  1. Hi All,

Has anyone got an R33 GTSt airbox I can borrow / rent / buy?

Ive got Stagea series 1 (1997) with pod filter, and need the identity inspection done. I only wish to borrow or rent it for 1 week max.

Havent got a problem with buying one if need be.

Just want to bolt the airbox in, go down have the ID report performed (at Sturt Rd) and then give back the airbox with a 'donation' of your choosing!

  2. Mine has the badges but only on the rear.  the suspention I'm not sure of (have to have a close look next time it is on the hoist).  The exhaust I know is back to standard (compliance) It has the full leather interior (Black).  MOMO black leather tiller (airbag).  Carbon fibre look dash, consol and door switches.  Suede door inserts.  I came with 18's (not DAYZ).  Rear wing, body kit colour coded (no black rubber strips).  electric everything (I think they all have this).  I think that is about it.

    Cheers ICE

    SWEET. Sounds real nice............... :uh-huh:

  3. I have an R33 airbox + snorkel.  make a reasonable offer.

Hi, Have you sold your original r33airbox and snorkle?

Im intrested in buying one asap.

I live in adelaide, and have got a Stagea... would like the airbox to get thru Regency.

    Cheers, brendan

  4. Nope, you are supposed to turn left before the gravel......or is it right....

Actually, in order to stop, try Both! Turn left real hard, then a quick right turn even harder, and 'hopefully' you'll stop, facing the way you came! But I wouldnt want to try it!!! :innocent:

Look at it this way, the brakes stop you from dying and the suspension keeps the tread evenly on the ground (so that the brakes can stop you from dying!).

If you're spending cash modifying a vehicle then spend roughly 25-30% of your budget on the brakes and suspension. Thats just my 5c, for whatever its worth.

On the CBR900RR Ive had all the suspension rebuilt by an ex 1980's 500GP rider to suit my 2m tall 125kg frame, but am saving for my last 2 mods, $500 310mm wave rotors with the correct offset, and a $1200 Ohlins rear suspension linkage.

The bike goes hell hard thru the Adelaide Hills (I go out 1st thing on a weekend morning to minimise traffic density and the risk of being BUSTED). But it'll be a different beast again once the brakes are back up to spec, and the rear is all sorted with top spec Ohlins (I get stuff at wholesale, so save mega $$).

    'Aint mod's fun?

  5. Can you post some photos of the DAYZ kit? Im keen to find out what mine is, its the same as RSO04's kit..

RSFour kindly emailed me these pics.... Ive got the full kit, havent checked the suspension as yet, doesnt have the exhaust (it was replaced in Qld), front badge and grill or interior options.

I cant be sure if Ive just got a Dayz bodykit (minus the grill, so is it a repica?) or if the Japanese owner only ticked half the options available.

Would like to know if Ice12 has all of the options, interior included?

  6. Hi SK - Yup, had a look at that as soon as it came up. Thank you.....

Well done on posting up the info that ppl's can use for those extremely important things called brakes!

FYI ppl's, Ive got a mod'd Fireblade (150rwhp up from 115 stock).... yay to me, and as part of my 9grand spent on mods I did a 17inch front wheel conversion from a USA model CBR600 F3. With the new rim, I couldnt use the standard sized 310mm rotors, and have to use F3 296mm rotors, due to offest size.

Even with the top pads on the market, cleaned up calipers, and stainless steel braided lines, the brakes arnt anywhere near as good as what they were - and believe me, when you've gone up in power by 30% and dropped weight by a few kgs, you really notice the lack of feel and bite. At xxx speeds it can be scary!

For those that are spending say over 5k on engine mods, think long and hard about doing a cheap DBA upgrade, as per SK's Stagea Brake thread. You will notice the difference, and be glad you upgraded.

Cheers to you all, good luck with the mods!

    Brendan

  7. So got some DBA rotors this morning and I am still persuing the brake pads

    Hi SK,

Ive read so much great info about Stageas from your threads, cheers to you.

FYI, I put cross drilled and slotted DBA rotors to the front end of my VR SS sedan (trying to sell it now that Ive got CoolPC's stagea), and slotted discs only to the rear end. Used Bendix Ultimate pads..... I can confirm that they change the braking remarkedly for a 1600kg car. Definately worth the small $$ outlay.

