  1. 33spec. feel much the same. I have made a big fat file and taken digital photos along the way. I think one day I will sell the package to stephen king. then he will have an original horror story.
  2. holy crap, my typing is bad!
  3. yeah, dotto that paul. I should have followed mt insincts instead of my wallet. which is now ironically hurting muh more than if I had folloed my instincts and gone with global.
  4. geoff risbey suggested I get compliance done by global motorworks. I found them to be pleasant and helpful.. but then rang aroung and got some quotes and one was 200 bucks cheaper.....so i took the cheaper quote cause I had no reason not to. anyway, I dont think I need to actually describe the ordeal, suffice to say tha I really should have gone with global. dont know If I could describe the bullshit ive been through without bursting into tears, but I will never go back to that workshop again, and my arsehole feels like its about 5 foot wide.
  5. I know tha the whole thing about importing a car youself is tat its a big hassle, but I cant imagine im the norm. the car itself could only be described as gorgeous, but its been a bad trip to get where Im at, and there is only the promise of more frustration.
  6. gday all. I had nigh on the worst day of m life today.... thanks god its over.... my car is finally in my driveway, albeit in a shambles state. cheers to paul for his offers of help, and to cam for being my sounding board when I nearly had to kill the nasty compliance man.
  7. bloody hell cam! anyone would think you just learnt how to use emoticons.
  8. yeah, that's right cam. I was quoted $x for compliance, with tyres being additional, and now Im being asked to pay for additional works which Im not sure should actually be additionals at all. Hence I just wanted to know what it is that should have been included in "compliance".
  9. so basically, the majority of the work which would be carried out in a 'service' should already be included in the cost of compliance. does anyone know of a government/ADR/dotars list of the work which must be carried out during compliance? I have tried to track one down, but Im having trouble getting anything more than: "this is the work which MAY need to be performed, including.."
  10. no wazzas adam. cheers though.. next question: I read somewhere that it is a customs/quarantine/adr requirement that during compliance, the workshop replaces all fluids (oil, water, radiator, psteering) can anyone confirm or deny?
  11. I cant help but feel that there's a little white nerd with too much time on his hands sitting in front of a computer somewhere laughing his arse off...
  12. aargh! thanks anyway adam. $30 from marlows. got a slimline 'strip' one so that between the rear wiper and the I can actually see out my back window.
  13. hmm.. my typing si not very godd..
  14. thanks radium. I assume these are not too dificult to source. Will go to marows on sunday and see what I can see.
  15. second of all, does anyone know anything about the ADR / road rego requirements for having a rear brake light installed on the vehicle spoiler. I would be keen to NOT put back on the original factory spoiler, but have been advised that I will not get it over the pits without it. I do have a rear wiper, and am wondering whether it would be feasible to remove this and install a back-shelf brake light in it's place. edit: typo
  16. A couple of semi-unrelated questions which I have attempted to wrap into one thread for the sake of verbosity. My car has arrived with the door trims removed and put loose inside the car. The company doing my compliance seems to think think this is a big deal.. So I asked the nice man, why it matters since they have to take the door trims off anyway to weld in the side intrusion bars. Only he then says: "we dont need to do that on skylines older than 1992". Can anyone confirm this information? am I paranoid or is he jerking me aboot? I havent even taken possession of this thing, but my experience living vicariously through mates motors has led me to beleive that everyone who does work on jap performance cars is a bit dodgy - and this seems to contradict advice I have previously received.
  17. reading this thread is like trying to figure out the the babelfish translation from Kaizousha.com Quick buyer win!
  18. Reckon its a pity that more SAU people wont be reprezenting.. Campbell and I will be there. Apparently the price of oil fell again overnight. The fuel companies should drop their prices today under threat of investigation by alan fels.
  19. better seats not only support you more in the case of an accident - whiplash etc, but also reduce the risk of you having a prang because you (the driver) get thrown around less. nice seats are number 1!
  20. they can trim out foam and build new springs and all sorts of stuff. My associate is getting steel support rods put in around the shoulders for high speed cornering. (which is funny, cause he drives like a nanna)
  21. Boostzor, mate of mine is currently getting his S13 seats rebuilt and apholstered for around 500 dollars. He searched around a fair bit - and the guy is going to shape them into buckets. Not a bad way to go if you have existing seats, even if theyre clapped out. what you pay for the retrim you will make up again in avoiding new seat rails.
  22. I am going to be chasing new tyres on all corners soon. someone recommended 'sematoma's (sp?) @ about $210 a corner as a very good cheap tyre. Has anyone heard of / used these? Any good?
  23. ok. so its more an issue about slowing down the process as a whole than an objection to your particular customers having access to information about the plate.
  24. just out of interest, why is that?
  25. haha. fastest bucket of $hit in the galaxy
