  2. I'm definitely on the Cressida bandwagon. One of the guys at work has one(stocker), and I always look at it and think hmmm.... But then I've always wanted a Honda City Turbo, after I got annihilated at the lights by one in my Liberty. Also of course the Nissan March Super-Turbo, Mira Turbo etc. Grab a cheap used intercooler or one of the cheap Chinese ones, front mout it, and then swap your scooped bonnet with someone else who wants it for one that is normal, for the stealth look. An decent exhaust should cost f-all, same with a bleed valve. They are so light, you'd chop so many cars that didn't ecpect it.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. My mate should bring his gear down tomorrow hopefully so I'll be able to get her up ok, but I'll remember that for the future or if he doesnt get is A-hole out of bed before lunch time like he usually doesnt.
  4. I just had a peek under the GTR today. After trying to get it up on ramps and failing because the approach angle is too high on the ramps, I thought I'd just use the car jack. I contemplated this for all of 3 seconds(2.5 really), before I decided bugger that for a joke. I ended up just poking the nose over a short drop. My friend has a proper jack and stands so I'll get a proper look on the weekend if I get a chance. I couldn't see what I was looking for(water leak), but I did notice that the front pipes look to be significantly damaged. I think its around the point where the two merge into one, and I think its mostly on the pipe thats more on the bottom, but also going through where they merge. I would estimate that if you had a cross-section of the pipe, the overall area would have decreased by at least 1/3, maybe more. I know this is very bad for exhaust flow, and affects both how fast the turbo/s spool up and how fast the engine builds revs(to a lesser degree probably), but just how bad do you think this is restricting my car? Now I definately have to get new front pipes.
  5. Thats wrong actually mate. I got hit from behind in my Subie a few months ago. The driver was uninsured, and I made a point not to even move my car until I had called the cops, they had turned up, and cops said yep, her fault, you can move the car ok now. She got done for negligent driving. If the other driver is at fault and uninsured, always get at least a witness's details, preferably a police report. It is up to you where you take your car to get fixed, it just might make it harder to get the money back if you do. The woman who crashed into me tried to get me to take my car to a shop where her ex worked at, but I had it taken to a place which I know is good. I had insurance though, so I claimed through my insurance and they pursue it against her.
  6. Bass Junky's performance parts: As for the efficiency of Junky of bass you divide. I could do this all day. Bass Junky's parts are made to the highest standards: You can do the part of Junky of bass to high level
  7. Import Corona GT Turbo. Take off GT + Turbo badges and it looks just like a regular 'rona. Except with boost.
  8. Ok, sounds like I should do the basic checklist and if its still not right I'll get it checked out. Am I on the right track re the engine flush procedure? How do I check a radiator cap? Apart from visual? Yes it is factory fan I believe. Also, radiator cap is a Cusco high pressure unit, if that has any significance.
  9. Thanks guys. Scooby, it doesn't have a misfire anymore. It did have, but that was injector related and has been fixed now. Also, I've checked the water for oil and found no sign, although it was a bit dirty. The oil is only a few 100kms old and I can't see any sign of water in it either. So to flush the engine of the old fluid I disconnect the rad hoses and connect the garden hose to the bottom rad hose going into the engine? And do the same to the radiator? Should I used some kind of engine flush chemical treatment? Could it be related to bad ignition timing or something like that?
  10. Hey guys, After finding and fixing the misfire in my GTR, I've had yet another set back. Its now got a cooling system problem. After a drive a few weeks ago it was bubbling (boiling) in the radiator and/or overflow bottle. I let it idle for five minute with the bonnet up (fan on) and it stopped bubbling. The needle on the temp gauge didn't move at all really. I thought maybe I just hadn't given it enough time to cool down after boosting. I hadn't really driven it much lately because of the misfire and no insurance, but I've got those two sorted out now and it will be getting a lot more use. It was bubbling fairly loudly yesterday after a drive, and I had cruised downhill in 5th gear for 3kms or so before I stopped, after a mild drive back on the highway so it should have cooled ok I would think. The gauge had risen to 3/4 after fanging, maybe just over. Also, leaked coolant from somewhere, which I hadn't noticed before. Maybe 200ml or so. It was late and I didn't have time to check it out properly. Now, my question for those of you who are kind enough to help me out: What should I be checking, replacing or looking at to remedy this situation? My list so far includes: 1. Coolant flush and repalce. It hasn't been changed from Japan yet (only a few 100kms). Should I do this myself, or take radiator to a radiator place to clean? What about engine side? 2. Check thermostat. Whats the likelihood of this being jammed or stuffed or something? Someone suggested just don't run a thermostat. 3. Obviously, check for leaks. Any points I should look into specifically? Thanks in advance for your help guys.