May I ask if you upgraded the front and rear, and what sort of DBA's are you going to use? Good luck with the pads.

  8. Apparently Ive got a Dayz edition 1997 Stagea, and I reckon the bodykit looks ace. RSFour just alerted me to the fact, sending me a picture of a dayz edition brochure.

The Dayz edtion bodykit is very subtle with a nice rear end and sides, and a sweet-as front bar with the spotlights and number plate mount, but honestly it looks just so much nicer than the plain-jane standard Stagea's.

But I wouldnt be spending 2k on a bodykit, that sort of money would be best spent elsewhere. Perhaps a copy bodykit, as previosuly suggested for say 1k?

  9. It was MV Automatics (speak with Mike) 1 Stirling Rd Blackwood, SA 5051.  Highly recommended shifts a whole lot better and harder. Cheers ICE

Sweet, thanks Ice! I'll keep that in mind for when Im ready to have it installed.

Hey, I too have a Dayz edition (just found that out!).

    Brendan.

  10. nengun, cost me $1200 delivered

:whatsthat Funny, I have read that in a previous thread, and have actually already done a search to check it out. Saw the pics and prices on the website and have considered it. Was also intrested in those Tein adjustable suspension jobbies, but thats for another day (the current standard suspension is all ok for the moment). Thanks very much for the helpful info tho.

Im trying to keep under 2grand for a 3inch turbo to cat dump pipe, a 3inch Catco cat converter (bought), a Hybrid 3stage boost controller (bought), a Apexi SAFC II AFM (bought), an intercooler, a Black Widow car alarm (bought), with all items fully installed. So far Ive spent $1150 on those bought items, so looks as if Im going to be right on the mark.

I'll be pushing it though I reckon!!!!

And Ive had the Stagea for a whole 5 days now! :innocent:

    Thanks again, Brendan.

  11. FMIC installation return feed 250 x 600 x 76

Thanks for the advice and pics, return feed looks like its exactly what Im after.... now trying to find one!! I know of an ARC one for sale, but $1400 is past my budget.

Might end up modifying a smaller core (say 400 x 250 x 76) with a 180degree return feed under the cooler so that the pipework comes back to original openings.

    Brendan

  12. Thinking of getting a $649 HYBRID Power Gt spec Tube & Fin intercooler, 600mm x 300mm x 76mm, "End to End is 800mm".

    Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whether this type of front mount intercooler will fit up into the frontal area of a Series 1 Stagea?

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

(see above thread or search "Hybrid Skyline" in ebay)

A lot of you seem to be very informed and knowledgeable in regards to Stagea's, can I have some info in regards to this type of cooler, or other suggestions?

R34 standard coolers seem to be hard to come across, and so are side mount replacement coolers, ie Blitz, Trust, ARC.

Ive measured inside the front bar of the Stagea's bodykit, and it looks to my untrained eye that an end to end 800mm size would be pushing things a bit and would involve a fair bit of chopping and cutting.... Ive been thinking maybe a 400 x 300 x 80mm might be better off (end to end 520mm), with custom piping?

With custom piping, is it better to run the 3inch pipes back from (either under the cooler or behind) where the original holes are? Or cut a new hole on the drivers side of the engine bay (around the battery area, as a hybrid kit would most likely require)? Id prefer to use the holes already kindly supplied in the car from the factory! ;)

Ive read most of the other intercooler threads on the forums, and a lot of you ppls really know your stuff when it comes to Stageas so any help and info would be fantastic! Ive been lucky enough to receive great advice from RSFour and others so far; more infomation on this subject would be hugely appreciated!

Ive already bought (or am bidding on) a S-AFC II, a 2-stage elec boost controller (to replace the turbosmart blled valve), a 3inch dump pipe and a 3inch catalytic converter, so I want an intercooler fairly soon and will have it all installed and tuned at the same time.

Please email me [email protected] if you have some suggestions, or reply to this post.

