  1. thanks yeah, both were taken on a tripod, top one was a 30sec exposure, bottom was 60 seconds I think, both ISO 100, but I don't think I turned noise reduction off.
  2. Few shots I took tonight, I'll try to reduce the noise a bit when I get a chance.
  3. I've seen a few of those shots before, but yeah I couldn't expand them either
  4. Just picked up a 50mm prime lens today, girlfriend went out to the backyard and took some shots of our pup, thought this was was great, so I'm posting it on her behalf Times to get her her own camera me thinks
  5. quick and dirty photochop, didn't come out half bad
  6. still no better to be honest, the sky is already very high contrast. I might try a photochop of the sky and scenary
  7. actually, good point I didn't try a single shot to see if that will work, i'll run a few now and see if its any better and yeah, I've got the raw files
  8. A few down at Wynnum; A quick Panorama, not perfect, I'll spend more time editing when I get a chance This one I thought was interesting shot of the Heavens, I took a whole heap with the plan to render it in HDR, unfortunately, as these were 10 second exposures the clouds moved too quickly and it didnt turn out right at all, so this is just one of the frames.
  9. 12th man - there are heaps of ways as 75coupe said, check my previous comment for a few ideas. If you can get the hdd to spin up then there are a few ways to get data back. Ultimatebootcd is your friend. There are a few other free apps around and some specialized gear for data recorvery if you know where to look. We do a fair bit of our own data recovery at work, we use write blockers and sometimes a dedicated recovery pc with some funky hardware in it to do it. At the end of the day though, if the hdd isn't spinning up when given some juice, no software is going to get that data back, which leaves I with my 2 original suggestions. Matt
  10. if your giving them power and they are not even spinning up I think your in trouble unfortunately there is some good news though, if the PSU has killed the HDD circuits, its unlikely that platters themselves are damaged, so the data is probably still there, but without the circuits to spin them up, your shit outta luck, You do have options though: If you can find other drives that are the same model, if you're careful you could switch the circuit boards to repair it and recover the data that way (no gurantees though) or If the data is critical, take it to a data recovery specialist, they generally cost a bit, but they do this sort of thing every day so it wouldn't take long to recover, which from your original description, there is a good chance they can get it all back. This is why I have an online service to back up everything critical to a server in the US, cost me $5 a month for peace of mind (I have currently uploaded about 15gig, but it is an unlimited service and have about 50gig more to upload that is not as critical, so good value)
  11. i've got a slim as well as the old one so i'll give the slim ago after dinner
  12. its a global problem with the PSN network (affects all PS3's, not just COD), apparently its borking saved games and data files, i'm keeping both my ps3's off till its fixed. It affects single player as well. Glad i have it on PC
  13. hey zennon, quick q, is that hdr processed or just overlaid to get the lightning in? matt
  14. DSLR is the way to go, as someone else said if you can get your hands on a Canon 350D or even a 450D, you can expand your setup overtime with new lenses and swap out the body when you have more $$$ As a reference, a Canon 500D is about $1200-$1400 with the twin IS kit form memory (which is the newer version than that 450D)
  15. Thanks!, Its the Queen Mary Falls, just outside of Killarney which is past toowoomba. There is an awesome cafe around there to, bit of a drive but well worth it. Was just lucky I was up there with work
  16. Couple of photos from the last two days, was away with work on an exercise, last 2 were taken simply to document the exercise, but I thought they were nice shots. All taken down at and around Queen Mary Falls. This is the top of the queen Mary falls Woke up to a heap of these birds, this one was just taking off as I fired off a shot Plans for then next few days Deploying one of the trucks Qoute of the day "511 Tango, deviating from route to look at a cork tree, over"
  17. Couple of shots from a trip to springbrook today, waiting on ND filter to arrive so struggled with the overcast lighting and exposure settings to get the water right, these were the best shots of the day Messing with HDR: Random log:
  18. that will teach me for not reading properly lol Just about to order one I think
  19. ND1000! lol, yeah I'm reasonably read up on ND filters just never really considered using them till I saw your shots What size/brand and where did you get yours from? I need a 77mm for my canon 10-22 lens
  20. hey zennon, what level of ND filter are you using for those exposures? ND4/8? matt
  21. shot I took the other night, Canon 500D, 10-22 IS lens + UV Filter
  22. Thought I'd throw up a few of the shots I've been learning to do Comments welcome! Taken on the southside of the gateway at the park nearby. Was messing with new flash and using car headlights. I really like the surreal lighting on the leaves. Northside of the gateway under the new section. Messing with long exposures, this was taken at about 9pm, pretty much pitch black, but with the passing traffic and traffic lights gave some interesting lighting. Other direction of the photo above, again, messing with exposures and lighting
  23. One of my new favorites, took it a few weeks ago.
  24. congrats chris! Will be giving you a a call in the next few weeks about some odds and ends i need looked at
  25. That would have been me! Yay I was spotted lol. Didn't see a R34 though? Were you going the same direction as me? Would have waved otherwise!
