Hi guys, I have an R34 GTT with Xenon HID Headlights. Just wondering if anyone can tell if it's possible to simply pull out the Xenon HID globes and replace them with something legal? Or perhaps it will require a lot more modification? Just wanted to find out if anyone knows before I start dismantling my headlights. Appreciated.

Thanks 342four. I'm thinking of leaving the pod and fmic and submit them in the application for mods and hope for the best. Getting the fmic out will be a pain. The pod is secured already but they still requested application for it. Hopefully the fmic and pod won't need to be engineered.

Does anyone know if trailing arms and camber arms the same thing? I know I have aftermarket rear camber arms. I have no idea what the trailing arms are.
-
Hey thanks grant, I will definitely contact you when I need some advice.

I rang an engineer from the list, he seemed confused as to why I have to get at engineers certificate for things like, castor rods, trailing arms etc, which were parts that were replacing worn versions, not an upgrade.
-
I'm actually going to back in and question them re: the coilovers, caster rods etc. I had these parts added to the car to replace broken stock parts. Not sure why they need an engineering certificate for those.

Hi guys, I had my R34 over the pits today and got reamed by an inspector who obviously did not get laid the night before. As a result I have an inspection list with "VSS App required" next to a few items, including coilovers, intercooler, pod filter, trailing arms, castor rods and steering box/rack. What is the correct proceedure to get these accepted? Do I have to fill out the Modification Application first, then get engineering certificates? Or do I get engineering certificates straight away? I'm confused, and the rude inspector walked away without allowing me to ask any questions

Hmm well it is closest so I might have to risk it. Will go early in the morning first thing as they don't take bookings? -

Mate, may I ask which pits you have been dealing with? I just got a yellow for dark tint and would like to avoid the scumbags who have been giving you grief. -
I'm running out of time to get parts so I am thinking of taking the car over the pits with removed tinting but leaving on BC adjustable coilovers (raised height), GTR rims and mismatched tyres 235 front and 265 rear. Added stock BOV and airbox and will be making sure car is clean and tidy. Crossing fingers I get someone good at Welshpool pits - tinting is the only think to be checked but I'm sure if I get an asshole they will check everything. Anyone else passed with similar mods?

High Pitched Squeal On High Rpm / Boost
Everlong-S13 replied to Everlong-S13's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'll let you know guys, I'm not going any further than tightening bolts, cars going into a place for a tune next week so hopefully they can find the problem, and it doesn't stop them from being able to install a Nistune. -
High Pitched Squeal On High Rpm / Boost

Thanks mate, classic noob stuff right there. Took the heat shield off so fast forgot where the bolt that held it on was. I will have a closer look at the bolts you were saying however most of the bolts I checked were already tight. -
Hi guys, I know this has been discussed in a few thread before, I'd just like some help identifying something. Occassionally I get a high pitched squeal or whine from somewhere under the bonnet, hardly happens, I found downshifting into third or second and giving the car a bit of juice in high rev (3500 - 4000 rpm) and full boost makes the noise last for a second or so. It's quite hard to replicate. Anyway from a few threads I have read people are recommending checking the turbo exhaust manifold etc for loose bolts and such. I've taken off the turbo heat shield and not sure what to check. Most of the bolts were pretty tight already, I did notice that there was a bolt missing on the manifold and I'm not sure if there was an existing bolt there or not? Anyway I half screwed in a bolt in there to see, took the car for a spin, couldn't get the car to re-create the noise however I didn't notice a small chirp in second gear that may have been it starting. Anyway, see the pic below. Is there anything in the pic I need to check, and should there be a bolt in the spot I marked?

Hi all, Just got my first yellow for dark tint on my R34 GTT and want the car to pass the pits first time. I was wondering if anyone was able to lend me the following for a few days: Stock R34 suspension (shocks/springs) Stock R34 wheels with tread if possible Stock R34 BOV Stock R34 airbox I would gladly shout anyone a carton of booze of 2 of their choice and/or cash for any help on these. Thanks heaps! Brett

I'd like to hear from someone who had a turbo fail and could prove it was a direct result of over flutter.
-
This topic comes up once every couple of weeks, use the search function. People are usually divided when it comes to whether turbo flutter is bad or not. Some people have been running fluttering turbo's for many years with no problem, others blow turbo's and quickly blame turbo flutter when it could have been many other reasons. This is just my personal opinion, I have had a slight flutter on my ceramic turbo R34 at 12psi for 4 years now with no problem at all. I have read recently the smaller turbo's don't have the surface area that back pressure can damage as easy as larger turbos as the larger blades would be more susceptible to shear forces, but then others say the flutter in smaller turbos is dangerous. Whatever.

Thanks guys appreciate the response.

I thought so. Thanks for the reply mate. Nistunes are upwards of $1000. Is there anything cheaper or is that really the best option?
-
Hey all, I've done a forum search but didn't really get a definite answer. Basically, I've got a 98 R34 GTT with base level mods: Pod filter, exhaust, FMIC and boost increase to 12psi (stock turbo). I'm still running the stock ECU. Is it necessary to upgrade the ECU for such base level mods to get the best performance, or possible to retune the stock one? I do not plan to upgrade the car any more. Much appreciated.

Hey mate is it too much trouble to get a picture of one of the fenders? I just need to make sure it matches mine, otherwise I am interested. Thanks.

Oh damn! I was about to call Zacka for a service. I might give Hyperdrive a call.

I have a WHITE R34 GTT wingless boot lid with no holes. I want a winged boot lid on the same colour, wondering if theres anyone out there with a white R34 who wants a wingless look to trade me. I believe it's a fair deal as wingless boots are rarer than winged. My boot is in good condition - the key barrel was a little loose at one stage so I had to glue it back in - we would replace both key barrels in a swap. If no interest I'll post again in a years time and see then.