Ive had my Stagea for a whole 4 days now and love it! The looks the car gets is almost out of this world, 95% of the general Adelaide population have no idea what it is (baring those who are addicted to playstaion's Gran Turismo 4)

  13. Easy stuff,

Im also with Shannons (monthly payment option.....) :uh-huh:

Had a $100 cheaper quote from Just Cars, but my Fireblade is through Shannons, so paying monthly for both vehicles makes it easier. More cash for mods!!

  14. Peps, As the title says Im looking for Full comp insurance!

Anyone have any good places to go through?

    Cheers

    Darren

    Hi Deluxe,

Here's some return info for you.... :Pimp2:

Try Shannons Insurance (phone number in phone book), then Just Car Insurance (online quote), and maybe Young & Cool car insurance (do a search for their phone number on Yellow Pages, pretty sure they are NSW based).

The quotation all depends on your age and rating history. All above 3 insurance companies should be close in price...... :uh-huh:

    Hope that helps.....

  15. Hi Mate,

Looks real neat and very professional, nice stuff.

Ive got a Series 1 1997 Stagea wagon (RB25det) with aftermarket K&N pod airfilter. Will soon be adding a Hybrid front mount intercooler.

How much for one of these enclosed pod airboxes, with postage to adelaide, and do you know if it'll fit a Stagea?

    Regards, Brendan

  16. Thanks for the info;

Ive decided due to better flow rates I'll get the split dump pipe, probably the larger style cat converter, but just need to research what size intercooler will fit into the front bar of the Stagea - my stag has a bodykit, so want to make sure the intercooler will fit.

Thinking of getting a $700 HYBRID Power Gt spec Tube & Fin intercooler, 600mm x 300mm x 76mm, "End to End is 800mm".

Cheers, if anyone has suggestions on intercoolers your feedback would be greatly appreciated! (Im off right now to pick up my Stagea from the vehicle freight yard - how exciting!!)

    Brendan

  17. Hi all,

Recently bought myself a nice 97 Series 1 Stagea, all round good condition, including a couple of modifications already performed.

Im looking at adding on a front mount intercooler, a turbo to cat converter dump pipe and a catalytic converter (with all exhaust parts to be 3inch). The car already has a cat-back 3inch exhaust system, which runs nice and quiet. :whatsthat

What size could fellow Stagea owners recommend I go for the front mount intercooler kit? I'm looking at buying a bolt on FMIC to suit an R33 GTS-t, size 590x280x80 or 600x300x76.... which one would be the best fit for a Stagea?

With the turbo to catalytic converter dump pipe, what is the best way to go.... a split dump pipe or a single front dump pipe (probably from BATMBL)? Looking to keep to a budget, but alos after as much HP increase as possible.

Any suggestions please would be greatly appreciated.

    Brendan :wizard:

  18. Look forward to seeing you on the road.

    Cheers

    Daniel

    Thankx Dan,

See you out there!! Will have the Stag on the road in the next day or two, just waiting on the call from the transporter! :flamer:

    Brendan :bond:

  19. Thank you all for your kind information and suggestions.

I'll take off from the car all that I can for the identity inspection.

Better to be safe for this inspection rather than be sorry (and be sent down to the evil Regency).

I'll put everything back on when I have the 80000km service in conjunction with a FMIC installation and turbo-cat dump pipe install.

    Cheers all, Brendan

  20. Hey fella, nice work on the purchase, was thinking of one of those before buying my 33, I think there is a few more than 3 in adelaide, but not 3 well tough ones, as i can't wait to see a PHAT as FUNK one here.

As for workshops, i personally use and would recomend Graham West on Marion Rd, good down to earth bunch of blokes that do some quality work, and they can help with whatever you need.

See you on da streets, peace out

    Deluxe :uh-huh:

Thanx Deluxe! Great advice, I'll have a chat to that workshop too and see how they might be able to look after me (Im a southern lad so its reasonably close to home, just a 'boost' away! :matrix: )

Always wanted a R33, but 1 kid, another on the way and a puppy dog now dictate that a wagon is the go, how could I go past a 4wd RB25Det? Just couldnt! Ive only seen 2 stag's on the streets, so there definately arnt that many down here. Mine is silky white pearl, with a neat & mild bodykit and HKS badge on both front quarter panels.

If any of you see that sweet-as gold 150rwhp Fireblade in the hills on any given sunday, I'll try not to embarrass you! :uh-huh:
