  1. how about boost controller and power fc? i think that would get u probably somewhere near that mark.
  2. i'm not too sure about that. you'd have to get it checked out by a proper mechanic cos the stats are for a 2 litre block and you're obviously a 2.4 litre. you'd be better off putting the car with a good mechanic and getting the thing sorted. gives you peace of mind as well. btw r u really in okinawa? if u're in japan, i dun think locating a mechanic would be a problem.
  3. get a pair of hks adjustable cam gears. the tapping sound would most probably be valves on pistons. i dun think there'd be any damage if u didn't drive hard. but would get it checked out anyway. correct me if i'm wrong but i think u'd need a set of valve springs and retainers for those cams to be on the safe side.
  4. yea i get all my work done there. they do a real good job. plus u always see exotic cars in there, so i always look forward to going there.
  5. what are the coppers doing? reading forums to defect ppl? they should be catching these people. sad to hear man bout the car man, but idiots like these are around.
  6. the 180 will be a better car to drift in, seeing as the silvia's chasis is preferred by most japanese guys who are starting to learn how to drift. it all really depends on what you want the car for and how much you wanna spend for/on it.
  7. exactly my thoughts. i was thinking heel toe was for entry to stop the car from jerking due to the downshifts. i was wondering how he was gonna control his car with the clutch in...seems like if someone tries out these techniques they might write off their car.
  8. i wasn't saying i wanted one. i was just saying now i know how they did it. mine has little flames coming out in the past when i didn't run a cat, but i've just put one in so there's no more flames.
  9. after years of pondering and looking i have finally found how to do it the Jap way. have a look at www.takakaira.com. they're selling a system which reroutes the fuel dump to the exhaust when u hit the rev limiter, thus making big flames come out. i used to think the flames were from anti-lag system(in wrc cars), but i think those flames are not as big as these. and guess what car they use for the demo? GT-R 32!!
  10. hey guys, i came across this website that says drifting is the fastest way through a corner, as opposed to proper entry, apex and exit. i think it's all a load of bull, cept for the drift techniques, which he probably ripped off from some other website. he also says heel and toe is not for corner entry, rather it is used IN the corner to hold the line and for exit speed. have a read and tell me what u think. www.geocities.com/go2iddrift
  11. yes that's wat i was saying. ats carbon clutches will last longer than any clutch out there now. pricey tho. i can get prices for ppl interested as i have a mate who's a distributor in sg. can get at pretty reasonable prices. got my hks twin for 2100, brand new.
  12. the exhaust on a turbo should be as free-flowing as possible for obvious reasons. we do not rely on back-pressure in the system like the n.a. cars which is why the n1 systems from apexi and such are just really a straight pipe from the cat back. high flow cat would free up air flow, as would no cat. but i'm guessing u wouldn't wanna run without a cat. n less mufflers = less restriction + lighter = faster car.
  13. isn't it also called a screamer? and isn't that illegal? but it sounds good when on boost...
  14. how much does he want to pay for a power fc? i can get it for him if he needs it.
  15. yea that's wat my tuner told me as well. work out a projected hp figure you want to make and then work to that. otherwise u'll just spend money for nothing finding you'll have to upgrade very soon. what i do is usually over-do it. so in the event that i have to upgrade anything i find that most of my parts are sufficient to handle it.
  16. the courses in the cartoon are real. the mountains are real. even the drift action was drawn from analysing dorikin tsuchiya keiichi drift his ae86. another thing i'd like to clear. the jap boys aren't mostly like takumi. in fact they're more like the takahashi brothers who own rx7s. i can confirm that different places in japan are owned by different makes of cars (e.g. toyota supra, nissan skyline, etc) who claim ownership over the mountain passes. and at nite, only those boys come out to play. anything under 600bhp cannot be found in the street drags and/or mountain passes at night. these boys are rich arse people and are living where the cutting edge of aftermarket japanese motorsports conduct their business, which makes their pursuit for the ultimate in machine power and control so much easier, not to mention cheaper.
  17. if u had a bit more money i'd think an os giken twin plate would do the job. should be good for 750hp. dun get the hks one tho...i've got that and there's no play in it. i either spin the wheels or just stall the car everytime i take the car for a drive. i think that ats (active torque services. jap company) also make very good clutches. in fact that's all they do, make clutches. so go check that out, i'm not too sure what they cost, but they've got a carbon clutch that lasts longer than anything u can get in the market at the moment.
  18. hey guys i had the same experience. i have fried 2 clutches and have recently put in a hks twin plate. not good unless it's a track car. there's no play in the clutch. it just bites n launches so u either jump off or ur engine dies. anyways, 1st time was when i tried to ride the clutch doing a launch and the clutch kept on burning for days until it just gave up. after that i put in a modified clutch plate which also died when i "fanned" the clutch after a s**t launch, something i used to do in n.a. cars to get it to pick up but not advisable for turbos. but anyways, what i heard is that if the clutch has been burnt it's not going to work the same anymore. it's just always gonna keep burning till it dies so i'd change that clutch before u get stranded on the highway.
  19. i think the engine sits on the cross member thing that's y u have to pull the whole engine out. got quoted 1k just to get the engine out...not a cheap exercise. another thing, would it be ok if i didn't flog my car around the corners as hard? just wanna get some track time in n if the track work starts getting serious then i'd put the sump in. is that risky?
  20. hmm...any idea how much the sump will cost?
  21. hey guys need some help on this subject. i'm planning to take my car onto the track sometime in the near future but have heard from people that the gtr's oil sump is not up to the job. they told me that the gs i pull on the track would starve a part of the engine of oil thus resulting in a blown engine, possibly with piston coming out of side of block. pls advice if this is true. and if it is true, what can i do to rectify this, other than changing the sump? thanks.
  22. to get serious turbo action from that car u'd have to look at lowering the compression in your engine to see serious boost levels, which would mean pistons and gasket. get nismo ones. and then to optimise ur turbo, i'm thinking hks 2830, which is one big turbo, u'd need camshafts, get hks ones, which would mean u'd have to change ur valve springs and retainers, possibly valves as well becos ur ones wouldn't be made to flow turbos. and then u'd have to change ur exhaust system completely to accomodate the turbo. don't forget cam gears. u'd need a good front mount to cool down the air too, hks or nismo items do the job well, as will trust items. don't forget u'd need an improved fuel delivery system as well. injectors, fuel pump better fuel rail and the works. by then u'd want a serious management system to maximise fuel efficiency, so u'd be looking at probably power fc or motec. and to put that power down properly, u'd want serious wheels like volks 18 inch rims and good tyres. of course u'd wanna stop, which would mean brakes upgrade. and u'd probably need a new twin plate clutch to handle that power, not to mention ur driveshaft, which isn't made to handle the projected 600bhp. u'll probably be looking at over 70 grand worth of parts, which doesn't include labour. so my advice would be to take that 80 grand or so and buy a gtr.
  23. drags...try sub zero on the coast
