  1. Good luck with your knee op Brendan.  I'm due for my 3rd op on my left knee so I know what you have to go through :O

Is BassJunky still making up the metal pipework from the AFM to the turbo ?  That might gain a bit of an increase.  Don't forget adj cam gears either :D

    J

Cheers Jay, I hope you havent had to go thru the shit'e Ive been thru with my damn knees (1 to the left, 6 now to the right) - fact is Im only 27, am 6ft 8inches tall and a solid 130kg (oops, didnt go to the gym & must have gained 5 over winter... :D )

I'll have to look into bassjunky's threads to find that little part from the afm to turbo - wasnt aware of it. I can see how it might help in conjunction with the larger AFM, tuned SITC and SAFC...... thanks for the tip.

My tip to you; grab a prosthetic and save yourself the trouble!! Joke! Im just a tad 'down' on the fact that my knee is kaput.... had bones moved around, muscles cut out, tendons cut off and bolted down elsewhere, MACI procedure with all cartilage taken out, regrown and reinstalled (like a hiflow!), and now had all that cartilage mowed back down - was like a lawn under my kneecap, and has been just too damn painful.

Thank god for Stagea's (and CBR900RR Fireblades!) - at least that keeps me sane!

Good health to all of your knees, fellow Stagea lovers.

    Brendan :)

  2. The standsrd fuel pump should be fine, if not an R33 GTR pump will cover it easily.  Have you got a heat shield and cold air feed for that POD?  If not, do some shopping on the forum.  Then of course there is my favourite topic, suspension.  There is a great Group Buy on at the moment I hear, already sold 4 Stagea kits.

    ;) cheers :)

    Thanks SK,

Cant afford the whole suspension package at the moment, but have been thinking about some of those items! ie, swaybars, etc.

With the GTR fuel pump, are they still available brand new? The workshop said to stay away from second hand fuel pumps....... I was looking at grabbing a Bosch pump as they aint that expensive.

And yes, I bought a complete custom airpod filter surround with sides and a lid off of these forums, to suit a series 2 R33. I modified it a bit to fit, and it works a treat. Have backed it with high temp foam insulation, to help with any heat leakage but mainly for noise issues.

  3. Hi all,

About to head off and have my 7th knee surgery this arvo, so will be out of the Stagea for a month or so (and will be off the bike; damn that pisses me!). :)

So, opportunity knocks to start buying more go-hard bits for the Stagea... what should I be buying next?

Got a Z32 AFM meter, good clean 2nd hand condition,

Got a brand new Apexi Super ITC,

Waiting on a Nismo fuel pressure adjustable regulator,

Plus going to have the workshop supply new high pressure fuel lines and fuel clamps - but what sort of fuel pump should I be buying? Bosch 040 or 044 (want around 180-200kw at the 4wheels).

Once I grab that, where else should my small change be going? (got a full exhaust from turbo back with hiflow cat, got a larger intercooler, got a pod filter and custom surround, got a ebc tuned to 10psi, and got an Apexi SAFC-II, with 141.3kw at the 4 wheels).

    Any cheap arse purchasing suggestions?

    Brendan ;)

  4. My apologies also; just had way too many things to do around the house before I have my 7th right-knee surgery this wednesday.

Apologies to you all, would have loved to show of my silky white pearl Stagea RB25det wagon, but hopefully I will be right to drive again in 6weeks time (I hope!!, see how this knee pulls up).

    Brendan

  5. Ive got a K&N filter panel in my standard airbox with SS inductions cold air inducution set, on my VR V8. Noticed a big difference when that all went on.

Got twin K&N air pods ontop of my flatslide racing carburettors on my modified CBR900RR Fireblade - awesome.

Plus have a K&N pod filter in custom surround in my Nissan Stagea, tuned with 141.3kw at the 4wheels. Nice suction sound, and works a treat.

    K&N everytime for me.

I dont really care, i would have expected it, just to any new stagea buyers, even if they say its got 70,000 on the clock, like mine does now, dont trust it

Just coz its a small country, and a digital KM counter, it can still be wound back...

PS. Now i know why my trans is in such bad condition (at least i am a car enthusiast and plan rebuild+to replace most parts anyway)

Thats a real shame - bad luck.

I asked my workshop to determine if the kms on my Stagea seemed genuine and it was the consensus that the total allround condition of the Stagea has in fact travelled around the 80000km mark, but you can never be too sure.

  7. I had my Stagea thru Sturt Rd around 4weeks ago. Brought it down from Queensland, and took in all my receipts (ie fresh QLD Roadworthy Certificate, QLD rego papers, receipt for the purchase of the car, etc). Had new tyres on the car, and was in clean condition.

I dont recall them looking at the paperwork at all. They took down the numbers from the engine, vin, chassis etc, and filled out a form, which then gets processed when you go to Registration & licensing to get your new SA plates and pay stamp duty and other fees.

But, I did take all the obvious mods off from the car - bought a standard airbox in lieu of the pod filter, took out the boost controller that was in the engine bay, and removed the dash mounted boost gauge. Took it all off 'cause I didnt want trouble. I reckon your brakes will be fine, unless they scrutineer your tyres that you mentioned....

Maybe take off what goodies you can, and have it in a box in the car. If they start going over the car and all that then show 'em what you've taken off and tell 'em you've been trying to do the right thing, Im sure they will appreciate that. Also, take whatever paperwork you have.

Sturt Rd is open 9-3 Wednesday and Thursday only.

    Good luck. Brendan ;);)

  8. Thanks for the advice SK.

It was a good price for a NEW Apexi Super-ITC, so I thought what the hell, just get one.

