  1. Hey Guys, my R33 is almost due for its 65,000kms service and im just trying to decide which Oil and oil filter to use... I have read that Nissan recommends a 10W40 viscosity... And found that Castrol have a new synthetic oil called Castrol EDGE and is specialised in high RPM engines... As for oil filter im currently using a Cooper... nothing special but seems to work fine... Any recommendations as to what type & brand of Oil and Oil filter I should use to give me smoother performance?? Cheers, Sarkis
  2. Ok lets have a look here.. the x-force exhaust is about $600 excluding a CAT.... another $200 for a half decent CAT and another $100 - $200 for fitting... so approx $1000 for a bolt on cheapish system... Personally you could spend approx the same kind of money you can get an exhaust shop to custom make a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, high quality dump and high-flowing CAT and you can also angle the cannon the way you want it... get 2 years warranty and is MUCH better quality... thats my 2 cents... If your in the sydney area i will be more then happy to help anyone with getting them a great deal on a custom exhaust system from liverpool exhausts... what have you got to lose?? let me know if your intrested.. Regards, Sarkis
  3. Hey Arkon, The only thing that might need modifying would be the flange on the split dump.. i have seen an R33 in the workshop with a Garret T04 high-flow running 25psi with the same split dump i used and the flange was modified to fit the turbo housing... and it worked a treat on the dyno... The only time the dump pipe will have to be remade is you put a high mount manifold.... otherwise if the standard manifold is used, the same dump can be used... hope that answered your question... Regards, Sarkis
  4. Yes... both Dump pipes were tested with full 3" exhaust and highflow CAT... however the first dyno run was completely stock except for the 3" front pipe that came with the car from japan so most likely if i had a 2" front pipe too it would of been around the 140rw/kw stock therefore approx 24rw/kw increase from the split n full 3" setup. But due to the 3" front pipe the car made 144rw/kw stock.. Just a note: My split dump pipe and front pipe are one piece same as the pictures posted... In regards to the price, every car will vary depending if you want HPC coating, mildsteel/stainless, type of CAT, type of muffler/cannon.. If you contact Jimmy at Liverpool Exhaust and tell him Sarkis sent you, he will package an exhaust set up and will look after you price wise... Regards, Sarkis
  5. Hey guys, most of you have the right idea about the split dump, most importantly, the drop in kw on the dyno was only between 6500 - 7000 RPM this was due to the stock cams. i have since reset my ECU and it feels even better on top end. BHDave: its a full 3" system with high-flow CAT... read the original post for full details... If anyone is intrested in this setup... for R32, R33 and R34 contact Jimmy at Liverpool exhausts.... tell him Sarkis sent you.. and for the Dyno and ECU tuning contact Adam at Just Engine Managment.. These guys are the best of the best and look after their customers! www.justenginemanagement.com www.liverpoolexhaust.com.au There both located in moorebank NSW Regards, Sarkis
  6. Just a reply to a few of your quires: jnr32r: The wastegate split was made 40cm long. Cubes: If you read the dyno graph the single 3" Dump was tested compared to the split dump. I appretiate your compliments on my car, thats how i love my cars too... simple yet eye catching... classy yet sleek... R33_Series2Lover: The higher flow of the CAT the better especially for turbos! my car didnt run rich or lean... the flow was perfect. Cerbera: sorry i dont have a pic of the split.. its a replica of the C.E.S Split... and No, the single 3" dump is not better for performance than the split... on the dyno the single 3" dump lost 2kw on bottom end! From experiance the split works wonders, other wise all major racing exhaust manufacturers wouldn't swear by it! Im just sharing my experiance with you guys hoping to help you out.. and the split dump really works! the Dyno graph is the proof! When driving revs pick up MUCH faster then the single 3" dump... acceleration is GREATLY improved... you feel the car just want to pickup and go! Feel free to ask me any questions.. Regards, Sarkis
