  1. Just changing the crank wont stroke it out to 2.4L, you need to change the pistons, as well as the rods(i think..) Im pretty sure tomei do a kit for that kind of thing, I know it comes with pistons but I think you need to provide the rods for it (RB26 prolly) I'd say a fair bit of work is involved if you have to replace the crank and put new pistons/rods in, will need the head off, as well as, obviously, the sump.
  2. Ok cool, So the ceramic coating on the mild steel i assume is to protect against rust? Another point - how big do you suggest the piping be.. 2.5in 3in? The inlet/outlet on the cooler is 3in. What kind of option do you have if you get stickered for the hole? get it passed by an engineer? cus you can't really replace it...
  3. Okay, Ive got my intercooler mounted, what would you guys recommend for the piping material? Some say SS, others say mild steel, galvanised mild steel, copper, PVC... what do you guys think. Also the piping method that goes through the panel under the battery, is that illegal? cheers
  4. Yeh i dont know if they changed the pulleys too.. I wasn't there to ask specifics, thats just what the car yard guy said to my mate. Either way changing the timing belt and/or pulleys fixed the noise and slight vibration I felt from the timing cover. It is true that they could of changed the pulleys as a preventative measure, as they had just sold the car and promised the noise to be gone when it was due for collection and not said anything about changing them to my mate.
  5. My mate picked his R33 up and after the dude changed the timing belt, the noise i mentioned earlier is gone.. maybe that will solve ur prob... new timing belt good luck mate
  6. In my mates car it is constant when you hold it at those revs. I thought it sounded terrible. At first I thought it was the turbo. I really dont see how just changing the timing belt alone could fix the problem as the guy suggested, im pretty sure he aint touching the gears or idlers. Still waiting for my mate to pick the car up to see if its fixed.. so will let you guys know then, How is urs going R33_Racer
  7. My mate just bought an R33 with the same noise, in about the same rev range, the guy at the dealer was saying that it will go if he changes the timing belt... I personally wouldnt have bought the car, but the guy said he'd fix it. Dont know how just changing the timing belt would get rid of the noise, but when we reved it in that range, we could feel the vibrations coming from the exhaust side of the timing cover, so yeh, could be an idler. I will let you guys know if the noise goes after this guy piss farts around with it. Good luck R33_Racer
  8. This thread has me very interested... How much could I pick up a 2nd hand RB25 turbo for? Will it be laggier? how much more power, or will it require a bit of tuning?..
  9. Yeh the car has a 3" exhaust with a kakimoto end muffler as well as another muffler before that... and an HKS pod, Along with putting the cooler in, I wanna ditch the second muffler, replace with 3" link pipe and have a less restricted exhaust. Will that help with keeping the response after adding the cooler?
  10. We are going to start to release these turbos (variable geometry turbo) at work, they are the bee's knees apparently.. yet to see one in the flesh tho.. expensive too. These will be holset ones i think tho
  11. Im looking at getting a front mount for my R32 GTSt(600X300X76), was wondering what you guys think is the best or 'better' way to mount it and run the piping. Ive seen some people recommend running it back through the original intercooler piping, this seems simple enough BUT the piping length concerns me - will this decrease turbo response? laggy :warning: dont really want that much piping... On the other hand Ive seen the method where the piping is run over the radiator, this seems to use less piping HOWEVER . . all the pics ive seen require the cutting of a large hole.. is this bad for the car, to have a large hole, in what is ( i think - correct me if im wrong) the chassis... makes it less rigid etc.... illegal? Also what would stock boost be on a GTSt and what can the standard ceramic turbo take - providing it has a suitable intercooler I await your opinions...
  12. May need a new quarter, who has one lying around? and how much?
  13. I had a small mishap in my car and now require a Right hand side mirror for my R32... Anyone got one lying around? Preferably in WA.. Need one soon Cheers
  14. Hey bazelinez, what did you replace the spring with and where did u get it? I think I need to replace mine. Also anyone know if I could get the molded hose that runs from the throttle anywhere? I think I will need to replace that in the future.. looked pretty poor The engine manual I got has heaps of stuff to do with CONSULT, not many pics on how to take stuff apart and fix it. Is it the right one? Also as bazelinez said, i'd rather have other peoples opinions on how to fix things, personal experience.
  15. timmy c The air regulator has two bolts holding it to the intake manifiold, get those out and two hoses and connector and your on your way, you can take more hoses off to give yourself more working space as well. eXc's tutorial is good try use that, getting it out was the hardest part. It will require a little patience, but will come out. The screws on the air regulator are tough ones, but I sprayed them with a bit of lubricant and used a quality phillips screwdriver head and just moved it a little at a time, also helps if you push down on the screw to stop it stripping the head, I thought they wouldnt come out, but with a bit of patience(again) they came. If you got anymore questions post away Good luck mate. blackrb20silvia let us know how the pump goes
  16. When you say set, do you mean 2 or 4 coil overs?
  17. I didn't even know you could fill up from the gearstick, sounds handy. I know which bolt he is talking about, its on the side of the gearbox, has about a 1/2 inch lug on it. Well there you go, if filler wont come out, fill from the gearstick.
  18. I did this procedure a little while ago, get around four litres of oil and you will be safe for sure, you will only need about 2.5. You fill until it comes out the filler hole. getting the filler plug could be a prob as u say... maybe take it to a workshop and they could have a peice of metal welded to it to help get it out although could be a bit difficult on a gearbox, other than that im not too sure... sorry there is a guide in here about changing gearbox oil on an R32, try in the tutorial section under user tutorials.
  19. Well the Air regulator is back in and the car idles around 1000 and stays there, no more hunting for me!! I gotta say it was pretty easy and you can't really go wrong with the internals of the regulator, they only go in one way.. I'm happy with the result. eXc your guide was how I started out repairing the valve, great one mate. Cheers
  20. Okay, I disassembled and reassembled my AAC valve, didnt do anything, Im in the process of putting the Air regulator back in, just waiting for gasket goop to dry. I think this might do the trick as the spring wasnt under any tension which would suggest that the plate couldnt move due to being in the incorrect position. I will post later to confirm If it worked
  21. Where is my TPS located, somewhere near the throttle pedal I assume? And how do I go about fixing it? Oh yeh, and what EXACTLY does the air regulator look like, havent looked for it myself yet, too dark out.
  22. It still idles high even when I disconnect it... I admit it does drop, but not a lot and it still idles way too high and now this hunting thing is driving me mad, I will sit at the lights and it will bounce between 1000 and 2000, bloody irritating!!
  23. woozle wazzle
  24. Spew dude. What a rotten bastard
  25. Well my skyline is causing me grief...again. It has very erratic idling, It never idles below 1500, 3000 was my highest. I reset the ecu in an attempt to get it to idle correctly, but that didnt help (unless I did it wrong) I cleaned but didnt disassemble the AAC valve and played with the idle screw for a bit until I thought maybe it would lean the car out and damage it. It drives fine, there are no major problems there, once i use the throttle its good. Help me! Whats wrong with the damn thing!!
