after what ive experienced i gave up hope keeping a legal car, i built a legal car, i painted it and had it clean, within a few days of driving i had a defect, within another few weeks i had a 2nd one, all the stuff i was defected for was legal and passed regency. so i came to the conclusion that if they want to defect u, they will defect u. hence my car is a utter pig atm and i dont give a shit, ive been driving the thing around like this for the longest period this year without a defect. my car has seen around 2-3 months driving this year and has collected a nice 3 defects for my efforts. i have no faith in the defect system anymore so for all i care ill drive around with a straight through exhaust and the thing on its balls, hell maybe ill even have some tyres on the canvas, because i know regardless im going to end up with a nice yellow sticker on the window.

Million Dollar Driver Challenge
nisskid replied to MissJuz's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
yeh i know what u mean, i couldnt swallow the concept when i first read it, my thought was it was either a scam or there was a big hidden catch. have to say, it was never the most credible scam, nothing really seemed to add up. that's life i guess. -
skids, beer and vagina.

costs me $3, $1 for soap spray, $1 for brush (use it for a few minutes after its finished tho) and $1 for rinse. do it like once a month, hard to keep a matte finish looking clean.

some things i will never understand lol

guys, if this neil character is persistantly abusing power, and if there are formal complaints lodged, then it might be possible to take it further. i think its pretty simple tho, dont go to the pt adelaide cop shop, i know my cop shops around my area and i chose which one i go to wisely based on my experiences. if there's no legal documentation saying you have to report ur car to a certain place, then the worst they can do is come to ur house. what id do is take ur car to a cop shop of ur choice (not pt adelaide station), most officers you get are reasonable and will do their job properly.
-
yeh its a grey area, a lot of people tell me that they are illegal, but they aren't, probably depends on the inspector, but ive passed a few times now, in fact one actually talked about them saying its better rose joint than the stock rubber ones as they wear out real quick, not 100% correct but i was happy to go along with it. if you get denied for them, ask to see someone else and say uve been through before with them, in a nice and respectable way of course. just say that u understand its a grey area but that you have been told that as long as they arent the grease nipple type, they are legal and that u have been passed with them before.

lol that's gotta suck, i picked up a pair of some basically brand new 245/50 R16 RE-01's a month or 2 back for about $50, came with 16x8.5 rims too, not to mention another pair of 16x7.5 rims with some crappy dunlops on them. i thought it was a pretty good deal, but yes ur right, they f**king hold like nobody's business. id be getting a quote from tirerack for the dunlops or even the RE-01's, it wouldnt surprise me if u can bring in tyres independently for less than what a tyre shop charges.
-
im not sure, but if u look at cop shows, people are being recorded without their knowledge, even if their identity is protected, it seems the actual act isnt illegal. saying that, i think using the recording as evidence is where ud run into issues. youtube ftw tho, name and shame.

one word, suspicion, the key to the cops powers. lol, i might be missing something, but when has a cop ever needed a reason to pull you over? most of my defects have been from a cop randomly pulling me over, no reason etc, they just see me, chuck a U-bolt or whatever and chase me, put the lights on and pull me over. turbo timers are illegal, whether its part of ur alarm system or whatever, anything that allows the car to run without keys in the ignition. as far as searching, i think they need either a warrant or "reasonable suspicion", dont know what the guidelines around it are tho. so just to confirm, this knob jockey, was he the neil bloke mentioned in this thread? nah, caster rods are legal, pretty sure rose joints are allowed, but they cannot be the grease nipple kind (which im pretty sure not many are), ive been through rose jointed caster rods a few times now. you would get defected for illegal bonnet modifications ADR's and defect laws are different, sure the guidelines are the same, but the way in the defect is dealt with is completely different, in this sense SA is behind the times, big time.

chef that wasnt u on springbank rd around 12ish was it?

Dunlop Direzza, stupidly cheap for what they are, better than the equivilent potenza (RE-O1R), and cheaper too. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...rt+Z1+Star+Spec will have to import from the US, but still works out cheaper.

honestly, i would have no issues taking those designers out the back and drowning them. how could they go so wrong with 80% of those designs?

hey, got a standard LSD centre out of a R32, will fit all cars that take R200 diff, ratio may vary tho. i noticed a slight whine when it was in, but i have the exact same whine with my new diff in so it may just be gearbox. either way it was extremely slight and only noticed it on occasions, and it wasnt enough to annoy me. i can put a extra shim in it as well for an extra $40. Diff centre with standard shim: $80 Diff centre with shim size of you're choice: $120 located in SA, can post anywhere in Aus for about $20 id say (will have to check)