  7. Hey guys, here is the specs of my car: '96 R33 GTS-t Stock ECU Stock Turbo Stock intercooler Stock Exhaust (2") (3" front pipe which came on the car) Stock Dump pipe Stock CAT Stock Boost We put it on the dyno and produced 144.3rw/kw... We then took it back to the work shop and fitted a single 3" dump, CATCO 702cfm CAT, 3" mandrel bend exhaust with 6" cannon... We went back on the dyno to have increased to 154.6rw/kw (10rw/kw gain) Back on the hoist and got the boys to custom build a split dump with a 40cm waist-gate pipe and sperating tounge as similar specs to the one made by C.E.S... We went back on the dyno to have increased to 164.6rw/kw (another 10rw/kw gain) As results may vary from car to car... However the dyno proves that the split dump pipe is worth every cent!!!! The increase in power is VERY noticable when driving... and can be felt through out the rev range... Here is the dyno for proof! Regards, Sarkis
  8. Hey guys, i just got back from my local exhaust shop and im having the same issue, wether to get a 1 piece 3" dump or split dump which begins as 2 1/2" then to 3"?? would there be any power gain advantages with the split? cause i heard they reduce tubulance when the waste-gate opens up.. what you guys reckon?? Here are some pics to give you an idea.. 1 Piece Dump Split Dump
  9. hahaha well if you had any rare vintage like a 350GT Mustang... it would appretiate 5 - 10Gs value every year! At the end of the day we are driving almost 10yr old cars, these things are expected to happen and its better to fix them properly 1st time round so they last longer... Nissan do build one of the best sports cars in the world! Regards, Sarkis
  10. When my R33's coils began to play up, i only noticed misfiring after the car got hot (30min of driving) but i never had a problem with starting it... and there was a misfire through out the rev range especially around 4000rpm.. Theres a thread in the DIY forum on changing spark plugs in a R33... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...19&hl=R33+spark have a look at the thread and follow the instructions on removing your coil packs, check them for any hair line cracks (causes misfiring) a high quality duct tape can be used to tape up the cracks which will help them work better for a period of time... if this helps then you need new packs and their not cheap... also with my R33 i found i had a fowled up spark plug (due to the faulty coil packs) also caused misfiring... so check plugs and coil pack... if all looks fine then its something else... you problem sounds either fuel or electrical related... Check the following: 1. Spark plugs 2. Coil packs 3. Fuel pump (can you hear it when accesories is turned on?) 4. Injectors (run high quality injector cleaner with full tank of premium) 5. Air flow Meter (make sure sensor wire is clean and dirt free) I hope this helps! Tell us how you go... Regards, Sarkis
  11. Hey Deanzzz, i know for a fact in the R33's and safe to say in the R32's too that the ECU uses the plum back pressure to regulate a/f ratio... now when the BOV vents the pressure into the atmosphere the ECU goes nuts causing an imbalance in air/fuel ratio hence stalling... the safest and best way is to use an adjustable plum back BOV such as the GFB Stealth.. these can be adjusted to how much pressure is atmospherically vented and how much is plummed back.. unless you change the ECU and update the AFM to a map sensor, ur greddy BOV will continue to give you the same problem! personally i think the standard BOV is the best upto 12psi - 14psi.. if you want sound.. a stock BOV + POD filter + FMIC will make enough noise to turn heads!!! Just a thought.... but if u really want that loud Ptssshhhh... get a GFB Stealth... Regards, Sarkis
  12. Hey cordiapower, where did you buy ur el dials from and how much??? thanks Sarkis
  13. Yea i knew i should upgrade the exhaust system... but what kind of power gains should i expect with the full exhaust and K&N air filter??? has anyone dynoed their stock R33 before and after exhaust?? sarkis
  14. while my car was on the hoist getting the oil changed, i noticed that from the stock dump-pipe i had a 3" stainless steel front pipe going in to a pissy little compliance cat (size of a bread roll) then 2 1/4" piping into another centre muffler then into the back muffler.... im assuming that the exhaust was changed cat back for compliancing... but you guys think cause of the cat n mufflers that it would be restrictive?? would a full 3" system make a difference in performance? what are your suggestions? thanks for your input guys Sarkis
  15. Is the car blowing any smoke?? if not you might have a leak in your IC plumming again... while the car is on idle open the bonet and listen for any 'hissing'... if ur clutch is gone it will slip its nut off and smell like shit.. you will deffinatly notice it! let us know wat happens good luck
