Just curious why u ask whether I have standard ecu or not. Can't the standard ECU's use map sensors? Its stock as a rock so Im guessing it still has Afm.
-
Stephen do you know if they are r32 gtst halfcuts?
-
Damn looks like it is aftermarket. I was hoping I can pick one up cheap from the wreckers but seems like it may be harder to find. It was this: http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/product_im...roduct-1029.jpg(3 bar map sensor - im guessing it came with my apexi avcr-older model).
-
Thanks for the replies. I should make it clear that Im after a half cut to pick off bits and pieces, as opposed to buying a half full half cut.
-
Anyone seen many half cuts around? If so which wreckers. Cheers.

For u r32 owners would u mind letting me know what the brand and part no of ur factory map sensor loom plug is. (The vacuum hose connects to this part). I am trying to figure out if mine is after market or factory. Cheers

All, Just got a r32 gtst and I suspect its been sitting around for a while in Japan. I'm In the process of doing a checkup and changing all the necessary things to get it back in A1 condition. I have booked it for a service this weekend and just compiling a list of things I want done/checked, for peace of mind. I "have" changed the engine oil and filter and atm this is the current list of items i want the mech to work through this weekend:(Also I have done compression test and the results are fine). Flush, bleed and replace coolant Flush, bleed and replace brake fluid Check other fluid levels & top up if required. Check suspension Check Drive axels Hicas warning light Check coil packs Does anyone suggest any other things to add to the list? Current mods are (FMIC, BOV, Stock Turb, boost controller)

This is an interesting thread. I have a similar problem with my qld plate. Can ppl post photos of what they did (blurring out the no. if u like). Atm mine is bent and looks pretty dodgy

Hey, Just got my first turbs car as a new toy to play with (rb20) with ARC front mount(not sure what size), blitz bov, HKS pod, avcr boost controller, factory dump and cat, 3inch cat back. Atm its on 0.75 bar (which is about 10psi). I cranked it to 0.85 yesterday, and I believe that is about 12psi. Pls correct me if you disagree with these conversion. Two questions: 1). Wondering what psi can I safely go up to, with these mods. (I have been reading around these forums and it seems like 12psi is safe with bolt ons + factory intercooler). Since I have front mount I'm assuming I can go up a bit more. I will run standard boost for daily driving but just want to know for once off moments 2). My boost comes on from 3.5k rpm for each gear - so increasing the boost should not make boost come on in lower rpm right? but rather when u hit boost (3.5rpm) itll kick in harder? Correct me if im wrong. Look forward to ur feedback Andy

Stephen22 - I am after the Boot carpet, and the rear parcel grills (I wont have any rear speakers but just want the stock grills so there is no hole). Let me know if u have these pieces and pm me where u are in bris. cheers Spook's: Not sure if I'd go back to A1 Nissan... Bad experience with them.

Thanks I couldnt find the address for Cresta. Does anyone have it handy or a contact no? Any other suggestions most welcome.

Mate what was the model number of the hifi?
-
Hey, Just after some bits to tidy up the car (ie Car boot carpet, Car interior pieces etc). Where are some good wreckers or places I can get these kind of things for cheap?
-
What are the specific differences between the m80 series over the m60?
-
Thanks Taso. I'm just curious how good they actually are and how easy it is for the person who installed your alarm to break in your car. I'm guessing it wouldn't be terribly hard. Can anyone comment from experience or any stories?
-
Hey all, Just curious what is a decent alarm system for my r32. I was going to get a turbo timer, so I was leaning towards the Mongoose m60 or m60s series (anyone know what the diff is exactly between these models?), as its not the most expensive and seems like it has all the features I need - alarm, central locking, keyless entry, turbo timer compatible. What are your experiences with the mongoose systems and how 'secure' are they compared with other brands? I'm open for other suggestions though. p.s The price for the m60s installed is $435 vs m60 $395- sound about right or a bit pricy?

I know for sure it's a dry test, and when you say Hot or cold, I'm guessing Hot is just after the car has been running. In which case yes it is a hot test - We drove the car to the mechs and he did the test straight away. This car has been freshly imported and has been sitting in the garage for about 5 months (Not sure how long it has been left in Japan). So I'm hoping as I use it more and give it another comp test down the track it should go up slightly. Any comments?
-
Thanks for your comments guys. I decided to give that one a pass. I am looking at getting another one with comp test of 125 in all cylinders. Whats do u guys think an acceptable range is for comp test results for standard rb20?
-
Assuming that engine has hard a hard live and has had knocking etc. What are the chances changing the rings will fix this issue? Not too sure what parts usually give first when knocking occurs.
-
Hey, Just curious what you guys think of this compression test for a rb20, thats done 144,000 ks (140,125,125,120,125,130). Stock engine with normal bolt ons. 3"exhaust, AVCR boost controller, BOV, Turb timer. The timing was overadvanced from the previous owner-not sure for how long, and there was a bit of knocking when under load. Planning to reset the timing and regularly keep this engine in shape. Trivial question - is it possible to improve the comp test after timing is reset, or will the readings not really change? What are your thoughts/guesses about the engine, just from the info I gave above?

Hey all, Just in the process of purchasing a R32gtst and thanks to the good guys at GTAUTO(who did the mechanical check), we have concluded that the engine may be in its last legs. I'm not discouraged to buy the car just yet. I was thinking of what I can do with it if I did buy it, and maybe renegotiate the price with seller. Two options I can see Rb25 transplant or just a full engine rebuild. The latter is probably more realistic and cheaper, for my situation. I'm not aiming for big HP, but rather something nimble for the hills/track. Just curious, for those who have done an rb20 rebuild, how much approximately it will cost to do a full rebuild with standard parts? Also are there any cheap part upgrades someone would recommend, to use in the rebuild, to make the engine stronger and last longer? Any input would be appreciated. Andy
-
Sounds like the opinions are similar. Im looking for a fast car that is comfortable to cruise in so sounds like the r33 is a worthy upgrade. Now gotta find one in decent nick and the right price Thanks for the input all.

ok. What is the 'fair' price for a mildy modded (3"exhaust, Turbo Timer, Bodykit) 94/95 Series 1 with a straight body these days? Im in Qld.
