  1. Hmm not cutting any corners with parts? JJR Coilpacks? Hmm...I wouldnt :P

When I hear T04Z I think about the Signal Auto R34 and how unreal that thing sounds...After watching that video I went out and bought HKS Step 2s! Too bad I never used them.

Yes ive heard of a few who have removed their Z's and Cams for standard stuff...at the end of the day it comes down to what you want....midrange or a massive power hit. Seeing as you are hoping for the big numbers I would assume a big hit?

It will be fun, waiting, waiting, then BOOM youre 4-wheel sliding from one side of the road to the other :)

From everything I have read, the coil packs aren't an bad item and the HKS twin spark will secure this fact.

Like I was saying before, I was merely only wanting 300 responsive kw's on the stock motor, but one thing led to another and here i am, if im building the motor I may aswell go for power and the T04z seems like the best package. I'll have to wait and see, aslong as it get's me giggling like a school girl il be satisfied, hoping to track it down south in the future thought.

  2. What was this car doing atw before the rebuild?

Got a basic list of parts for the build?

This part is the worst of it all, well to be honest the worst part is the night before its first power run :)

The car was making 237.9kw (Didn't have access to an 4wd dyno) The engine was running fine when it was removed, we decided to pull it out when we couldn't remove one of the high pressure line bolts on the turbo system, lol.. it was only meant to be a budget freshen up, (pistons, bearings, gaskets, n1 pumps) but it scaled up quickly.

05U block 20 thou over HKS pistons, eagle rods, 33 crank, Trust pump, acl bearings, HKS gaskets

worked head, new everything.. 262 cams, greddy cam gears

Ross balancer, trust oil cooler + relocater, cooling pro 100mm cooler, trust radiator, n1 water pump

2x 044 pumps + standard as lift, surge tank, 800cc injectors, nismo fuel reg

jjr coil packs + HKS twin spark

    Link G4 controlling the show

Im sure their is more i've missed, but pretty much every corner is seen to and did my best to not skimp on parts.. standard box atm..

It was sent down to Advan, who did the machining :) It has all the little tricks to keep it reliable (orifice, drain, sump)

worst part being? worrying it will pop? shit yeah :P

  3. GT3582R would be a better "big single" for a stock 26 but it will be exciting... once it comes on boost

    Far from stock :P

Yes, I did start the previous thread, not trying to revive it.. Didn't post it in the forced section because I have completed all my research and know what to expect "Spec" wise.. there is only so much "specs" can tell you.. This thread was more of a gimme the warm sensation details... You don't spend so much time, effort & money to just wait for it.. Like I said it's getting sooner to completion and im getting excited..

Looking for 420+ and will see how much leeway is in it to get more, but not overly fussed.

  4. Was going to post this in the forced induction section, but I doubt "story telling" will be favoured by the mod's.

Car's been off the road for the good part of a year (September).

Built motor (standard capacity), .84 t04z & fair bit of weight-loss .. looking for 400+ kw.

Yet to score a ride in a t04z powered R, or anything single turbo'd to match (been in a t88).

So if any owner's want to share their experience's..

How it feels, adrenaline factor, how it come's on etc etc.... Just trying to butter myself up for the future.. Shouldn't be much more then a month away.. Great deal of time, money & sleep less nights involved during the build up... Hope it lives up to my expectations ;)  me up..

  5. Yeah definitely not a great track tire... Maybe some R888's or RA1's

Do you have two sets of rims?

This is something I need to tackle soonish, another set of 18x9's and some tarmac rally rubber.

Have tried the Bridgestone RE55s SR2 (I think - slightly older tread pattern than the current model) at ~300rwkw and they were fantastic, but barely lasted through targa - really noticed a big drop off in grip by day 4. They were around $500 a corner I think.

yeah 2 sets, 32 and 33gtr rims... 32 wheels are useless to me 8' and only 16' doesn't leave much room for brake upgrade's..

  6. I put some Toyo T1R's on recently in 245/40 on R34 18x9s - were not too bad at the start.

My suspension was shot so fixed all that up rear cradle off new bushes everywhere, new arms, bars etc and all the camber caster etc set up.