  16. The EPA regulations in Japan are different to here... after certain km's cars are auctioned off overseas (i know this cause i contacted an importer in Toykyo, Japan myself via email) it is possible to get an R33 with 50 - 70K's but you have to know where your buying from... i been to the docks and seen fresh R33 imports with 60K's and even '98 R34's with 17 - 25k's so a 96 R33 with 50K is possible.. although ur right alot of shonky yards do wind the clock back but its obvious wen you see a R32 or R33 with worn out interior... over all poor condtion with 60K on the clock... if you know what to look out for you can tell! And considering i had a full inspection on the car and scoring 95% as well as having my mechanic run an inspection on O2 sensor, timming belt, chasis.. etc the car is in absolutle immaculate condition! The guys at japlink are not pushy at all... i went there 6 or 7 times and test drove about 4 different skylines untill i made my choice and even after purchase i was looked after for servicing among other things... at the end of the day all yards have to pay rent, wages and they need an income too.. but from all the other yards i been to (bout 10 of them) Japlink gave me the best deal and service! wont hurt to go and see them... talk to Sam Regards Sarkis
  17. Hey mark.. when you say standard, how standard?? cause i have read that R33's run about 140rwkw stock (7psi).. im just curious (QRI05E) if ONLY 5 psi of extra boost have given you 35rwkw?? or you have a 3" exhaust and pod aswell??? Oh yes, and to help answer the topic question... i have seen R33 GTSt's fitted with an R32 GTSt WG acutator which are set to 10psi from factory therefore no bleed valve required!!! maybe your friends R33 has one fitted?? Regards, Sarkis
  18. Are you still running a AFM or Map sensor? cause if your running an AFM its recommended you use a plum-back BOV otherwise when the pressure is released into the atmosphere the ECU will think theres a loss of Oxygen therefore increases the fuel hence flooding the motor... have a look at the GFB (Go Fast Bits) Stealth... i have seen them run upto 25psi in skylines and you can adjust how much you want to vent into the atmosphere and how much you want to plum-back into the manifold... Hope this helps... Regards, Sarkis
  19. Guys, i picked up my "Micky Mouse" condition R33 series II with genuine 50K from Japlink motors on parramatta rd and i have to say they have the best service at excellent prices! MTA approved too... they specialise in R32, R33 & R34 Skylines, 300zx's as well as GTiR's and Toyota Chasers... Ask for Sam, and tell him Sarkis with the silver R33 recommended you... you will be looked after! contact details: 02-97160857 Japlink have their own workshop and compliancing unlike most other 'shonky' car yards... all cars come with 3 months warranty as well as extentended warranty if needed... Regards, Sarkis
  20. Yea im going to contact castle hill exhaust tomorrow for a quote... Liverpool exhausts quoted me $900 turbo to tip, but a few people have told me their welding is shit... has any one experianced this?? i dun mind spending few extra $$$ just as long as i get a good clean job and noticable power increase... thanks guys
  21. where did you get it fitted and how much??? was it $1200 including cat?? cheers
  22. Yea well i only just noticed it... i bought the wheels brand new bout 3 months ago.. im taking it back to the place i bought it from... thanks daniel
  23. As i was washing my car, i noticed a stange discolouration on my front driverside rim.... its a black line that only goes a quarter around the rim.. i tryed cutting compound, polish, tyre shine... you name it! Nothing seems to work... what you guys think its from??? any suggestion? Thanks
  24. Hey guys, im looking for a good exhaust shop in sydney! any recommendations for R33 GTSt? What places have you guys got your exhaust custom made and prices?? Thanks alot guys...
  25. Well here it is guys... its time to take the first step with my stock R33 SII GTSt... Now here are a few Q's 1. FMIC or SMIC??? I have heard that a Side Mount Intercooler with thicker core will be good enough for 10 - 14psi and will fit on original plumbing as well as minimise lag.. wat you guys reckon? 2. I have been quoted $900 for a full 3" mild steel exhaust system including Hi Flow cat and custom duel dump pipe (with seperate wastegate vent) is that a good price? 3. What you guys think of Liverpool Exhausts in sydney??? is there any other exhaust places you guys recommend for quality in sydney?? Ill appretiate any help!!! Thanks Regards, Sarkis