  11. Actually, with their Third Party Property, Justcar cover damage to your car if you are involved in an accident caused by an uninsured vehicle/driver. So thats why.

  16. Just spoke to JustCar again to clarify. They cannot alter their policies at all, i.e. me waive the part of the policy that covers me if I get hit by an uninsured vehicle. They cannot offer insurance to any damaged vehicle, this includes dents and scratches.
  17. Yeah, I managed to get two quotes before the oldies realised I hadn't got insurance. I want to get another one though, because one is about $500 less than the other(it doesn't include remove/replace rooflining and a few other things). I dont know how long the claim processing will take, and I dont quite have enough cash to just get it done and follow up the claim later. They might just say that the damage was there before they took custody, and then I'd have to pursue it thru my importer/broker.
  18. Here's the deal: My car supposedly got damaged in transit from Japan, nothing too major, just a few dings and scratches, but its spread over most of the car. Its nothing more than what most cars on the road have, but I was told it was in a lot better condition, so thats why I'm claiming. I'm not totally convinced it happened after the car left Japan however. Now I'm trying to get my claim in against the shipping company and their insurance, but its going slow, because I need quotes for repair, and my car is uninsured and I've been banned from driving it until it has at least third party. I live at home, which is too cushy to risk getting kicked out(it lets me have a GTR + another car), and also I realise there is a very slight chance of something happening, beyond my control even, while I'm driving and crashing up $100k+ damage to other vehicles or property. Now I finally got around to getting insurance. I had gotten several quotes from JustCar etc, and I followed up one of these for TPP insurance. After several minutes taking details, I was eventually told that they could not commence cover until all the damage had been fixed. Famous dont do third party insurance, but they said the same, no cover till its fixed. This is because they also cover my vehicle if it is hit by an uninsured vehicle, and if its damaged already that would confuse things too much. I'm not sure if they mean it'd conflict with the other claim, or just the existing damage level before an accident. What should I do? Does anyone know if any companies insure with existing damage? Will they cover me if I waive that part of the cover? Arrgh! My car is finally running right, I've got the PowerFC ready to go in and get tuned(+ a few other bits), and I cant drive it! HELP!
  19. And first prize goes to....r33_racer! Thanks guys. It ended up being something related to the injector, I don't know exactly what, but something was loose, and it has now been tightened. If this sounds vague, thats because I was in Port Stephens with my girlfriend when one of my mates and his dad found the problem. I only spoke to my mate for about a minute so I dont know yet. I just got back, and I started her up and she sounds sweet; I've only got one burbling car now!(Subaru) Now, in with the PFC and off to get it tuned! I just dont know whether to get the exhaust finished(front pipes, dumps and cat) before I do this or get it done later. I meant to get it before, but I've had a few unexpected expenses lately so I dont know how the funds will go. Same with Poncams or cam gears.
  20. Thanks mate, but like I said, I've swapped the sparkplugs between the suspect cylinder and a good one and there was no change. That was first on the list of checks after the coil.
  21. Scooby: Yeah, I'll check the plug when I'm checking the wiring, if thats what you mean. If you mean sparkplug, again, read my original post; I've swapped it already. r33_racer: I'll add injector to the list of things to check. Is it hard to disconnect and swap with another cylinder? I've never touched an injector before, but I'll have a mate who is clued up with me tomorrow, so may be ok. Thanks for your suggestions guys
  22. Thanks mate, I'll check the wiring and make sure that is ok, and if I cant pinpoint the problem to that wiring or anything else I'll drive up to JustJap(only 20mins away) and see if they'll let me test one if they have one available. Thanks again.