Still wasn't overly impressed with them - but just over the past few weeks they have really started to get better and better as they have worn in.

They are now freaking amazing in the wet - I think they grip better than when it's dry!! Went up out the back of Healsville yesterday through a good 10km of 80km/h tight twisty rally esque back road and they did not skip a beat on wet, sometimes raining road. Put the 300 odd kw down without a question.

In the dry they are still reasonable, but the rubber is quite firm so they are not going to be overly impressive - will last longer though so fit in with a limited budget. Great mid-performance tyre for the price.

Yeah the toyo range are a great tire, used to take my t1r kitted gtr with 225's to the track .. lol.. Got 2nd in my class, mind you on a stock-ish gtr. Not sure how they would handle more power thought.

  7. what use are you talking about? circuit racing? casual circuit days with some street use? all street use with the odd track day? drag racing? casual drag days with mostly street? or just high performance road tyres? this makes a big difference to what is suitable or not.

what ever category you fall into, rather then just leaching area specific information for myself this could be a valuable reference to people. The stickied thread doesn't exactly cover all the variable's; power & application, Buying the wrong set of tire's for your car can be a costly mistake.

But being more to the point, I want some rubber which will fit on a 9' rim which will handle the car on the street through it's run in period, dyno tune's & street duties (T04z).. probably a bit ahead of myself if a 255/265 will handle a rwd dyno.

  8. well i guess it comes down to how much u wanna spend and how much u can fit under ur guards. any modification to ur guards? whats ur budget?

Il spend what Il need to spend, but would prefer going down a cheaper path. That's why id like to see what people are running..

Rims in choice are 33 gtr wheel 9' wide, so have approximately 255's to play with.

  9. Grab the 356mm setup and if your 17's dont fir then get some TE37 or something that have better brake clearance

So your saying go for the 356mm set-up, the 330mm doesn't really add up as an effective upgrade? I was hoping to not upgrade the wheels, everything adds up so violently.. motor, turbo, fuel set-up :D the wallet.

Going to measure the diameter of the wheel today, hopefully that's all Il need a 20-30mm spacer should stop it from hitting the spokes (as it's not a dished rim the spokes are set out more to the outer edge of the wheel), will report my finding

  10. Thanks for all the feed back, didn't realise so many people were running them

performance wholesale in brisbane sell the ati balancers for $740.

That's damn cheap :) just talking to people and looking over build's Ati seemed the way to go, the ross from what I saw was rarely used.

Cheapest place to find the ross? Cheapest i've found is $675 at just jap.

    cheers

  11. Anyone who has any experience with the ross (just jap sells, billet) could you let me know what you think.

My build has been going on for a while the balancer is pretty much the last item I need before the 26 goes back in the car. I've pretty much gone the "no expense spared" build, haven't skimped on any parts yet. The Ati item I know is the better balancer however it is some $500 more, I've heard mixed opinions on the ross balancer.. Just want to filter out the shit and get the facts.

Car will be running a t04z, motor revving to 8500rpm (street/ track duties)

    thanks

  12. Can you be more detailed please, "REPLACED ALL EARTH LEADS".

    Which leads?

Had the same drama with mine just before I went in for a rebuild.

The earthing off the resistor pack (my anology) which the coil pack leads hook up to (small box next to fire wall) had a very weak earth if you could say that. So i made my own strap using jay car parts ($2) and added a secondary earthing which fixed the problem.

  13. won't be too much help.. I've got 2 mates each running the set-ups mentioned above on stock capacity 26's with small head work, ported + cams.

Both car's are laggy, GTRS's won't start moving till 4500rpm and will push you into the seat hard 500rpm later. Will keep making power all the way to 8000rpm.. On the other hand the t618z car will be some 500rpm laggier as it builds up to 1.5 bar very late on the band. Massive top end on it well past 8000rpm on the 26. Unless your throwing it on a 30 I wouldn't bother as it is very laggy on the 26. 1st gear is pretty much useless topping 1 bar, then making a full 1.5 in 2nd.

Very brief description I know but thought id add something in.
