  3. ever stop too think it may have been something your mate did when he build the motor did he check for bearing crush to check the clearances did he check piston to bore measurement did he check ring gaps does he own his own micrometers and verniers has his torque wrench ever been checked for accuracy . there is lot more to building a engine than putting the parts in . thats what you pay a engine builder for your paying for there knowledge and experience as well as there time cheers dean
  4. i built a speedway motor yrs ago all brand new stuff fired it up on a engine dyno and was running sweet after giving it a few pull up and down the rev range we deicded the cam had been run in enough so we give it too her what followed was a almighty bang a lot of steam and smoke and half a brand new cracktested carrillio rod hanging out the side of the block . tuners fault nope all a ratio mixtures was good motor run sweet during the run in period this was just a faulty conrod that let go even tho it had been crack tested . sometimes shit just happens
  5. i can vouch for the clutches madaz gets we put one behind one of our cars 270 kw and it copped a flogging for the 2 yrs we had the car after that as far as i know that clutch is still in that car . cheers dean

  9. i just finished building a 308 for a race car your a week too late ,have another 308 thats almost finished as well for my own race car on the stand but im not in a rush just yet to put the heads on that one . what side of town ru on ? cheers dean

  13. try again lol i know its not tarmac but here is a pic of my dirt circuit chassis and engine build so far. chassis runs quickchange rear end and full coilover plus 5th are suspension set up i have a ve commadore body to go over the chassis and the motor is a 308 with lots of goodies . i know its not a skyline or even a turbo lol so dont flame me :-) ah got it cheers all

  16. my car also cam fitted with a alarm when i bought it but on the remote was the companys name that fitted it so i rang them and they assured me all there alarms met aust insurence needs so when i insured it i passed that info to the insurence company and were happy with that . as for so many getting pinched we have the gang of 49 i reckon there responsable for a lot of them
  17. i hope the insurence will pay out i was pretty sure no alarm fitted no payout if it got pinched ? i may be wrong tho
  18. you can legally sell a defected cars to the wreckers . you can legally sell a defected car if it's not going back on the road . and we all the know the po.po aint right all the time every time :-)
  19. of course you can otherwise wreckers would be empty it can be sold to make a track car or to be parted out . ive bought a defected car and had the defect removed and the rego changed over with the old owners help . nothing is impossaible

  22. i use a old el falcon wagon on gas and ive towed my 18 ft boat and race car all over the place with it . i have had patrols to big for a dailey and not used enough for a dedicated tow car. the old falcon wagon does a mighty job of it and there cheap as chips lol

  25. i have thousands of dollars of snap on tools that have seen many hrs on the workshop floor and i cant say Ive seen to many failures they feel nice in the hands and are comfy too hold . we did have a faulty snap on rattle gun that was replaced no questions asked once we showed the rep what it was doing when used . i also have a sidchrome wall cabinet full of spanners and sockets that i bought when i was 18 I'm 51 now and there hanging in strong . buy quality tools and not the crap from bunnings and you will get many yrs of good use out of them . cheers dean