I'll have to decide whether I install it all (sitc, z32, fuel lines and pump) in December and have it re-tuned along with the Safc-II, or wait until Ive got a spare 2k for the turbo upgrade. Hmmmm.

Mind you, 150kw might be aok for a few years (allow me to sort the brakes and suspn first).

Cheers for your advice so far SK, greatly appreciated.

    Brendan ;)

  9. I would replace the standard ECU with a Power FC

    :) cheers :)

    Hi SK,

Mate; is the Apexi Super Ignition Tinming Converter actually worth while using with the Stagea? :)

I just bought a Brand New one for $240US. I'll receive it in a few weeks hopefully.

Also ordered the Nismo fuel regulator from Nengun Performance that we chatted about, Ive already got a Z32 AFM, and will get the tune shop to supply high pressure fuel hose and clamps and install a Bosch 040 fuel pump.

With the above, and with my 141.3kw at the 4wheels (ebc, full 3inch exhaust, safc, r34gtt intercooler) what psi could the boost be safely used at, and what sort of power increase might the Stagea be able to obtain?

Kind regards mate, and cheers to you

    Brendan :P

  10. My wife was deadset against spending 18k on a Stagea - I flew up to QLD from SA 6 weeks ago to do the deal and the wife was spitting chips at me (for buying it, and not for taking her up there, although I was in Brisbane for less than 6hours!). ;)

Now we've got the Stagea RB25DET 4wd and had it nicely tuned with 141kw at the 4wheels, I cant keep her out of it. Its the 6th one in Adelaide, and she loves the looks and queries she gets when she's driving it. Plus its great for the little tackers as well.

Might have to sell her Daewoo Nubira (2yrs old 10000kms) as she doesnt use it anymore; its the Stagea or nothing!!!!

But at least she understands the performance bug - Ive spent over 9grand now modifying my CBR900RR Fireblade, and she hasnt complained as yet.

    Brendan

  11. :O

It's not the tubo that is going to limit you, it is the ECU.  I haven't been able to get an RB25DET much over 225 rwkw with the standard computer and using piggy backs.  The compromises just get too much to tune around.

    Other items are easy;

    Tomei 256 Poncams

    Split dump/engine pipe combo

3.25" exhaust with a real high flow cat

    Adj exhaust camshaft pulley

(Maybe one of Bass Junky's adjusters for the inlet camshaft as well, but I haven't tested mine yet)

Pipercros panel filter in the standard airbox

    S15 JDM manual injectors (444 cc's)

    R32/33 GTR fuel pump

    R33/34 GTR intercooler

    Z32 AFM

Unfortunately that's the problem with wanting more than ~210 4wkw, everything needs upgrading.  So the cost of the extra 50 4wkw is very high.  That's why my target is ~200 4wkw, it is a very economical to achieve power level.

    :D cheers  :(

    Thanks for the advice, SK.

    Cheers to you.

    Brendan

    ;)

  12. Just had the Jay Car kits Dyno tuned today.

150 KW at all 4 wheels    2nd gear with snow button on.

DFA and IEBC have given me an extra 20 KW at all 4 wheels from my last dyno of 129KW

Thats a nice result - could you maybe post up a list of everything you've had installed on the Stagea, just to give me some ideas (and others!) as to how to gain some more 4wkw?

    Thanx, Brendan :D

  13. Thanks SK. :)

Now, in regards to the CGC High Flow, what is the MAX they are good for atw's? Is it possible to get 250-300atw's? :)

    Cheers,

    Chris

GCG emailed me and were reckoning 220kw no worries, so I guess its a matter of fueling and cooling to get that bit more, or perhaps a bigger turbo (really, I have no idea!! - thats why Ive been asking some questions :D )

    Cheers,

    Brendan

  14. My God, this threads fantastic! :)

    :D

Yeah, SK is just so imformative; Im really glad he's been able to contribute so much to these various threads. Makes fantastic reading, and Im sure a lot of members have been able to gleen a lot of information from SK. I certainly have, so a big Cheers to you mate.

    Sweet... Brendan :)

  15. Hahaha Brendan  , I wasn't pulling your leg.  I used a Nakamichi head unit with a 120 watt per channnel 4 channel SoundStream amp and 4 X MB Quart coaxials (one in each door).  No room for sub's though, I need the rear space for race car stuff.  Load carrying is the main reason why I got a Stagea in the first place.  That, and its ability to tow the race car.

Sound is good, no doof doof in my Stagea. :D

    :) cheers  :)

No drum'n'bass then?... Oh well, each to their own hey!! Thats all I really listen too- not into the lyrics and electric (air!) guitars, Kiss style face paint and the like :)

Yeah, the stag boot space is for using, not clutering up with sub-boxes and the like. Mines for the increasing family (read prams and dog), and towing the Fireblade to Mallala (just got to get a towbar and a trailer first!). Hopefully I can install an amp under one of the seats and just use good speakers thru the doors, maybe a small sub into the rear floor..

Good stuff. Anyways, I reckon your suggestion re: fuel lines is apt, so Im going to get that part all organised (fuel pump, nismo fpr, beefy lines etc + the z32afm I already have), and set up some dyno time with GWW to recalibrate the SAFC. No big injectors for me then.

Then save for the never-ending further mods. Brakes first, then turbo. Then suspension. Or as the funds allow. <_<

    Cheers, Brendan

  16. Oh no, I actually did the stereo first. :(  :)  :)

    :) cheers :)

;) Im not sure I want to believe that SK!! :)

Now I know how Luke felt when Darth had a 'father to son' chat with him in SkyCity....... hahahahaha

Sweet - how many Amps & Subs did you fill up the wagon space with??!!

    Brendan
