  1. Why dont people toughen up the auto box and adjust the stall (maybe even manualise). Surely it would be quicker off the line. Or are the transmissions just piss weak
  2. On a similar topic: A couple of mates are going snowboarding next week in Sapporo and will have a few days in town during some sort of winter festival. They want to know if there are any motorsport events or tuning houses' that would be worth a visit while they are there. Any info much appreciated Thank you
  3. if you cant afford to run the skyline I dont know what you are doing considering a porker a vl is an inline 6
  4. RB 26 VL- you are wanted in the WA section of Calaisturbo.com I followed this build for a while on your site- nice work
  5. Legal Aid wont help Whether you sue depends on how much it was worth- there are some amounts it is just not worth it. Never sue on principle- always leaves a bad taste in your mouth. PM me with the amount and contact details and I might be able to help
  6. Scary 5spd vlt- $7000- low 14s pretty much stock 5spd r33 gts- $14000- what? maybe 16s if you are lucky double the price and half the performance is a big compromise all for the sake of a dash board that doesn't look like a cannon emplacement. If insurance is your concern shop around. If you just cant get a turbo because of that it may be worth saving up and waiting and making your first really good car a GTR rather than going through 4 or 5 cars in the meantime and loosing all that $ my 2c
  7. you gotta spend money on these things- I got a Bell 850. I found the major problem with detectors is falsing- going off when there is no radar around- no alarm is any good if it falses- boy who cried wolf. As expensive as mine is it still falses on K band- therefore I have turned K off (at least thi model has this feature) K is only used on the cruisers so until I go out bush or hit serious freeway time I should be OK. Warning time varies greatly- from 500m to 10m (impossible to slow down from some distances so the lesson is these things do not give you carte blanche to drive faster) depeding on many different factors.
  8. mmmmmmm. 3.2l twin cam 4valve per cyl tt v6- you cant tell me that wont make good power- bye bye v8s supercharged- bahhh- why bother
  9. I had the opportunity of taking one for a test drive around northbridge (so I couldn't fully open it up) and the dealer wouldn't let me take off the traction control. I was quite impressed. As already said it runs at low boost and has a small cooler. Any modification whatsoever will void the warranty. Ford are a bit concerned about the gear box not holding up to much more boost. But let the xr6 mature- it could turn out to be a true monster. Once the warranty run out watch as people do the same things to them as get done to skylines and vl turbos, cooler, boost etc. ps. the rumour is that all ford testing was done at 270kw and then it was engineered back to 240 to preserve the warranty- but the point is it is good to go at 270 as is. the weight will be a big problem and dont see how they will get around it. People buying an xr6 apparantley want all the fruit- half a cow, arctic a/c etc. Should be interesting to see if holden try and keep up by putting a huffer on the new v6 comming out of fishermans bend in a couple of years. supposed to be a very nice mill. And after all this would not be holdens first flirt with a turbo commodore. All hail the vl!
