  2. Hrm.. well seems to be the AFM. We swapped it over this arvo and it only seemed to flash very top of 2nd around 6500rpm. So we took to mine with some contact cleaner and it seems to have gone now. I'll test it during the week but if it still plays up, looks like i'll be in need of a new afm by friday

  4. I dont have a hand controller Maybe I'm going to have to wait till friday when it goes to the mechanic to see what's wrong. I just wanted to try and have it all fixed cause theres a fair lot of stuff that needs doing plus I've got it booked in to get it tuned. I thought that may have been the problem, but I'm thinking otherwise now. I didn't think the settings on the pfc could change? Therefor, what it was tuned to shouldn't change meaning the knock shouldn't change? I'm sure I could get hold of a hand controller before friday but it might just be easier to hand the keys to the mechanic and ask him to fix it.

Ok, diagnosis goes like this. 1st when under load/wot from 4000rpm onwards, check engine light flashes and dumps heaps of fuel smoke. 2nd when under load/wot from 4000rpm onwards, check engine light flashes and dumps heaps of fuel smoke. 3rd when under load/wot from 4000rpm onwards, check engine light flashes and dumps heaps of fuel smoke. 4th when under load from 4000rpm onwards, check engine light flashes and dumps heaps of fuel smoke. (only know from braking and accelorating to put under load) 5th when under load from 4000rpm onwards, check engine light flashes and dumps heaps of fuel smoke. (only know from braking and accelorating to put under load) The car has got, Power FC, apexi fmic, apexi avcr (set to 1bar), running standard turbo and tomei cam gear. Don't ask me what it's set to cause I have no idea. Coil packs have been replaced and I'm running Splitfires. Fuel pump, regulator, injectors are all standard. The light only used to flash occassionally (when I say occassionally, I mean.. VERY occasssionally) when at the drags or giving it heaps on mountain runs (I know that's just general pinging before it becomes audiable) then it's gradually gotten worse where I now I have to drive like a granny otherwise the check engine light starts flashing at me. Thoughts at the moment are, AFM? or fuel pressure regulator (still only got the standard one) or the o2 sensor. Any information would be most helpful. I thought it may have just been a tuning issue, but the more we think about it and investigate it further, the more we think it might be a part failing as such. I'll be testing the afm today and swapping it with a friends to rule out that situation. Any other suggestions? Also, is there any easy way to test that the o2 sensor, fuel pressure reg, fuel pump are going so we can try and rule those alternatives out as well? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. EDIT: with just general driving to and from work, I haven't lost any fuel economy either, if anything gained it because I can't put my foot down.

  7. G'day, I've got some tires for sale, $150 the pair. Federal ss595 (http://www.federaltyres.com/car/ss595.htm) 255/40x17s, came off a 10" rim. Wear on inside and outside due to negative camber and being rotated a while back to get more wear. Heaps of meat on the inside. Not sure if they'd be suitable as a roadworthy tire, look at the pics and judge for yourself. The very inside/outside wear marks is of a different texture, but is basically the same wear height as the rest of the tire. Any further queries PM me.
  8. Hahah I remember those photos... I had to get into the right hand lanes to get the best vantage point. IIRC there were even another few 4wd's that weren't in those pics in other lanes.

  15. This car looks awesome in the flesh. Mark's taken very good care of it and I'm suprised he's selling it. We were discussing the night we saw it that it was very american looking with the rear lights. I also like the look of the older Leopards. I'm wondering whether he will swap for a VL
  16. Saw a black R34 Skyline at the lights on Old Cleveland Road and I think Boundary Road? Not sure, opposite corner to the Swim Mart at around 5:30pm.

  18. When Andrew's (b/f) car was stolen it ended up 200m down the road with his lungs (intercooler) and heart (battery) and other parts missing. There was a screw driver sitting on the road that they used to do all this stuff with and finger prints everywhere. The cops didn't care, it was just a stolen car. That really pissed me off. They tried to take the intercooler while the car was out the front of the house cause the front grille was sitting on the footpath. It was obviously making too much noise so they pushed it off down the road after breaking in. It just happened to be the week that the alarm wasn't working. But cops do have a tough job with 1000's of jobs coming in per day and they do what they can with the resources they have. Anyway.
  19. I agree... women drivers, especially in 4WDs are my biggest pet hates. Women in camry's come a close second. They just have no idea on the general concept of driving and it irritates the **** out of me. I sometimes wish that there were compulsory yearly driving tests for people, I guarantee most of those women would be sitting at home waiting for their husband to get home from work to drive them places. HATE THEM?!!@! I hope it wasn't in the GTR Jason? What car were you in? I could understand her not seeing you if you were in the mini 4WD vs Mini isn't a good combination
