R33 Complete Carbon Fibre Dash
Risking replied to frozenwaffles's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Andrews dash boards are great. They are ridiculously light compared to the cheaper carbon knock offs getting around. The only thing I don't like about them is the high gloss finish. We usually give them a light rub down and a dull polish to take the shiny edge off so the glare is reduced. Expensive as they are there is a fair amount of work that goes into the design and manufacture. I'd imagine they are a slow moving component so to recoupe costs the price needs to be steep. -
It is ridiculous the attendance over there. Being an FIA category they are required to run amount of races internationally but how boring is the racing.

No one is sooking yet It's always been known that supercars would be doing CFD parity testing. I believe from people I speak to regularly that the large teams who have fallen away this year will be the front runners come next year. They have put their best engineers forward into the COtF instead of running current cars Tekno apparently had revised 888 uprights at the 600 and move up the field, still developing an old platform, relying on 888 for their COTF chassis. 888 have concentrated on the title this year, question will be have they sacrificed some COTF development to be at the front in 2012.... No doubt Roland's juggernaut will be at the top of the tree in no time come 2013 but you do wonder if the COTF program suffers at all due to current events. HRT have sucked arse all year, have they shifted focus from 2012 to 2013....... Current VE and FG's are far from bricks. They have very strict splitter angles and undertray designs that must be adhered to. No doubt the Kelly cars will be assisted or hindered depending on CFD results.

I haven't done the conversion from scratch but I've fixed a car that had a bodgy job done of the conversion. We had to trial a couple of diff ratios to get a decent spread. Works okay now the clutch and flywheel issues are sorted.

Your getting all flustered about things that aren't effected by the components you've changed Ackerman is not effected by tie rod length, if the toe is the same as before the pivot points haven't moved. Why did you ask for 0 toe? If its a road going car toe it in a total of 1-2mm depending on your preference. Get a decent alignment on a proper machine, problem will go away

Unfortunately it's wishfull thinking that ex supercar parts are going to be everywhere and cheap next year. The parts are everywhere now with most teams having a small bussiness doing "retail" outleting of used parts, they sell them for what they are worth though Most of the current cars are spoken for as of the last round this year. The buyer of whincups car actually had a re appraisal clause in the sale contract. If the car won bathurst it was re appraised. Wins the championship re appraised. Same for loundes car apparently. A mate of mine has bought the spare GRM VEchassis and is updating from his current one. Alot of parts are spoken for by the DVS runners and also alot of teams will be running cars for their purchasers next year in DVS so the parts are far from redundant. A couple of dramas with the albins transaxles both reliability and accident damage from kerbs etc has shown its head apparently too.

They use the renegade shifters and no ignition cut. They have to lift on gear changes which alot of the time doesn't happen fast enough or long enough. Resulting in broken selectors, engagement rings and the odd gearset

Thanks Ryan. At the moment I've got a couple of cars but nothing that's running. I don't have the time to do anything for myself at the moment so it gets pushed to the back. The R33 has never beenade elligability for 2A. Duncan was trying to get them homologated but I believe racing evidence was difficult to find.

Wiring Up Track Only Car Options
Risking replied to unique1's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
We're doing a Haltech/racepak pdm/dash install at the moment into a lotus exige GT car. They are an affordable option an can use the racepak CAN bus switch pannel to make life even easier -
For a mild rwd engine they will be fine. They don't have a massive torque threshold like others but that's mainly due to the compact size. As a guide the nz touring cars have around 450hp and 600-700nm from memory. The boxes are very reliable behind those engines. The Dubai guys do break them with the sequential shifters but watch some YouTube in car footage and you'll quickly see why they break them. It's no wonder Mal rose wiped the floor clean when he did a round over there.....
-
You won't get one behind a GTR. You've got to remember they are essentially an old top loader box with straight cut dog engagement arrangement. They use a pissy extension housing and external selector linkages. These are in no way comparable to a top shelf PPG or hollinger H pattern box.
-
Renegade don't do a shifter for the r33. They don't do one for the 5 speed Jerico either last time I spoke with them about converting one of the touring cars over They were working on a 6 speed tremec shifter though.
-
Are you after a 4 or 5 speed. I've got a couple of the nz touring car 4 speeds that were removed for hollinger upgrades. 5 speed best to buy from jerico USA. They are extremely helpful and can be contacted by phone

Your looking at $330aud for a complete coil pack loom supplied with new Nissan plugs, braided wiring protection and deutsch connectors for the power and ground supply. (you will just need to cut the Nissan plug off your cars look and solder the deutsch pins on for the power/ground plug) -
Jericos aren't a bad thing. The 4 speed is the controlled box for the new Zealand touring car category & for the v8 Dubai series as well. In the dubai series they run an external sequential shifter that is similar to the ikea shifters, Aussie designed and built too. They have Massive ratio range and their service is rather good.

Dry Sump Plumbing Sizes For Rb26/30 Build......
Risking replied to Ramius83's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The reason we use -12 scavengees is to assist with oil airation and pump cavitation. Use -12. Distance is irrelevant Your aviad pump would have been supplied with -12 inlets and a -16 outlet. Or everyone I've ever bought has been. That's usually a good indication Of what the pump manufacturer would like you to use. -
Time has come to upgrade units so this is for sale Basic features Inbuilt G sensor Beacon lap timing (no GPS) Full data loggin functions CAN communication Warning lights and rpm lights. This is aims top shelf pro series dash which has mil spec deutsch Autosport connectors on the back. It's been used in a V8 supercar untill an upgrade to a motec ADL3 was done. The unit was first installed in 2009 and has done very little work. There is a small "water" mark on the screen but can't be noticed with the back light on. Software is very powerful stuff and can do predictive laps circuit mapping etc etc etc. Located in Sydney Great condition Asking $1500.00 with beacon and lap timing gear

We have done a number of custom GTR engine looms recently to suit specific requirements. Tefzel and tech flex braid with deutsch connectors is not a problem. Raychem shrink can be used if the budget permits. -
