this is such a bad idea. Good luck

It must be slow, my rb20 was poo and that was in a 31 skyline Nice work on attempting something slightly different
-
Still here, just tyre kickers so far

Updated an old for sale ad that already had some pictures in it. Bumping to the top, completely new car now

ive got an RB26 oil pump in mine and ive noticed my oil pressures are COMPLETELY different to what they were with the rb25 pump things are about 20psi lower than before, and after doing some searching i found alot of ppl suffered from the problem of excessive oil pressure. now i am wonder if my old pump was stuffed prior to installing on the motor... either way its runs like a dream and has excellent oil pressure
-
I had this weekend: r33 Rb25det oil pump r33 GTR oil pump r32 GTR oil pump all of them look exactly the same. The only difference being the bolt for the pressure relief

since this thread gets more views than anything else... can RB20 cams be placed into an RB25DET head without any dramas? I wanna get rid of the variable inlet cam and put my HKS inlet cam on it
-
nobody has any info at all?
-
As per title.. If I want to get rid of the VVT (because its welded up on my RB30DET) can I simply buy RB20 cams and put them into the RB25DET head? are there any pitfalls to look out for? Ive been looking at Tomei 256 poncams for RB20, seems like they are the same specs as the Rb25 poncams. I mainly want to get rid of the variable inlet cam gear, and put on my HKS gear. For an RB30 would 256 duration be ok or should i look at longer 264 duration cams?
-
Rb25det head, stock cams, custom work of art exh manifold made by a mate. No idea on RPM, tacho wasnt wired up by the workshop and i havent had the time to find out for myself. My rb20det 5psd used to show as 1:1 in 3rd gear! This is an an HR31 passage, R200 LSD rear end.. i dont know how to work out ratios etc

Now is there anyone with pics of 32 GTR, 33 GTST cranks to see if they have a long or short snout. Surely the oil pumps arent all being drive by such a short crank snout when the gear drive is almost twice as wide love ya work joel
-
Yeah who knows what they did to the car. I just looked at the dyno sheet. No RPM just KPH But it seems to reach peak power at ~160km/h in 4th.. I am with you Joel, Im wondering if the only thing that varies between the RB cranks is the oil pump drive, rather than the actual oil pump itself. Id be interested to see if the R32 RB26 crank has a small crank drive or if it completely engages its oil pump drive... hmm
-
Would be interesting to find out how the collar is installed and if its an at home or workshop only job! peak power is when ever the rev limiter kicks in... when it was at the dyno they told me they took it to 8000rpm and the power was still climbing. this is after i said 7500rpm only. maybe an ATI balancer is on the cards
-
Nah didnt miss a gear. I am starting to think harmonics may have been the key factor in actually cracking the gear in the first place. Im using an RB20DET balancer from an R32. Which ive noticed has a nice chunk of metal taken out of it, which wasnt previously like that. Im considering taking it in for a re-tune once its bolted back together and lowering the rev limit to 7000rpm, was previously 7500rpm and it can hit that limit in the blink of an eye given the opportunity to spin
-
So is there any physical limitations to putting a 33GTR or 34GTR oil pump onto the front of the RB30 short snout?
-
thats some very tidy looking work! is there anyone in QLD who you would reccommend to do this sort of job? and can actuallt do the job! how difficult is it to do whilst the engine is still in the car? once again thats an awesome looking setup you have developed!
-
I heard a loud snap, checked rear view to see if i ran over anything, saw oil pressure wasnt there, shut the engine off, pulled over and waited 1hr for a tow truck to take me home. I was doin 60km/h, down a hill, maybe 1500-2000rpm at the time when it let go. Now after looking at this... are ALL crank snouts too short? or is it just when you fit a twin cam oil pump onto the rb30 crank? Id appreciate it if someone could lay down the short crank snout, crank collars, oil pump problems once and for all so we can add it to the PDF or at least have an article on SAU, after ~2hrs of searching i havent found much info at all.
-
you sure you cant fit these at home? How do they work and how are they fitted? Do they just slide on the crank snout to enlarge the surface area for the oil pump drive?
-
I got a 45mm external gate and i think compression of 9:1 But yeah... Here's what my oil pump now looks like : This is meant to be an Rb25det oil pump, when i took it off i found that it does fully sit on the crank drive properly. So maybe this is where the crank collars come in handy? or is this pump just not an RB25det oil pump? maybe a 33/34 GTR pump :S Either way looks like i need a new one!.. oh yeah.. that inner ring is split in half, cbf hosting the other pic
-
Stocky give us some pics of your setup! As for struggling to make 320rwkw with the GT35/40... BS!! Ive got the GT35R with 0.82 housing and its doing 320rwkw on 16psi , However the GT35R does look a little 'small' in the engine bay these days
-
had a grey 34 GT-t, or maybe it was a 33... following me on Milton Rd this arvo. Didnt get the plates. I waved... kinda. was too busy trying to negotiate the shit road... and shit drivers on the shit road!
-
hahah awesome!! absolute bargain too well done. At least you have a live axel rear end so you should be able to get some even traction/tyre wear. From the power figures its making the same as what mine was and trust me, your going to need bigger tyres what gearbox is in it??

think i drove past predator on Saturday around the Lutwyche area. White HR31
