Yeah had plastic down of floor for majority of time, but was gravel anyway so didnt really matter. You dont get that much overspray at all. No plastic on inside of tents just sides with $1 drop sheets :sorcerer: Yes had ventilation going thru with holes and drop sheets at rear and half one at front. Once we sprayed pulled front and back up to allow some air through.

Tah John and Moanie Yeah i sort of made it sound worse than it is... as said the finish has some belmishes in it but they should come out with the last cut back and buff. Should bring it up to a glassy finish

Yeah the bubbling was a bit of a bummer... only knowing the basics of it all i was expecting to hit a few problems.... just a shame as that was the only real issue. Oh well i will know for next time! Didnt know about putting the pearl in with the clear coat! As for pulling car down.... i really had time constraints and limited space so only did the bare minimum. The rear lights are a bish to take off as the are silicon sealed so wasn;t in the mood to re do it. The taping was done very very carefully so overall had no signs of paint lines! Was trying to source a kit before i sprayed it but didn't happen. Also decided that since it is purely a track car than anything else the added weight of a kit was a good enough reason to stick with stock items.
-
Thanks peeps for the kind words! The photos don;t do the colour justice as they were taken on a overcast day so not all the colours and pearl showed through! But i will have it out and about soon enough to see in the flesh! Finish is no bad at all considering first attempt ever and was done outside in the elements. Just needs the final cut back of clear coat and a good ole buff! Yeah considered that but was in the too hard basket!!!

Paint as said got off a friend for only a couple of hundred dollars. But to put it into perspective, if you just buy a 2L paint tin of Phatom Black it would cost a couple of hundred dollars. The overall cost of all my paints would of been almost $1000 but all the different colours and metallic put into the base coat then + the pearl paint. I used my own compressor for the primer coats which is a supercheap 2.5HP one. But for the base coat you need a BIG one so you have lots of consistant pressure which is vital when spraying the paint, so i hired one from Kennards for $70. Yeah rear view, then side mirror, then out the front windscreen as I fly past ha ha...
