  1. If you're backing in behind a car that's already parked I usually find it easy to line up next to the driver door of that car, as you reach the passanger door or rear seats full lock and do the deed as teK-- has said. It usually sets you up for a good start. Maybe do a few practice parks with someone before you head in? It's pretty easy once you get the gist of how the angles work Good luck, let us know how you go!
  2. Definitely license tests shout be more strict. I believe it should be compulsory to take an advanced driving course before you even get your license. When I did my L's on my bike a girl got through even though she crashed in the test! They just let people through. As for higher speed limits it would definitely be logical. Most of the freeways are built for more than 100 km/h, it could make a massive difference. Adjustable speed limits are the way to go, including lowering the limits in peak hour.
  3. Please keep on topic ps, I checked out some of those sites and noticed there are a few cameras missing... so this might still be handy.
  4. MONASH FWY. Just after warragul road exit - outbound. Was stand still traffic an hour ago (12.30), got out of it by doing a u-turn inbetween the fwy O_O. Was the worst. Some sort of incident up ahead. So if you're heading home tonight after the city you are probably not going to read this, but jump off at Warragul road and take a different route. Oh, also MELBOURNE, Spencer street tonight... they now block off one edge of the city for football?? It took me an hour to get from Melbourne Central to South Melbourne.. So I would pretty much avoid driving there any time there is footy.
  5. Ok I hate ACA... but they reported that cops raised something like $20k in 4 hours the other day from having an undercover cop stand on the street and report people on their phones/with out seatbelts etc that were then pulled over later down the road. 20k?! If they were doing something honourable with the money (like charity/environment/homless) then it would be fine. But they're not. Very frustrating
  6. Check with a solicitor. If you and they signed a contract they you are both bound by it. If what you say is enough evidence to prove that they broke that contract, take them to court. It might not even get that far if you write them a letter from your solicitor. Only a lawyer will know exactly what to do and how far to go. Just don't go with Slater and Gordon or 'Kenyons'... I swear those people have forged degrees, they were useless. If you do take them to court and win it's a possibility that you can demand that they cover your expenses. This though will also have to be verified. If a lawyer doesn't think you have a chance (check with a few). I wouldn't bother... you will be far past the cost of repair if you try to take them and lose. Good luck
  7. I went past the carwash ten minutes ago and half expected you to be there James
  8. Try The Old Paper Shop Deli on Clarendon Street in South Melbourne. Their cakes are AWESOME. 9690 6702
  9. As I noticed a couple of new/sneaky road safety cameras put up recently I thought it would be handy to let everyone know about cameras around Melbourne. Feel free to post up any fixed, portable cameras you see around the place so that others can be aware. Posts can be handy for anyone who checks the forum before they head somewhere. Also, post incidents if they are making a big difference to traffic (eg Western Ring Road). This might be able to help us avoid painful driving experiences. PLEASE NOTE: This is not a thread for slagging out cops or cameras, purely informative of their where abouts. Please keep on topic with the following format. SUBURB: Street/Intersection, direction, time (if car mounted or incident), any details/notes. Map if you can be stuffed A couple that I have become aware of recently: DONCASTER: Williamsons Road, intersection of Doncaster Road heading south. Speed and red light camera for straight and RH turn (put up recently) Map Linky ST KILDA: Fitzroy Street, intersection of Lakeside Drive. 40 km/h zone which got a whole bunch of people I know by surprise. Map Linky
  10. Hey guys, just a reminder if you haven't called the Blood Bank and booked I would recommend doing so soon as they fill up quickly in the after hours times.
  11. Some people wear gloves *shudders*
  12. Come do mine, and my bike... and my other bike... and maybe the other 2 cars.... plskthxbai
  13. Have booked in for 7pm on Wednesday, but will be there eating lollies from earlier.
  14. Sounds like fun, I can't do Mondays
  15. They probably have a law in place, I called the cops about the one that sits on the ring road and backs up traffice from Dalton road to the Diamond Creek round about... I mean seriously, we go a maximum of 80km/h on a good day, now they make us go 30. The cop said that they have permission to park anywhere and it doesn't get decided by the cops. What I DO know is that a company that contracts these people is based in my street at work.... I've been drafting up a few strategies at work, anyone want to join me?
  16. Actually I just remembered I have Japanese on Tuesday night lol! But if you can only go Tues, still go! I'll be in the city anyway and if there's a group can do something both nights
  17. OK f**k it... WEDNESDAY! Sorry to whoever voted Tues, and to anyone else who hasn't voted yet.
  18. Linky of cruise? Good roads up there for sure, it's better to go in summer when the snow season isn't on so that you don't have to pay to get in. Haven't taken the car up there yet but on the bikes it's awesome.
  19. Dinner will be after as most people will be heading to the bb straight after work. Basti don't book until we confirm what day we're going on! Unless you can't go on one of the days and want to go whether it's with us or not
  20. Awesome, check out the new thread for further information.
  21. That's true, mine was 2k more at car city but I went direct to the dude who imported it, if you went to the dealership though they won't be able to do as much as 2k for instance because they'd loose all their margin... I would recommend going private and just take someone who knows their stuff with you. Saving that money is worth it!
  22. Hey all, After an awesome response in the previous thread a few of us are keen to donate blood or plasma. I have checked with the Blood Bank in Southbank and on the 23rd of June there is at least 10 places for blood donations between 5.55 and 7pm, and at least 4 spots for Plasma in the same time. If you haven't donated before you will need to do whole blood for your first time. Now these times might not be available come a few days so if we can vote asap then we can lock in a date and start booking. You will need to call 13 14 95 and book yourself in as you will either need your donor ID or to answer a few questions if you are new. If you can get there for an earlier time please book it as some people might not be able to get there as early as others. Any questions let me know! 6-7pm (approx) Wednesday 23rd June Blood Bank: Southbank Donor Centre Level 1, 51-65 Clarke StreetSouthbank 3006 Victoria Clicky for gmaps, be careful google mapping the Blood Bank on its own as it takes you to the old one in Kavanagh street! 8pm (approx) Dinner: Garage Cafe & Bar 221/221 Berkeley StCarlton VIC 3053 Clicky for gmaps Current attendee list: Cha_Chaos JamesK vspecIInur Admaz Basti AGE turbo x-trail (by correspondance) At least 3 of my mates from motorcycle riding HEKT1K fasthally (maybe?) 23. Police knocked on the Door at about 11pm, talked to Ryan to see if anyone in the house was the owner of the Commodore. Heaps of people in the street, no pics of event but might snap some of the car, not pretty!
  24. Ahhhh lucky this weekend was planned to do a big lot of nothing, I only just got up Drive was awesome... Cops at King Lake were so RUDE!!! The ones at Mill Park were really cool though and chatty though. I can understand why they are there, we saw quite a few tossers enter and exit the Maccas... I didn't know it was so bad. All in all the regulars drove really well, the pace was good through Kinglake, when people start pushing it accidents start happen so it was more enjoyable to keep it contained. That was pretty much the reason why I don't like the coppers for treating us like we just murdered someone... Of course they can't see how we drive but out of all of the people on the road I don't think we were really that bad. ps. Got home and there's a new silver commodore side swiped opposite my driveway. Turn out some young guy had an epileptic fit while driving, side swiped the car then ended up in a pole! The guy was ok but it's pretty scary, don't go having epileptic fits anyone!
  25. hrmmm I got my car for less, with less k's and is turbo... So I wouldn't bother with that price for that car if I was you.
