  1. Hi all, Long time no post... My R33 s2 failed rego last year due to an oil leak around the rocker cover/gasket. I got it cleaned up and passed rego elsewhere, car doesnt get much use, but rego is due again in 3 weeks so i want to fix it up properly. Now i can see i can get a gasket and seals for about $110 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111281470128?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Or a complete engine gasket kit for $220 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161194044408?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 I'm just wondering if labour wise, there is a huge difference between the 2, and what should i expect ball park? I dont want to spend more than i need to thats for sure, but if it means spending a little more now instead of just spending again a year from now, id entertain it. Cheers
  2. R33 S2 headlights brand new for $800? Wow I never saw them under $1k!!! Usually around $1200 when I was looking. As luck would have it, I had a prang with a Hilux about 2 years ago and the headlights bonnet etc had to be replaced so $500 insurance excess fee got me brand spankin new headlights To give an update on my last post buying the Osram nightbreaker plus globes for high beam, low beam, and fog lights.... they work pretty good! WAY better illumination than the bloody Diamond vision globes I had before, as you'd expect. The colour is a nice clean white too. Not bluish at all, but not too yellow, a beautiful slightly warm but clean white. I took her for a spin last night at 2am (eeeeep cops!) to test the lights out and it was such a refreshing change to be able to see where im going haha! The 4000k LED parkers are good too. The colour tone is a MUCH cleaner white light in person but anyhow here is a pic: What I did notice, now that I have globes that actually light stuff up properly, is random white spots bouncing out I assume just due to the reflector lens. See pic below: Lastly, with these globes... using high beam doesn't seem to make much difference as the reach of the low beam is much improved. I could maybe elevate the angle of high beam a bit more to see if makes much difference. But yeah, happy with these lights for now.

  4. What about wait for the harness to come in and send the coils and harness to save the postage?
  5. Bloody hell thats EXACTLY what i want done... come to Sydney mate lol
  6. Dumb arse question here, how quick is it to install these and does it require a tune?
  7. Mate if you branch out doing proper R33 HID retrofits i'll be your first buyer haha. I ended up buying Osram nightbreakers for high beam, low beam, and fog lights. I got the 4000k Osram LED parkers too. Good site that powerbulbs.com 12 month warranty and customer service by all reports is very good. When I get these all in i'll be beaming out light the colour of the sun I reckon.... huge farking adjustment that will be.
  8. Might just get over it and go for easy practicality... powerbulbs.com have a 20% off site wide this weekend so might just replace my low beam, high beam, and foggies all with osram nightbreaker plus. Not what i wanted but maybe it'll grow on me.
  9. I'm not bothered about modifying. If there is a good way to retrofit HID and get a quality outcome that sounds like exactly what i'm after, but I am flat out not interested in meddling with it myself. It sounds like it is possible but perhaps not practical without me doing it myself, which aint happening.
  10. I have a S2, I think when I checked that out a few years ago it was a bit of a no go option as they clash the S2 bonnet, front bar, sides etc. So it sounds like there are 2 HID options.... throw in any old HID KID and god knows how average they will splash the beam out. Or do some sort of retrofit of my existing lights to get projectors inside the enclosure, then put HID kit in.. sounds like id be pushing shit up hill finding a shop to do that.
  11. Thanks mate, I had checked those ones out before.. bright but the white is too warm for my liking. Might consider these or similar for high beams though.
  12. Sorry you lost me mate... OEM what? Does HID retrofit refer to just hooking up a HID kit or also somehow converting to projectors? I don't have patience nor the inclination to stuff around with anything electrical. Anything here will need to be done by a shop.
  13. Hi All, A few years ago when HIDs were first hitting the scene i held back on getting them put into my R33 S2. I did this mainly because i was concerned about reports they were overly obnoxious, due to the R33 S2's reflector headlight inclosure, to oncoming motorists and potentially even draw attention from the boys in blue. In that time i have had a few different types of normal H1's globes in the car, the latest being Phillips Diamond Vision 5k which whilst looking nice dont really provide much illumination. If its a little doggy or raining, my visibility is significantly impaired. So here i am a few years down the track to suss out what my options are to improve the situation and if there is a better option...other than going back to yellow tinged lights.. Has there been any improvement with certain HIDs being better suited to the R33 S2 reflector enclosures? Are there workshops experienced fitting them and adjusting to minimise irritant to other motorists? Another option? Thanks in advance!!
  14. Couple of days?! Haha its no show car I just want it tidied and corrected... sounds like he might be a league and price range above what I need..
  15. Hi Guys, my r33 is in need of a proper clean including a good cut n polish etc as there are some marks on the paint ever since those buggers at Jack Hillermans repaired it from an accident 18 months ago. Whilst they did a good job on the repair, they left marks all over the car seemingly from where they had taped plastic around it... I don't drive the car much so didn't cotton into it until later. Its hard to explain these marks but they annoy me when i see the sun reflect off them. I dunno if it stripped the clear coat, stained, something that's visible when light reflects off it. They are mostly around the door handles and rear bumper. Anyway, im after someone who can give the car a good solid clean and fix up this stuff as well. I don't want to waste a day stuffing around myself and potentially not even get the outcome I want. So options please.... either around the lower north shore (chatswood/st leonards etc) or Campbelltown areas. Thanks!
  16. man you guys are LEGENDS!!!! It was the front drivers quarter panel. fark me. that has been driving me BONKERS. Tightened her up has stopped now. there is stilla tiny faint noise but the difference is like night and day. so happy!! Unfortunately i just got my CTP renewal in the mail.... looks like they have gone up AGAIN. $740 now!!!
  17. Have PM'd Moelders... hopefully he replies soon! Power Play were only 20mins down the road from me, the car always felt a lot better after a service there than anywhere else i have taken it... why i dont know, but it id. What a shame!
  18. Hahah i tried the loud stereo... but it has to be quite loud!!! The reason why i dont think its suspension related is because its "sounds" closer than that. Doesnt sound like its from the engine bay either. Ill take it to someone this week and give them the suggestions mentioned here as a starting point.
  19. Hi Guys My car has a REALLY weird and annoying squeek noise whenever going over bumps or at high speed on the highway. It only used to happen when going over speed humps but gradually over the past year or so its gotten worse and worse where its almost all the time driving now to some degree, but on bumpy roads or the highway at speed its basically non stop and really doing my head in. i.e. im up the coast on holidays at the moment and for the entire 3.5 hr drive it was squeeking. Its driving me nuts. I've had the car serviced at TT automotive in North Sydney and they didnt observe any major issues wiht my car and said its in good mechnical order etc, though they didnt explicitly look for this squeek. The squeek seems to be coming from the front drivers corner of the car but i cant pin down where. Somewhere near the mirror/door/dash region. It doesnt sound like it is shock related (i have the sydneykid package, bilsteins with whiteline springs), but i really just dont know. Its not a normal dash rattle, its much squeekier than that. Its gotten to the point i just want to give the car to someone to sort it out once and for all. But i dont know where i should take it for this since i dont know what is causing it. Any thoughts or recommendations be greatly appreciated!!! As soon as im back in Sydney tomorrow i wanna organise to take the car in somewhere to sort this out.
  20. Can anyone confirm whether the workshop for powerplay is still operating or not??? Thanks guys

  22. I bought one off someone here before but ended up letting a mate have it, and its annoying me again not having mine fixed. So. If anyone has a full R33 aerial system, the aerial, motor etc all in great and functional condition please send me a PM. Im located in Sydney, lower north shore, but happy to pay for it to be posted if price is right. Thanks
  23. There is always one. Thanks Liz, i might give them a call.
