Removing The Rear Spoiler To Repaint/repair
jippa replied to oxford1327's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
my stag has sfhc but the panel and paint shop i took it to to get a ding fixed stufed up my bonet. they buffed and polished it and it left bad swirl marks after a few days. took it back and complained so the gave it another buff and a week later the swirls came back, moral of the story dont buff sfhc -
hey i have a jvc double din unit and hade to earth the park brake wire, was trying to power it up first but that didnt work. ?

nice. i nearly upgraded my s1 for an s2 same colour but mines got to many cool options . didnt see the triptronic paddles on the steering wheel. does it have triptronic? cant wait till i get my monkey warehouse kit fited and painted then i can show the rest of you wa'ers my stag. shes gonna look so hot...
-
anyone in wa want to get a monkey whouse body kit wit me. trying to see if i can get the freight down a bit? got quoted $238 for freight and $1350 for the kit. maybe we can get a bit of both if anyone is keen. also got a phone quote of my panel and paint shop to fit and paint kit for $1000. they have done work for me before and are quite good

dont know what it looked like, all i got is a outline of where it used to be ,but i think i spoted one on yahoo japan on a r34 front end s1 stagea. made out a bump before the sunroof that looked the same colour as the window air deflectors but cant be sure. one other thing on mine is i have these two brackets stuck to the roof near the boot. looks like they might be for straps, not shure if its a factory thing?
-
just wondering if you can still buy all those cool factory optioned bits that bolt or clip on or would they have stoped making them? i have got a few things in my stag like lugage fan, auto start, heads up display and some sort of outlet for something in the boot door and one that was removed in the boot, just a hole now. it looked like it also had a deflector for the front sunroof but its gone cos the paint has an outline and looks darker than the rest of the paint. anyone else got some cool factory options?

love to get another project on the go but already got 3 cars in the driveway. one more and id be in the bad books wit the misses. just got rid of an fj 40 wreck that lived in the garage for 6 months as a spider breeding ground

thought about it, the main thing to change is th fmic and looking at the s2 it will be harder to install. anyone done a r33 intercooler that routs under the battery with a hole cut in the chassi for the s2..? also is 25 k to much for a s2 wit 77 thousand on the clock? the condition is quite good 1 small scratch on the paint and the car comes wit a 3 year warranty
-
Ive had my s1 stag for 7 months now and want to get a s2. I started doing a few mods to the old girl then spoted this nice red S2 for 25 K. The mods i have done are hybrid r33 fmic ,apexi pod ,apexi 3 inch cat back exhaust and a s1 shift kit. both mine and the s2 have leather and are both fully optioned but mine has the twin sun roofs, auto start and a lugage fan , that never gets any use. is it worth upgrading and starting my mods all again? need some input not shure if its worth the extra cash . also anyone in wa looking for a s1 cos i will have to sell my one first.

it saves your clutch packs from slipping before it is fully in the next gear by letting more fluid through the valve body to push the packs together quiker. you have 2 sets of packs. 1 for 1st and 3rd gear and the other for 2nd and 4th. the weakest shift is 2nd to 3rd.
-
how did you find the stage 2 . was it a bit severe for daily driving? do you think the hard shifts have extra impact on the driveline?
-
no it stayed the same got about a 10 mm gap between the pipe and the washer bottle. the radiator hose is touching but theres not much pressure there
-
its modifying the valve body. bigger springs new valves and drilling bigger holes in a plate to let more fluid through to firm up the shift .its like a shift kit just a mild one but stiil gets a heap better shift than standard
-
starting this thread for anyone who wants firmer shifts in there auto without a shift kit . was having a few problems wit my trans slipping in third gear and first so took her to the shop. The car has a warranty so told the guy while it was appart that i wanted a shift kit installed cos it would be cheaper. when he called back he told me that i had a leaky solenoid and there was a lot of tarnish on the valve body, then he mentioned the Shift Improver and from its description could probably claim it under warranty. It claimed that it would extend gearbox life by firming up 3rd quite a lot and other gears aswell. the shift improver cost round 250. This is a good idea if you want firm shifts but not a shift kit as they can change gears alot harder. anyways i am happy with the end product. nice firm shifts that dont break ya neck. has anyone else had one installed.?

yea will do just gona keep the mods basick . fmic , pod , 3inch exaust turbo back boost controll and looking at geting a haltec interceptor ecu(piggyback) then get her on the dyno.didnt notice any major lag issues with new fmic
-
here are some picks. they cut a hole underneath the battery but everything else stayed where it was.
-
will take some picks now. the restriction would be the firs 90 degree bend straight out of the fmic but it probably wouldnt be much more than the other way as it has bends but not straight out of the cooler
-
from what i have heard the return pipe to the stock position restricts the air flow ... was going to do the install myself but wouldnt have done a good a job as the shop did. One good thing i found though was when i was trying to chop out some of my bumper for more air flow into fmic. started with my dremel grinder but it was a bit rough so tried wit my stanley knife and it cut through the plastick really easy and left really neat cuts. the plastic in the bummpers is quite soft
-
plazman do a kit for the stageas so there is no need for new piping. i looked at it myself but it wasnt cheap. a bit over 2 grand i think. cant remember the web sit but google it ,shouldnt be to hard to find. I went for a hybrid r33-34 gts fmic, cost $780 and $400 to fit and it came out really good will post some pics when i get mine back from the transmition place.

My s1 came with the dark tint all round except to front windows which i think looks unfinished so took her to my local tint shop. the guy there was right into his imports and told me what to do. he said the 2 front windows did have the green tint you are talking about and to match it up to the rest of the tint i would need to get a darker grade tint than the rear windows and it was really hard to get the collour excactly the same. it came close but there is a slight difference and the grade he had to go to wasnt legal... also the light from the front window makes the tint look lighter. hasnt impared the vision to much only a little at night but if you dont have to match any other windows you can go whatever grade you want.....

my girlfriend likes it cos she can nag me when im speeding

just checking if anyone else has on of these on there stag. its located over where the dash clock sits and projects speed, outside temperature and has a moving compass so I dont get lost. It looks like a discman(same size anyway) and has its own little pop up screen whic the info gets projected onto.
