  1. Hi All, and welcome to my first thread Story so far: Had my R33 GTS now for about 18 months, and she is finally paid off. Its time for some fun. Im not aiming at at top range show/sports car here, or Id be driving a GTR, but I would like the full potential of my car to shine when my right foot goes dancing. All ive done so far is throw on some ROH 17x8" Blades and some nice 225/235 shoes. So far the shopping list is: Coby extractors as from the group buy, cept Im paying full price from partsco, cos I had no money then ~ $370 shipped hi flow cat ~ $310 2.5" custom exhaust & muffler from quickfit, ~ $300 whiteline front swaybar ~ $190 king springs f&r ~ $600 fitted K&N panel filter - $? still debating the CAI vs panel on this SAFC-II - ~ $630 - unless anyone can recomend a good ECU for under $1k Also a stereo, headlight upgrades, and tinting (all asthetic) So my questions are, what am I missing (dont say turbo) ? Or what should I bother / not bother doing. From what Ive read/heard/seen anything over this doesnt seem to be a great $$/power gain, so Im asking you all. Thanks on your thoughts!
  2. One very big make over, you'd wonder why it didnt get something a little different done to it, rather than making it look like a stock S2, save rims/colour etc S2 had driver and passenger side airbag standard...so i guess you could check that, doesnt it have it written on the passenger side dash when you airbags? Not that S1 was all that different from S2
  3. Yeah best try and keep that, its saves a lot of money. Best thing is, by the time you are 24, you'll have an almost 60% NCB, unlike anyone whose had insurance under their parents names But yeah like you say, hope you dont ever have to make a claim
  4. Well my RAC is cheaper but apparently they no longer do imports? HBF very good with claims though
  5. Its designed to keep up backpressure in the NA models, I guess for either better fuel efficiency or more low end power
  6. Iwas gonna say the colour doesnt look too factory, bit too red, but very nice indeed Must have had some suspension work done on it too looking at it, how's she handle?
  7. Agreed, running on empty is not a good thing. Ive only had occasion to do it once. The idea of running out of fuel anywhere is something Ill try to avoid. All I was trying to say was that the fuel light will come on, and you still have time left. It is of course, a fuel warning light, hence, warning.
  8. Well, the R33 has a 65L fuel tank, and if you are only putting in $50 at around 98c, you're only putting in just over 50L. You'd have nearly 100km worth of fuel left when you're currently filling up. I can drive til my light comes on and get around 450 easily, mind you my car is still completely stock until next month, so this could be why.
  9. What with all the problems the EAs have, it probably was in reverse and just went forward
  10. Hey Munky, welcome, and good reason for going NA. Pretty much any insurance company will insure the car under your dad's name, as long as it's registered under his name, and isnt financed by someone else (eg, you) As for being a nominated driver, that just means you will pay some more money, especially on any claims excess. Again, attack the phones and ask, prices are always different depending on the circumstances <- a version of that sentence is in every insurance thread. As for power, around 7s 0-100 stock, best normally mid 6s with many $$ spent. Kws anything from 140 up at the flywheel, again depending on mods, wear, age etc Final answer, and you didnt even ask the question, use the search button. Saves time, saves us all going over the same stuff everytime someone is buying a line. I know i asked all this stuff myself of the search page, and she didnt let me down once. One day i dream of starting a new thread...
  11. Yeah tis why Im running NA at the moment. Thought Id save my dollars for something later in life, maybe even a GTR who knows There is a fair bit for sale through dealers out there, bought in a last minute rush to comply before the rules changed I guess. NA apparently isnt available to import anymore? have you got any specifics you want, mods you want, auto/manual, year?
  12. It could also be that the light is broken, but not very likely If its really a concern, just go crusing when you are close to empty again, with a friend in their car. I remember the first time my light came on, I had my car about 6 months and it really confused me having never seen it before. My best effort is 80km from first fuel light coming on. Streamer, how many L are you putting in when you fill up?
  13. Hey Dude autotrader links dont work (its an ASP thing) Are you going NA for the price, cheaper insurance, being different, or just liking the skyline style?
  14. My Funniest is also my scariest. Was driving a converted VW beach buggy on the dunes up at lancelin. Doing about 30km/h at the base of the dunes, just after the rocky flat area, and must have hit a rather large rock on the right rear, which im told caused the brake drum to break in half. I remember the car almost handbraking onto the rock, so i fished it back left so stop it rolling, only to end up with the back wheels on the rock anyway, and there started my 1 and 3/4 roll clockwise. Came to a rest looking at the ground over my left shoulder, my mate in the passenger seat looking completely confused, and my girlfriend about 20m behind us who hadnt been wearing a seatbelt. End result, two headaches, one badly bruised elbow and some scratches, all from 30km/h.
  15. Im almost tempted to throw the stock 15" rims on, let them right down and see if it helps. That or actually do some mods to my car?
  16. Um, pretty much yeah. Quit motorplex has street racing meets on Sundays going again now, costs $30 from memory and gets you as many runs as you can fit in. I think they started again last week. web site is www.motorplex.com.au Missing a gear normally means you didnt get the car in gear propperly, or went from 2nd to say, 5th gear. And its never a fun thing. Do you all normally let tyre pressure down some for your 1/4s, if so, do you think it helps?
  17. Did you really try? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...highlight=guide This is a very nice guide by NS2500, works for R33, 32 not that different
  18. Easiest way to check would be to look at the wheel stud pattern 4 = non turbo from factory, 5 = once was turbo Im pretty sure no one would bother to change to a 4 from a 5 when taking out a turbo Other way round yes
  19. Beats me how plastic would heat up enough to melt as an intake, especially with air flowing through it all the time. Where they're talking about placing the piping is down the front of the car, away from pretty much most of the heat If you were really worried, could always wrap it in thermal tape or something to the same effect.
  20. When I bought my car there was an NA Auto with a TommyKaira kit from the factory, with custom 19" gold wheels, rigid as heel suspension, hell it sounds pretty much identical, cept it was black, auto, and NA. Same year '94, with silver badging on the side skirts with Tommy Kaira written on them. Had it of driven better than a tractor, and gone faster than an excel I would have bought it. The thing was thrashed beyond belief, and the interior was about as good. Good collectors car if you are planning on restoring it and using it from time to time, but if you want to drive it daily, make sure its worth it [/2c rant]
  21. Well I can read and think and type at the same time so Im off Night everyone I dont know
  22. Have my stock rims Ive been trying to sell 33Spec2 But not trying too hard, in case I one day try a drag
  23. Hi All Just having a look at ROH and they have this design up in their high performance wheels, apparently in 16" and 17" Looked similar to the prev. pic is all Cheerio ROH Venturo
  24. I just cant bring myself to whore as much as paul Its like pretending your GTS-t is a GTR by putting badges on it, just plain old wrong
  25. Yeah think it was Osc@r think Ill search for it, this is such a lonnnnnnnnnnng thread
