can you fit a manual radiator on an auto car? or does it have to be an auto radiator to be fitted properly?

was driving on eastern fwy.. and car was struggling to get to 100kph.. it was like stuck on 90-100 and won't go any faster. Then this light pop up.. so i slowed down.. to like 80 and then it turned off.. i speed up to 100kph again.. after i exit the freeway.. it drives like its struggling and sounds like like theres a hole on the muffler or something.. but it struggles to gain speed.. when the engine is cold.. it drives fine.. and when it gets hot.. it makes that weird sound again.. like bupbupbupbupbup... i think how wrx sounds? =/ anyway... anyone can tell me what that light on the dash was for? and what's the reason i couldn't gain more speed but got stuck there.. car is a r32 gts...
