Thanks guys it should just be a matter of working out if i want to do the bell housing swap or put it in as is and use it as a pull type. Being a late 32 box by the look of it, it still runs a mechanical speedo drive. I will get the front cut all stripped out and then get my car back in the garage and check all the minor parts like the speedo drive and make sure its the same. I was just trying to get a heads up on if anything was really going to stuff me or not. Thanks again i should be good from here on in.

Thanks doo doo. Can you remember how many drain plugs your transfer case has on it? It doesnt really matter any more but just trying to work out some of the minor differences. My early one deffinately has two and the pull only has the one. Seems to me to be a funny thing to change if almost everything else is the same.

Thanks. I weighted both the flywheels and the one from the pull clutch is 6kg and the my original one is 10 like you said. It seems strange that it would have a light weight one and still have a genuine nissan clutch on it. the thing that i have been trying to work out for certain is if the transfer cases in the pull type 32s was the same as the early ones or if it runs a small amount of preload like the 33s. Im sure my push type 32 has 2 drain plugs on the trans case but the pull only has the one and im trying to make sure i know if will still be ok to run on the dyno with only the fuse pulled. Thats why i was asking if you could tell the difference from the out side.

yes i have searched and found heaps of stuff on converting one to the other but nothing about if there is anything different inside the boxes and transfer cases. Or if there was any changes to the hydraulic systems. People use one in the other and it works but are all the part numbers the same, I cant find very much info on the pull type 32s in the manal or on the forums. I just thought that somone might have been through this and knew the differences. Like it feels to me that the pull type flywheel is quite a bit lighter than the push one or has somone put a aftermarket one in. It doesnt look like it though. I will put them on the scales and see how much tomorrow. Thanks

Hi all. Just a couple of quick questions that a hope some one can help with, I just got my self a R32 gtr front cut for the main reason that my engine ate a ceramic turbo and on pulling it apart i found that it is of pull type clutch my original car is push type. Ive searched and found that it is around 2/93 or later. This is where my questions start, Is there any difference between the inside of the gearboxes or transfer cases? Also is there any way to tell if its a 32 or 33 gearbox or are they the same? From what i have worked out i can either change front plate, fork and bell housing to convert but is there any changes in the hydralic systems between the two? apart from the slave cylinder. Lastly can anyone confirm if the oil pump drive on the crank was changed at the same time? I will probably have the sump off so i might check this anyway. Thanks

Hey are the mirrors still available? -
R32 Gtr Should have done the turbos before the rear ones wheel came off! Car has PFC, Apexi intake, cat back and removed boost restrictor so 1 bar boost. Lots of oil changes with castrol r 10w60. For those running ceramic wheels at 1 bar good luck! They do eat engines! The wheels come off and explode and the bir fly backwards up past the valves and do a real good hone job. i know it the exhaust wheel because the ittake side of the turbo is perfect and there is no abnormal shaft play and the bits stuck in the head and pistons are deffinetly ceramic. Had 80000 on clock and let go at about 5 grand in third not even full throttle. The front three bores still have original hone marks and the engine had never been opened. Do your turbos!!

Thanks or i could just buy your car. Im looking at all options at this point.

Hi all Good friday wasnt good at all! My R32 GTR ate the ceramic shards and stuffed my engine! I knew i should have done those damn turbos. Oh well now its rebuild time and the question i have is when fitting a R33 crank into a r32 is there any other difference apart from the oil pump drive collar? Heaps of people have done this so it should be a easy one. Can i still use my original balancer or new ati if i go that way for the 32? Thanks The light at the end of the tunnel is very small!

What size are the outlets on the cusco can? Thanks -
Hows it going? Have you sorted it out yet? Most aftermarket ecu's have some kind of sensor check or data readout. i dont know about emanage though. other than buckets of grey (oil) smoke coming out the or bad noises the only way to check your compressor wheel is to get your fingers to it and check for play. if they do let go its prob best to check it. You dont want it in your engine. Let us know what yo find

How does it free rev does it feel normal? If it doesnt take the cat off again and give it a rev to be sure it is a blockage in the exhaust. It will be LOUD. You could drive it up the street but you might get locked up. How much boost is it getting up to and is it blowing any black smoke anymore. What ecu is it and can you check the sensor inputs especially coolant temp incase somthing has gone wrong and its seeing very cold will make it rich.

Yeah fair call, I did read it and yes you just point and shoot. The only other thing that it says to do is attach the timing light pick up to the loop near the igniter and if you are not sure which way try both and the correct one the timing will have less advance. So make sure the pfc is reading 15 degrees and hook up the timing light and adjust the base until it says 15 and you should be done. If it still feels sluggish its back to a tuner or try and see if there are any marks where the bolt were before you first touched it but as the weather is getting hotter it will want to knock more so better to be safe
-
Thanks that is what i was thinking, it richens up a bit with boost and sits around 13.8 at low boost 2-4psi and then drops to about 12 flat. Its good because i can data log and then see all the graphs on the same page.
-
Hi people, I have a r32 gtr with a cat back and pfc. Its been tuned quite a while ago but is quite happy but recently i fitted a zeitronix wide band o2 sensor. This has opened up a whole other side of things to look at. I have been doing quite alot of freeway driving and with the help of a friend have been cleaning up the maps around the speed limit area. I have been able to get a noticable gain in response and also smoothness in these areas but the big question is what do people think that the relation between boost and afr's should be? As in if you are cruising along the freeway and the afr is 14.7 either with the standard 02 sensors on or off and you come to a hill what do you think your afrs should drop to with say 2 psi and then 4 and so on? I know people say low 12s is good at full throttle but its the middle im interested in.
-
Ok guys I also have a pfc and having just read this thread how do you set the base timing? I think this is the next step, With a stock comp dont you hav to bridge out a connector or somthing but what do you do witha pfc? Do you have to check that the cell its in at idle is set to 15 degrees advance and then use the timing light on the crank. Im a mechanic and have set timing on hundreds of efi cars but a pfc changes things a little. Ive never had to on my car so havnt looked into it but it is a good question. Just be aware gl3n that if you dont know where you were when you started then it could well be a case of setting the base timing and then going back to the tuner to at least get it all checked.
