I'm about ready to go to an auto-electrican, so if anyone can help diagnose and solve my problem, i'll forward $50 your way. I studied a couple years of electrical engineering, and am handy with a multimeter, so not a complete newbie! My parkers circuit in my 33 keeps blowing fuses under the bonnet, from what i can work out, the following source power through that particular fuse: - front parkers - rear tail light parkers - number plate light - dash illumination - radio illumination wire - beeper under dash when door is open, or lights left on - somehow the interior light is also effected, as now when it is set to door, it stays on all the time - and with the lights turned on, it is only half-brightness which is weird behaviour. I've tried to inspect front parker globes, numberplate light, no visual shorts. Removed dash cluster, still blowing fuses. Checked radio illumination wire, taped up well. Checked one brake light, visually ok. Hard to check the other light due to my boot install. Checked the resistance accross the two wires going to the unplugged numberplate light , approx 0.5 Ohms indicating a short somewhere. Unplugged column switch, still 0.5 Ohms accross numberplate light, so not the actual switching mechanism. When i put a new fuse in, my beeper works ok, and key ignition lights up, as soon as i turn on parkers, fuse blows. I'm happy to cut the relevant wire along the side of the car, to help isolate the problem to the front/rear end of the car, not sure on wiring colours though. Any smart auto-electricans who can provide assistance?????

My Autowatch alarm has the inbuilt turbo timer. If your car only runs for 2-3 minutes, it will not use the turbo timer and the engine will shut down immediately. If the car runs for longer, the turbo timer counts down for a preset time (i think mine is set to 90 seconds). This works fine for me, i choose to go for an alarm with the t/timer in it, to reduce the amount of unnecessary wiring + electronics in my car.

I'm going to ring around too when i get a chance. If you speak to a customer service operator, and you arn't happy with the agreed value, try asking to speak to their supervisor to see if they can do something better!

The number plate light is also powered through the Parkers fuse, ive unplugged the lights in case they filled up with water when i was washing my car, but still blowing fuses. Does anyone have a link to a full wiring diagram for 33's?

I've just renewed the insurance on my 33 with JustCar, and was surprised to see the agreed value had dropped to $12,850. I thought agreed value was a figure that was agreed upon, unlike Market value, which drops every month/year. I told JustCar about $4k of upgrades, and they increased the agreed value by about $200!!! I complained, saying i want a higher agreed value, and want to pay more premium because i dont want to be underinsured, and the most they could raise it to was $14,250. Has anyone has similar problems with JustCar? I'm thinking of speaking to Shannons for a quote now.

So the rear badges are gold?!!!! Interesting....

Not really, it happened the same day i washed my car at a car wash, but i think that was coincidental. I might trace the wiring from the tail lights back to the front of the car to make sure it hasnt been damaged.

The fuse is under the bonnet, even blows 25amp fuses, so something is trying to suck a lot of current. I've tried to inspect front parker globes, no visual shorts. All help greatly appreciated!

Wow, very lucky! Did the cops go over it for prints?

Where are you staying, and how you getting there? I'm heading up in a couple weeks, was either going to park in Mt Beauty and coach it up, or drive up the mountain - thinkin i'd rather drive for the experience!

Ferodo Ts2000 Formula Pads - Where To Buy
Trav33 replied to Trav33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ended up buying them from ebay seller 'stewie108', very good service. 2 sets cost $323 including postage. I'd recommend him if anyone is looking for Ferodo Formula's and want to save some $$'s. http://myworld.ebay.com.au/stewie108 -
My requirements are : 1. Sound QUALITY 2. Size, smallest enclosure possible to fit into vacant area on top of fuel tank. I was leaning towards 10" just cause i thought it'd need a smaller enclosure?

I was speaking to a cpl coppers last night about the number of skyline thefts occuring at the moment, they told me that within the last 2-3 days they have apprehended a guy and girl who are well known for stealing skylines. I wonder if this will help decrease the current spree? They also said for every high speed chase that makes the news, theres another 20 or more that dont - and there is a phenomonal amount of cars which are dumped and set on fire in their LSA (eliz/salisbury). Such a waste to joyride it, then torch it - dont know what they get out of it?!
-
Sorry to hear that Brin, where was it dumped? Will you get another skyline?
-
What makes you think its headed for SA? I thought most skylines stolen over here are joyrided+burnt, not re-badged and sold?

Attempted Break In Of My R33. Should I Report It To Police?
Trav33 replied to Giveitall's topic in South Australia
Report it! They will be interested to log it, and im sure if there are this many skylines getting stolen, sapol will be aware and assign someone to the job. Any intell they can get will help, including attempted thefts. -
I think i was quoted about $600 for a gsm/sms module upgrade. It's 2-way, and has multiple inputs and outputs which can be controlled by sms.
-
Its a Xenarc 7" LCD Touch, got it from Panda Innovations. Its got enough room underneath, to custom mount a slot-load dvd rom/burner.
-
If your going to get a pager, get an sms module. Much better than the 2-way pagers which are limited to a short distance.

When my 33 was stolen, it was taken about 7am, wonder if its the same tossers

Shitty Series 1 R34 Interior Plastic Paint
Trav33 replied to 666DAN's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Is Tamiya paint safe for UV Light (from the sun), and safe for high temps (cars get up to 70-80 degrees in summer)? I picked up a can of semi-gloss black, but want to know its a good long-term paint before i use it!
