  1. Had a standard R33 following me for a while on the Gateway northbound this morning. 7ish am..
  2. I was told they will get noisy after a while?
  3. I saw these on eBay..also wondered where the hell they go. Didn't the guy that you got them off give you any info?
  4. Hey guys, I've got got a bit of a problem. I'm currently overhauling the suspension set up on my R34 and after having Tein SS & D-Project castor rods installed a couple of months later the car has developed this loud bumping/creaking noise. I've taken it to the suspension place for them to have a look at it and they told me the front upper control arm bushes were badly worn so I've replaced them with the Whiteline kit but that hasn't fixed this noise. From what I've read a few people have had the D-Project castor arms clap out on them within a couple of months, saying that its the rose joint on them that is badly designed. I guess my questions are: Anyone here that has had them die, is that the kind of noise they make? If it is the rods is my best option to invest in some Jap ones, Cusco or Tein?
  5. Mine would tend to get the reading when I wasn't hitting rev limiter..close to it but not quite.. always over 6,000rpm though.. But same, I don't get a reading on 'normal' gear changes. Only full boost, WOT..
  6. Dan, Do you get those readings on an SAFC or another device? If it's an SAFC it gives me a bit more hope. I asked the first guys who tuned it to 200rwkw how they were listening to see if it was knocking or were they just going by the SAFC. He told me that they had a guy in the engine bay with headphones listening & a guy at the back watching the exhaust to see if it blew smoke. I'm guessing they didn't hear a whole lot because he told me to disregard the SAFC's reading at that point. I'm just afraid if they're wrong then my engine going bang. I mean, what else is happening at the point where it's changing gears? Over fueling for a split second?..
  7. That's what I was told by the first tuning shop that took it from 180rwkw to 200rwkw. The only thing is that it never used to get a high reading before. Could that be explained by the jump in power therefore the transmission being a bit rougher getting into gear...? If I check the plugs will they show signs of damage if it only happened maybe.. 20 or so times for that split second?
  8. Just Jap do a nice one in black for $150ish, made for one with a front mount though.
  9. I thought it advanced the timing during gear changes? That's just what I understood from somewhere else who I've spoken to. I could very well have been mistaken but it just kind of made sense as to why it would knock only during gear change. The SITC is wired in correctly (I presume..?) I'll definitely have a look and see if it changing the timing under idle. I guess that will answer the question about whether it's working correctly or not. edit: it does seem like it retards instead of advances the timing during gear change so there goes all my hope anyone else have any ideas why it would only be pinging on gear change..?
  10. I've got an auto R34 with the usual mods...full 3" exhaust, fmic, hks evc, safc II & apexi itc. It was making 200rwkw on 10-11psi. (this was with the apexi itc not installed) the tuner had advanced the timing at the CAS. It was getting a knock during gear change (when pushing it) for a split second (would show up on the safc) had a reading of 150+. Wouldn't knock at any other time. Long story short, the itc has been installed but the tuner says that it doesn't seem to be changing the timing as much as it says (i'll check this soon) so it was still knocking when I got it back. took the car back again, took timing out from the CAS and the knock has disappeared but the power has gone down to 180rwkw. I'd like to get it back up to a higher figure. It's just this issue of the standard ecu adding that little bit more timing at gear change on top of it already being advanced. What's my way around this? Is the itc not the best option? would an e-mange ultimate be better...?

  12. They had this on the news the other night, they're not even 'hoon' cars... They're just dodgy as holdens & fords that people drove unregistered etc. I bet $100 the Skyline will be a beat up R31.. They were all just heaps of junk that they showed on TV.
  13. Interesting... I'll definitely get an oil cooler before the weather starts to heat up again then see how I go I suppose. Thanks for your opinion Dan
  14. I was thinking I should look at it because my standard oil temp gauge gets to around 120 in the summer and when it's being pushed even in the cooler months. I thought for sure if my oil was heating up then my water temp would be even worse?
  15. I have spoken to them but they just say it's for a manual and aren't sure whether it will fit an auto too
  16. I'm saying coil packs, had all those symptoms in mine.
  17. bump... anyone??
  18. Just one thing, I've heard that the blue Emanage causes the coilpacks to die over & over again...
  19. I'm looking at getting a new radiator for my auto R34. I was looking at the Cooling Pro ones JustJap is selling for $399 but I'm not sure if they'll have all the necessary fittings that I'll need being an auto not a manual. Has anyone fitted one before or know for sure whether it will fit or not?
  20. it seems you have to cut through metal if you want to install one?
  21. Any plans on making these for other models? (R34!!)
  22. I'm after a pod enclosure for my R34 and I'd like to make it myself however I'm finding it really hard to get the design right. I have the standard piping and it just seems like an impossible task! I was wondering/hoping that someone out there who's made their own (or bought one?) would have a stencil of it? I know it's a long shot but I figured I'd give it a go. The cheapest ones I can find ($190+) still look a bit dodgy from what I can see so I'm after the rough design of one and then make minor adjustments to it if needed..
  23. I have a question about the Jap brand oil coolers (or should I say, a cooler that has a thermostat) What's the deal when the thermostat is closed and thus not allowing all the oil through the cooler, is this bad for the engine (eg pressure wise)? because there's going to be that little bit too much oil in the engine? or is it not enough to even worry about?
