thanks Paul. But will the increase in performance from the exhaust be wiped out by the flat spot from not having a SAFC? OR will there still be an improvemtn from the exhaust without this SAFC. Bloody Cars... $$$

Hi all. Very soon now I will be getting my 3" turbo back exhaust. I was just reading through the meggala site and noticed that the car will run really rich once this mod is done. What Im asking is it then necessary to get one of these SAFC to control this richness or is there another way. Does it actually cause any engine damage? I will eventually get a SAFC but prob not for a year.

how long did it take you for just the inlet pipe. More than a day?

I have been getting a few exhaust quotes and alot of shops are saying that they wont do the system from the actual turbo back but from the flange back or something like that. Does this make much difference or should i insist on getting it from the turbo back? Have noticed big price differences from performance shops to normal exhaust shops for the same system. ie 3" mandrel bent, turbo back, hiflo cat, stainless muffler etc. Cheers

One more question. When checking oil, is it best to check just after running the motor(5 min), or like a few hours after. The reason Im asking this is that there is a big difference between levels depending on when youre checking the oil. After adding new oil last night (and starting it up for 3 min) ,then checking the dipstick, it was right on the Full mark. And then checking this morning it was a fir bit over. I drained this excess oil

Plugs are already pregapped at .8mm. Is it worth adjusting the timing you think?

Do u think a dyno tune is necessary for a stocker? Would it make much diff or would i be better off waiting until I get my exhaust done (however this wont be for a while yet) I just thought that since Ive changed my plugs and oil i might as well tune it as well. My car is not running rough or anything though. ANy idea on what this might cost anyone?

I have just changed my oil and spark plugs and was now wondering where I can take my car for a tune. Any tips on where to take it and what it might cost for just a tune. ALso, there is some ticking noise which i presume is a noisy tappit. Is there any easy way to fix this?

Just wondering if this oil is any good? I know you all recommend much more expensive oils but things are tight for me at the moment. The guy at the shop did say this oil was recently compared to Mobil 1 Synthetic and was superior. Has anyone heard anything bad about this OIL concerning Skylines?? I am draining the shit oil out tomorrow. I have blown no smoke and cant see any leaking anywhere but on the dipstick it is getting lower. I have heard this means the motor does not like the oil it currently contains. Also what is the model number of the NGK sparkplugs ( the normal plugs) for the 'line and what should I gap them at (I have stocker except for air filter) Thanks people.

I have found the Redline panel air filter just as good. Obviously they are cheaper cause they dont have the name.

The following is a quote i got from Genei exhausts: Twin dump pipe 650 hiflow cat-stainless ?? 375 3" mandrell mild steel 450 3" muffler mild steel 160 Total $1580 dyno before and after was the best price I could get out of him. Isnt it normal for the muffler to be stainless and the cat mild steel rather than vice versa as in this case? To me this is still bloody expensive (for an exhaust) and was wondering if you would still get the same performance increase from the smaller shops such as Streetforce and QuickFit etc for similar system. Every exhaust place i ring has a completely different view on exhaust systems for skylines. So basically what Im asking is what is the best exhaust combo can you get for a reasonalbe price? Non biased opinions is what Im after

Ended up with a XR400 and it works really well. Goes of its 'nanas when near a multinova or a cop car with a radar gun. Yesterday I came round a corner and the detector went crazy. A cop car up ahead and had already pulled someone over ('bout 100m away). What I was impressed with was the fact that when I had passed this cop car and travelled down the road another 250-300 meteres,it was still picking up a stronf signal until I went around the corner. Also warns you of automatic doors which is a bonus because those things can be lethal!! Procom do a good deal with this model (although still expensive) and is much less than anyone else (' bout $150 cheaper)

just put a Redline panel filter in and am very happy. they are the same as the HKS panel filters but without the extra cost. Picked mine up for $75. The sound is only a little different but the power gains are defintely noticable. Thoroughly recommend this filter.
