    Charging would be a band aid solution. You could always buy a centre guage ammeter, you should see a positive charge when the engine is running, if its negative deflection that means the alternator is not providing enough voltage to keep the electrics 'online' hence causing a power drain from the battery... buy a bigger alternator...
