  1. I was talking to a guy today who has just built a RB25 race engine and he suggests 9.0:1 is too high and I would only be able to run 15psi with 98 octane boost and not alot of timing. Is he full of it??? Is a GT35/40 with a .63 external gate way too small for a RB30/26 (9.0:1) track car? Im wanting 300rwKw. This guy uses a .63 GT35/40 on his RB25 8.5:1 making 340rwKw on Elf fuel. He was running a .82 but was bit too laggy for him. (Seems a high power figure......)
  2. RB25 gasket if you have a R33 RB25 VCT head. RB25, RB26 or RB30 gasket if you have R32 RB25 or RB26 head http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html Use this link from the previous page and work it out with what ever head you have.....
  3. for 60/40 track/road use, you would probably be best off with a good road tyre designed to be used on the track sg: Falken RT615 (treadware 200) Federal 595RS (treadware 180) These aren't as sticky as semi slicks but have stiffer sidewall construction than most normal road tyres. These are the allround pick of semis. One of the cheapest, best and most common: Bridgestone RE55S soft=WT, med=TT, hard=SR Bridgestone RE540S soft=G, med=S, hard=R others: Dunlop DZ02G Dunlop D01J Yokohama A032R Yokohama A048R Kumho V70A Toyo RA1 Toyo R888
  4. I put in 86.5, 85, 87 HG bore, 1.2 HG height, 65cc for RB26 (was a guess, some say they are 70cc? although CP measured some at 64.5cc avg) and 13cc dome. = 9.12 Im picking up my RB26 head later today so i'll have to measure the cc's!
  5. No, most charge a few hundred more. SPS in Melbourne said yeasterday they can make whatever you want if you give them all your specs. Approx $1700-1800 incl rings and pins. Im pretty sure they use Cosworth blanks?
  6. What c/r are they meant to be Cubes?? I dont know if any other pistons brands make a RB30/2# specific piston in 8.0+ compression and I cant be stuffed reading thru all the thread again! EG: JE, Wiseco, Mahle.
  7. I had a quiet day at work today so did a bit of emailing and ringing around to find out about pistons.... CP All compression ratios are based on zero deck height, 1.2mm head gasket (7.13cc), RB25 @ 62.5cc, RB26 @ 64.5cc. They assure me they have done alot of work to make sure the facts are correct. p/n= CP-RB30/26-.20 Flat top with no valve pockets 8.2:1 COMPRESSION RATIO with RB25 head and bit less with RB26 head 21mm pin 1.280" compression height Only stocked in 0.20 thou oversize but can be custom ordered in any size. p/n= CP-RB30/26-.20-9.0 6.0cc dome top, 9.0:1 COMPRESSION RATIO with RB25 head and bit less with RB26 head 21mm pin 1.280" compression height Only stocked in 0.20 thou oversize but can be custom ordered in any size. *Care must be taken when using on RB26 with more than 11.5mm valve lift* ARIAS Suit RB30/26 p/n= AP332103 flat top 21mm pin 1.280" compression height Only stocked in 0.20 thou oversize (86.5mm). COMPRESSION RATIO 8.4-8.6 Suit RB30/26 p/n= AP332104 10.6cc dome top 21mm pin 1.280" compression height Only stocked in 0.20 thou oversize (86.5mm). COMPRESSION RATIO 9.2-9.4 Suit RB30/25 p/n= AP332105 13cc dome top 21mm pin 1.280" compression height Only stocked in 0.20 thou oversize (86.5mm). COMPRESSION RATIO 9.5-9.8 WISECO Skyline RB30 w/ DOHC RB25det cylinder head 1.260" compresion height, 66.5cc head chamber, Dish top -11.3cc, 7.0:1 compression ratio, 21mm pin, 1mm gasket thickness, 1mm deck clearance. K577M865 86.5mm K577M87 87.00mm ACL 6MKRY9608 (VL turbo) 87mm, -4.5cc dished top, 1.261" compression height, 21mm pin, Standard RB30ET pistons are 7.8:1, with RB25 head it is 7.1:1 These are bumped up to 8.5:1 so with the RB25 head it may give about 7.5:1?? Using http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html I came up with 8.5 for VLT (spot on) and 7.6 with twin cam head with 64cc chamber. I entered: 2, 87, 85, 87, 1.2, 64cc, -4.5cc = 7.6:1 BUT these have a lower compression height than the CP/Arias and im sure it stuffs up my calculations but its late and im too tired to look at it any more...
  8. I have just purchased a CAMS spec cage from Bond roll bars for my VH Commondore. 6 point CAMS spec steel tube bolt in $880 (includes joiners etc) weld in $800 (includes intrusion bars) http://www.malvern-group.com.au/ Bond roll bars (NSW), Browne Davis Automotive (Vic), Malvern Motorsport (Vic), Fabraications (Vic) all can do excellent cages.

  20. If you want something like that size, you will have to try Race Brakes or Cebco brakes in Melbs, or Austrack motorsport in Syd sell Willwood discs. Possibly you can buy just the discs from Benson Motorsport (CSC brand?) They might even have the alloy 'hats' already if you dont already have them. If you do have some hats, it might be hard to find out what brand disc bolts on as they have different bolt patterns. What caliper are you going to use?
  21. I've had Fueltech Automotive do alot of work for me in the past. Any of them are good.
