John, from what i remember your defect was from the same guy that defected me, i will PM you the name of the constable in question if you wish to confirm this. For the record i was driving by myself, on a sunday morning, at 50kph when he pulled me over to defect me. I had only owned the car for under 1 month and had done nothing to it since i bought it with a current RWC. I would say that you were unlucky in asking this cop for advice, as he is a bit of a defect whore and has issued notices to many members on this forum. Bottom line is police aren't mechanics or engineers, they dont have to know all the ADRs etc.. they are well within their authority to defect someone purely because they suspect it is defective, then leave it to qld transport to determine if it is or isn't. This law was originally introduced to crack down on old bombs and poorly maintained vehicles but sadly it is now being used on modified cars almost exclusivley. As long as they find something that does not meet ADR rules or qld legislation they are fully justified in issueing the defect notice, no matter how trivial the actual problem is. Heck, i'm sure they could defect you for a set of fluffy dice if they wanted to... Did you actually get fined by the officer or just get issued with a defect notice?

I really never have issues with the police, yes there are a few dickheads out there but that applies to any job.. I got RBT the other night, there was no attitude and i was quickly on my way again. My flatmate is also a newly graduated police officer and some of the crap she has to put up with you wouldn't believe. She also says there are situations where they are allowed to speed without using their lights/ sirens. Yes i have been defected, yes i have been caught speeding, but realistically these times i was breaking the law. I dont think police do a bad job at all, in the end there is very little grey area with the law, youre either within it or not, they are just doing their job, under the directives of politicians and the council that want certain social groups to be targeted and revinue to be raised, they do this by gearing the laws the police have to enforce in such a way, not to mention spoon feeding them only a fraction of the funds they need to properly enforce the law. eg: there aren't many (if any) local police call centres anymore they are all out of state, most local stations aren't staffed properly (again, if at all) after hours etc...

I dont think #1 sounds that bad... that power rating seems ok considering the mods so sounds like a healthy engine, dont write it off yet get it checked out by a mechanic. Only problem is the idea of an auto, dont wanna buy one then regret it later on..

i didn't think it was that bad.. but i noticed none of the owners were around to respond to his comments. Also agree that he probably drives a hyundai.....or his mum
