it
  18. Sorry about the late replies to any PM's... I have just arrived back in Oz from my trip to SEMA in Las Vegas and I have nearly 30 PM's to reply to... I will get around to replying to all of them soon. Thanks for your patience
  19. I apologise to all who went on Sunday, I woke up at 8:30am to see the wind blowing the rain in sideways outside my house... The tent has no tie downs or pegs so if I brought it and set it up it would have blown away in no time and we would have been chasing it around all day. I am happy to bring the tent to any and all events that we attend as long as the weather is fine - fair. My sincerest apologies, Mick
  20. Spotted this beast in Fyshwick at about 2 o'clock this afternoon... (sounded sooo good going up Newcastle street). I think he needs insurance
  21. Hmmm, Newcastle ey? Where were you on that day Paul (DIRTgarage)??
  22. The problem with these sorts of incidents is that the victim will usually have to wait until the matter goes through court before they see any money (if the offender has no insurance). I have a mate who is still waiting for compensation for a similar incident that happend over 2 months ago... Good luck mate I hope they get the bastard and throw the book at him.
  23. My car repairs are taking much longer than expected, I might not be able to make it
  24. We should get the whole club together again and go take some night shots... I like the idea of going to the top level of Westfield Woden carpark with Sky Tower in the background.
